It's better than anything out there right now for easily searching factual topics, and where there is demand there will be competition. If you think any product or service can be made perfect right out of a hat then you're misinformed. It takes time, practise and lots of real world experience.
Another poster mentioned this one already, but in case you missed it; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quorn.
Very weird & I've yet to try it but it's essentially a company making a type of fungas, almost visually identical to that of meat in many forms.
You know what I hope? That by the time all the people who stick with XP and time comes where they eventually have to migrate, that someone, or some volunteers build a 'XP conversion' utility for windows 7 so that the transition isn't so bad. At work I had to use windows 7 for a little bit but it left a bad taste in my mouth. There was some nice stuff but I like how I can use 'classic' mode in control panel, for example. I am sure there will be an app like this - perhaps nLite will do this?
It makes me wonder whether the computer OS is actually a good business model. Don't get me wrong, it's profitable in the sort term but it seems to me like it could get very stagnant because people don't actually 'use' the Windows OS, they use their applications. Reminds me of the property business - you buy land to build upon and live/sell the house you have developed/used. OSX is an exception because it comes as a package with applications that people tend to use by default.
Propose a different flight system or transport method then. I think trains are good as they can be a) improved easily for electric motors b) they are reliable and on time c) they use one small path for travel d) very few animal deaths, as the surface area they actually cover is just the top surface of the rails. Obviously if you have a large animals in the center then they may get killed but they can always hear it coming.
How about a
nautilus laser system that constantly spins within the front intake, thus on impact the birds are essentially vaporised and cause much less stress on the blades.
That's what I thought, however I think the discussion goes further than just preventing collisions on engines, rather the wings, etc.
I presumed that there was no mesh in front of the engines purely because the high air resistance it would cause would be detrimental to the MPG's the aircraft would get. Whether this would outweigh the negatives is another matter indeed, but I'd like it discussed.
well, there's two sides of the coin in all situations.. is thinking of loved ones really a bad thing?.. you can't have it both ways.. remembering things is very important, otherwise people would run around starting fires, putting their hand in flames, leaving the gas on etc.. You need a balance..
HOLY FUCK GUYS This is fucking crazy.. dog eat dog now.. I'm fucking stealing all your oxygen now.. I'm wise, I'm stealing all the oxygen in plastic cannisters, oh fuck, I've just given my secrets away, fuck that I don't care it's all mine, I'm the fucking winner here!
heart attack when I read 'OLPC to Run Windows'.. jesus christ, I actually thought microsoft had just won over linux on the OLCP.. thank god I read it incorrectly.
For me, I used to worry about s*** like this... death, illness, aliens...
I've naturally desensitized myself from all of it... admittedly, I delved into it more than I should have before and scared myself silly, but I went there.. It was interesting and I learnt a lot of things.. One of the main things I learnt was to not take it to the heart, not to take it overly serious that I would break out from my normal life to study more/worry about... I really am not scared of death, this life, whatever it,/she/him created me and I have a good life, and that's that.. sometimes it's bad but hey, I am still fortunate to experience things, help others... Worrying about silly speculative articles on slashdot is nothing short of silly.. so relax buddy! eat some haagen daz ice cream.. peace.
Possible.. maybe it's karma?.. I think it's pretty evident that if you're generally harsh to everyone in your life, you will get it in return, and I don't mean some special forces.. I mean, some people would treat you how you treat them.. and if you treat everyone like a douche, you'll be treated as such.ipp
Good post. I'd also like to see a fully transparent tax system, whereby *you* choose where the tax money you paid for goes.. you hate the road conditions where you live? direct it at that. You want a better quality play park for your kids? direct it at that.. and so on.
Perhaps the solution is to make war a financially poor choice to pick instead of say, transportation infrastructure? (Trains, electric cars etc)

You go to the power outlet and you unplug it. and anyway, why all this skynet shit? there are closer dangers to us than that.
oh man that was so funny, thanks for bothering.

If you had a cone shaped mesh in front of the engines, wouldn't this deflect it enough from the blades?

The trouble is, bats have trouble with them. The high air-pressure that the blades cause can suffocate bats' lungs. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/north_east/6445963.stm
Hate to link to BBC but just wanted to post this

Yes, it does make sense and that's why Fedoras live USB stick exists: https://fedorahosted.org/liveusb-creator

haha, total funny.
Very cool, but I am in the UK, and the plugin keeps relocating back to '.com' ebay.
.co.uk?
Any chances of a quick fix?.. or any existing ebay tool bars with support for
Linux.com and Slashdot.org are both owned by OSTG.
OSTG!!
OSTG!!!!!
I briefly looked over the review, looks a fair bit different. I'm in a similar situation.

This is a brilliant trend I'm seeing.. one can only hope this sets a precedent for other companies in this field.
I for one can see AMD going all the way with this recent news headline on Intels part... Intels started it, now let's hope AMD can finish it.
