I have to agree as well. I have always believed Apache was the #1 web server in use today in all areas, with the exception of the most number of successful hack attacks on a web server. The winner there is clearly IIS.
Well put...HP almost became another Enron. Good thing they bounced this bitch and headed off the demise of HP at the pass! Could have been real bad here.
On a side note, who in the hell respects "management" is a profession? I mean every management class I ever took in college was "make money, make money, make money" and manipulation of those under you. Organizations like Enron show the goal of most managers, make an assload of money and screw everyone you possibly can to get it.
Look at the management of the US. Should I respect those jokers?
It sounds like you are a newbie in the IT field and management and it looks like you have a lot of learning to do.
Do I respect management as a profession? No and nor will I ever. I respect people who competant, perform and bring value to the table.
Do I understand management? You damn skippy I do. Too many good and hard working people are routinely shown the door when incompetent people manage to keep their jobs because they are buddy-buddy with the boss. Do not give me some load of shit those are "isolated" cases. We both know that is in fact, the norm.
The qualities of a "good" manager you described above, I can count the managers I have met with those qualities on one hand, and I have been doing this for 15 years.
You clearly are a manager and took a dislike to my observations. 99.9% people who have never been (or will ever likely will be) a manager would agree with my position.
Most management I encounter makes me wonder how they got the job in the first place. My current employer boasts the most number of exceptions since my division is relatively new. However, in most organizations, management are the good 'ole boys clubs and these people are not interested in training new managers. Most people with any motivation or interest in management and not part of the club usually get trumped out...yours truly included (a number of times).
I am happy to report I have no interest in leadership and no longer seek any management position. At the same time, I see all these articles about IT and management merging. That is like Oil and Water mixing. It ain't gonna work. People who write these articles are dumbasses with no idea of how IT actually works.
IT managers would not ship jobs to India, non-IT managers do it everyday. Most people who get promoted from IT into a manager position do not last very long.
...and this news comes from the same jokers that built "Java Man" from a broken took and a piece of a cow's jawbone. Darwinists (also know as dumbasses) are so anti-religious anything seems to be the missing link. I think slashdot.org has reported on 50 "found missing link" stories this year.
I agree...most of America's allies have been bullied to write their banking laws to make it more difficult for Americans to operate outside the US.
The reason for this is the US taxes income based on CITIZENSHIP, not if you reside in the US or not. Which is really bogus. Under this reasoning, the IRS seems to think if I am working in a foreign country, the US is still entitled to a share. A tax lawyer may want to come behind me and vouch this, but this is what I was always told.
Also, what is to stop me from opening an account in Iran, Syria, or Cuba? Just because the US doesn't like those countries does not mean I should dislike them. Loyality to one's country is so 19th century.:)
So some dumbfuck at the credit card company opens up an envelope with an application that was tore up and taped back together again, and then they issue the credit card? Sounds like an inside job to me...
CHASE SUCKS!
BTW, I highly doubt you are an AE and where are the engines? Tell us all ONE crash...just ONE where no bodies, no blood, no luggage, no seats, no black box, no engines, get the idea.
So go back to work at the pentagon or the post office, or whereever you serve the elitist government you lying hack.
Yes I am. I also do not believe 2 airliners full of jet fuel (which only burns at 1800 degree in IDEAL conditions) weakened two steel buildings and dropped into themselves on the one square block perfecting onto themselves in less than 90 minutes.
Acutally the evidence is quite substancial and most of the governments own evidence it pushes to "prove" their story actually works to disprove it.
I have no intention of wasting server space on slashdot.org proving things to you that you are likely too mother fucking stupid to understand anyway. So go ahead and serve the emperor, support globalization and outsourcing like a good little POS neocon.
The reality of IT is the fact that most people use the software they need to get the job done. I happen to use both MySQL and Oracle for my uses and my job but PostgreSQL is pretty nifty for personal projects.
Oracle is a large animal and cost more than a Maybach for 1 CPU of support (ok, probably not but you get the idea).
This same arguement can be applied to, 5 reason you should not be using Linux, or 5 reasons you should not be using OpenOffice, etc.
I cannot seem to follow this entire classification of public records in the name of stopping terrorism. As soon as someone in the government tells me how a commercial airlines was vaporized by fire at the pentagon on 911, then I will start listening the what they have to say.
The other thing I have this problem with are these "Homeland Security Letters" that some people have been getting around my area as of late. These are letters that tell you DHS is investigating you or someone and if you tell them or anyone else or show the letter to anyone then you go to jail.
If I ever get one of these letters, I will post it here on Slashdot.org, count on it. I will also take out ads in the local newspapers AND post on any other web site that will take. I also will inform whomever they are investigating, regardless if he is guilty or not.
