Mod me offtopic if you want, I think its funny that every article that comes across has the "censorship" tag. This, again, really isn't censorship. They're not censoring anything from you. They are not saying you can't look at something. They are just prioritizing their traffic. Again, not saying they are right in doing so, but its not censorship.
Not sure about Google, but if you know your history, they all pretty much stole from other companies - if you can really call it that. The whole concept of the GUI came from Xerox. Both Apple and MS stole from them. Windows in it's current incarnations is built more from the ground up with MS code then Mac OSX. I'm not saying either is better... I'm just saying you're absolutely wrong. OSX is based off of some form of Unix... BSD, I think.
so, being an engineering student is exactly what college SHOULD be like??? Lets fact it, the standards are much, much lower. I, for one, think the standards have drifted so low for some majors that just showing up will earn you a passing grade. That's inexcusable.
As far as I know, Presidents can only be elected for two four year terms. Regardless of what he says about being in Iraq for "100 years", I doubt that's really the case. I think he's just being realistic. Outside of Ron Paul, who last I saw was actually still in the race - None of the remaining canidates will have troops out of Iraq until AT LEAST their second term, if that.
I, for one, don't really mind the current model. The reason I stopped buying cd's was because they were far too expensive. 99 cents per song seems somewhat reasonable to me, and with Apple's ridiculously weak DRM, it's not really much of an issue handing off the music to other people.
I fail to see why it is so difficult to create a reliable voting machine. It's an adder... computer have been doing this since they were first conceived.
Isn't this security by obscurity in a way? Whether you realize it or not, you're vulnerable regardless what OS you're running. Maybe not as vulnerable as Windows users, but there's a billion reasons for that. Since the perfect software/hardware platform has yet to be invented, I would strongly suggest using as much security as possible to protect your system.
Participants subliminally viewing a Budweiser logo were able to crush roughly twice as many beer cans against their foreheads compared to those who viewed a Colt 45 logo. On the other hand, those viewing the Colt 45 logo were shown to be 65% more obnoxious when panhandling. Those who drank budweiser while carrying a colt 45 were more likely to vote Republican.
I hear that COBOL is a pretty good language to learn. It isn't new, but it is old enough to make a comeback (like disco, aviator glasses and big hair)... The above actually looks like a syntactically correct COBOL statement.
It's really no big mistery. I can't make this claim about the rest of the world because I really don't know, but in my opinion, Americans only care about things that directly effect them. Why don't they care about domestic spying? They believe it doesn't effect them directly, and they may be right. We honestly care more about gas prices then our freedom.
True, but I would also hope that the police take an objective rather than selfish viewpoint on this - they should advocate what they think is best, rather than what makes life easier for them personally. I fail to see how this is a selfish viewpoint. Honestly, if they are interested purely in solving crimes, then they are acting in the best interest of their objective. The grandfather post is dead-on. It IS the politicians jobs to decide what is legal or illegal.
I agree, but when I look at sites like Digg, I think of them more as oversight for the major news media. Kind of the same way the government has various checks and balances (or at least should), the media can now be put in place by popular internet sites like Digg.
Fingerprint systems are terrible if you really think about it. It would basically be like a password that you had, you couldn't change it, and you left it in paper version everywhere you go. There needs to be another layer of security on top of most biometric systems.
Microsoft's lock on their own file formats and protocols is what keeps everyone captive to Microsoft applications, not the other way around. That and the average computer user's desire NOT to actually change. I think you're delusional if you think the average computer user feels locked into MS products. The real problem is that they are comfortable with them because they "came with the machine".
Now don't get me wrong, I think EA has done a lot of bad to the gaming industry. Their exclusive contracts with the NFL and NCAA for football (which forced 2k Sports to go exclusive with the MLB), have in my eyes, ruined the sports game industry. Madden was... and still, one of the best sports franchises around. I thought 2k couldn't hold a candle to Madden. Although, I'm all in for a competition. This is one area where I think they are doing suprisingly well.
I don't see why - they reserve the right to shut down sites they think are up to no good (in their judgement). This is reason enough never to use them. Well good luck using the Internet then, because i'm pretty sure every company that provides web space has similar provisions.

It's always important when communicating to recognize and understand your audience regardless of how stupid it might seem.
You know, this is one of those rare occasions on /. where I choose not to read the article, and instead, let my imagination run wild.
Run free imagination, but watch out for flying robots.
I'm sure Windows users see the opposite effect. I know whenever I get the blue screen of death, I usually just decide to go to sleep.

Enough said...
Since they were testing a lot of beta versions of new browsers. I wonder why they didn't include IE8.

Maybe, the electric car is making a comeback... but it's making a very, very, very slooooooooooooow comeback.

May be opinion based, but when they were both freely available, Madden kicked the shit out of 2k.
What kind of special way does ZapMedia have of sending music across the Internet... TCP?
Dream on! The price of putting Mac Air on every single plane in the US is far too high! (Sorry couldn't resist)
