I have had two SSD crashes. One was on a very cheap Zelman 32GB drive which never really worked (OK, about twice). The other was on a Kingston 64GB that I have in my server. When it gets really hot in the room (over 100, so probably over 120 for the drive itself in the case), it will crash. But when it cools down, it works perfectly well.
They all do it and they've all done it for a long time. DirecTV USED to have full HD streams at the very beginning, and they still do well on their re-compressed MP4 streams, which are very close to the original. My cable company's HD streams are horribly over-encoded like a super-cheap foreign Jackie Chan DVD.
Actually, at my current job, we are letting the C/C++ dinosaurs die off through natural attrition. One of them went back to Russia because he couldn't find any C++ jobs in the US. It's dying out quickly these days.
In my experience, hardware/chip design does not pay more than software. I've had several former chip designers switch to programming because it paid more. YMMV.
Maybe Neanderthals are not that old.... The better question, is how do we have dinosaurs with red blood cells? If DNA can barely survive for 500+ years, and cannot survive more than 1.5 million, how do red blood cells last 65 million years since the presumed extinction impact event?
Creationists will be VERY interested in this article.
Living in Southern California, since I have been married we have taken driving trips to New Mexico, Kansas, Wyoming, Oregon, Arizona, Nevada, etc. Before I was married we drove to Edmonton and Vancouver on different trips. For most jobs, I drive at least 20 miles to work, and I've done as much as 45.
And there are MANY people with trucks that use them to haul stuff all the time. Sure, there are people that never haul anything, but I would say that is far more prevalent in the soccer mom SUV set.
We have gasoline that is $3.79 a gallon while the rest of the world pays $8 or more. If they simply let the gas prices go and stopped subsidizing them, you would see Americans make the switch in a hurry.
In fact, if gas prices have gone up recently, you see a lot of people buying a Prius or a Ford Focus. If they have been stagnant for a while, they are buying Hummers and Mustangs.
What a crock. I live in london , I'm over 6 foot and 210lbs and I've never had any trouble fitting in any car. Unless you're the height of a basket ball player or you're a 400 lb ball of sweaty lard because you can't leave off the donuts then there's no reason you can't either.
You've never been to America, have you? There are a lot of sweaty 400lb balls of sweaty lard over here.
Exactly. It could come across as flat as the Muslim woman in BBC's Robin Hood. That level of PC made me stop watching the show all by itself. Battlestar Galactica, OTOH, had many strong female characters including Starbuck and the President. They weren't preaching women's issues, either. Very refreshing.
I took typing in 8th grade. Because my class schedule was wrong the first day, I ended up with the sticky typewriter. Because of that, I couldn't type fast enough and I got a C in typing. (Funny because now I probably type faster than all those people.)
The NEXT year, they got Apple//s for the whole lab. Anyway, I eventually took Computer Programming (UCSD Pascal) and the teacher (a math teacher that knew almost nothing about computers), would give us 2 weeks to write a program. I would finish it in 20 minutes. That's when I figured out that I should be a software engineer.
Anyway, even though it was first period, he wouldn't let us do homework for other classes in there. So I turned my green screen all the way down and installed Ultima III, Ultima IV, Return of Heracles, Ali Baba, etc., with the SOUND OFF. I solved lots of adventure games in there.
One day he finally caught me and I got in trouble. He made me do another project. "Write a game." So I wrote a memory match game in one day. I asked for another project. And another one. Every day. Finally, he said, "OK, play your games but keep the screen low and the sound off."
I went to Homecoming 20 years later and he still remembered my name (he was my Cross Country coach also). He still teaches computers and complained to me that the kids are always trying to play games instead of working. I reminded him that I was the very first...;)
I agreed with this in the past, but the new Samsung plasma I just bought has a great, easy to use menu. I was able to understand what everything did without looking in a manual.
I once told my boss that I would quit if he made me work on a spam engine. He finally gave the product to some of my co-workers, who gladly did it...:-(
That's because geeks now detest Sony.
Cool, so now you can sell an installer that installs it for people (unmodified, of course)...

Wow. On Wikipedia even. I can't believe anyone would attempt to argue that a Smart Car is safe instead of barely passing NHTSA.
I think he was talking about the fact the poor people can't buy new cars and have a hard time finding affordable older cars.
Let's see. How much would I spend to not have to be in a junkyard every other weekend?
He was not allowed to use the internet at all as part of his probation.
Wrong. CJD was caused by feeding cows ground up remaining cow parts. Cannibalism is the main cause of mad cow disease.

And we get paid more than them, so I hardly call programming "the bottom". Why get the headache without the pay?

Seriously. How hard is it to make or or work?
Having to dial **ME XYZ
I think it would just be **XYZ, if I am reading the summary correctly.

You need to go to Costco in Hawaii... That place was packed, leading me to believe that everyone else has been colluding for 50 years...

Hope Apple wasn't planning on using this in their iPads...