Hey stupid ass...I said I had a problem with my connection and Comcast came to fix it. It had nothing to do with the web blockage, of which we are all in agreement the ISPs do.
Read next time fuktard.
I find it real interesting how when someone says something one doesn't like, how fast the bandwagon builds against you.
Now I am pretty damn sure the broadband companies DO spy on their customers because it is on news pretty regular and Homeland Security claims they endorse it. If you believe me, fine, if not, fuck you.
A comcast van with a comcast tech came to my place to fix my RR connection. If you believe me, fine, if not, fuck you.
Jack Welsh VERY MUCH DID ORDER NBC TO CALL THE ELECTION FOR BUSH IN 2004. PERIOD. IT FUCKING HAPPENED. If you dumbfucks weren't surfing porn, you would know that. It was all over the news for weeks. Welch even let him dumb ass get taped while he said it. Several Senators were all over the news and even suggest the bastard should be charged with election fraud. If you believe me, fine, if not, fuck you.
As for the web site blocks, both sites claim they are blocked routinely and there have been times I could not reach them either. Concidence? Who knows.
If you believe me, fine, if not, fuck you.
As for the web site blockage.
Hey...like I told the other guy (who is a moron by the way). I can only tell you what I have seen. Maybe you can explain why the Comcast van showed up to fix my RR connection. The sites could have been down, but it seems to happen too often for that.
Whoops...forgot about the CIA, FBI, NSA, IRS, the alphabet agencies. But I think you knew that already.
As for me being a lunatic or a troll. Let me tell your sorry ass something. Bush is what I like to call an "artifical Christian". He has a special place in hell already set up for him. Another place is for his neo-con followers.
Yeah, Time Warner gave money to the Dems, but why does the senior management and its CEO routinely show up to Neocon fundraisers. Same goes with GE when its CEO Jack Welsh walked into the NBC news studio in New York and ordered them to call the election for Bush in 2004.
You people who follow these neocon sludgebags are fools while claiming America is a free country while waving your Chinese made American Flags when asking God to bless Bush. I have more news for ya...God ain't blessing Bush.
I have seen Road Runner block web sites critical of the government. It happens all the time. If you think this is really far-fetched, go and look see what Cisco and Google are doing in China (soon to be in US).
When I called for help on by Business Road Runner connection, a man in a COMCAST van showed up.
If I were in the know on the workings of Time Warner and Comcast, I would be an insider trader and be rich.
You're right...there is no official ownership, but both Comcast and Road Runner answer to the same master (Time Warner) and their service departments service each others services. In my area, I have Biz class Road Runner but when I needed on-site help, a helpful tech in a Comcast truck showed up to fix it.
Comcast and its sibling company Road Runner routinely block access to alternative websites such as www.infowars.com and www.rbnlive.com because they take on the Feds and the "yes-man" major media. Time Warner (the owner of both Comcast and Road Runner) is a "yes-man" major media company, towing the neo-con line.
It is does not surprise me they would block access to their competitors. Soon I expect them to begin survelliance of their customers and reporting their "un-American" activities to the alphabet agencies.
You know, if we had kept going after the moon landings, it is quite possible Slashdot.org could be running out of a data center on Mars right now.
Take MIR for example, remember how much of a hard-on NASA had for getting rid of it. Well it is gone now and what do we have in its place? A piece of junk just as bad as MIR, probably worse. The shuttle program has always been an expensive sham and whenever private enterprise shows up with a ship or a alternative program, NASA promptly shuts it down, claiming space as its own personal property.
NASA needs to be dismantled and in the short term, its operations place under the control of the Air Force until civilian organizations can be brought up to speed.
The shuttle program is a symptom of the disease called NASA.
I have to agree as well. I have always believed Apache was the #1 web server in use today in all areas, with the exception of the most number of successful hack attacks on a web server. The winner there is clearly IIS.

I meant a piece of a tooth and a jaw bone. Scientists can be so stupid sometimes.
...and this news comes from the same jokers that built "Java Man" from a broken took and a piece of a cow's jawbone. Darwinists (also know as dumbasses) are so anti-religious anything seems to be the missing link. I think slashdot.org has reported on 50 "found missing link" stories this year.
...this sunday on Pay-per-view! Only $50! On a side note, GNOME bites.
The reason for this is the US taxes income based on CITIZENSHIP, not if you reside in the US or not. Which is really bogus. Large multinationals are the only organizations left with resources to make and market anything.
The only left open to innovation is making money...

Nice knowing Alienware...they DID make good systems.
