"TWA Flight 800, even though that air disaster had absolutely nothing to do with terrorism. "
Isn't that the plane that Clinton is accused of shooting down because people with Whitehouse secrets were on their way to Paris to present? If so, I could see why he would want IDs checked to ensure the correct people are on the plane. I mean, you wouldn't want to shoot the WRONG plane out of the sky...
I have food allergies. I expect an honest answer if I ask you a question about ingredients. If you don't know, tell me you don't know and I will go somewhere else.
I do NOT expect everybody on earth to remove all traces of soy from everything so that I don't get sick. That's ridiculous.
You want to know what's also ridiculous? I have seen parking spaces at busy malls that go unused for YEARS because they are handicapped spaces. Why are there so many spaces when there are so few handicapped people? I appreciate the spaces for people like my friend who was handicapped for many years, but even he agreed that the sheer number of spaces was way too high.
I like America's sense of caring for certain unfortunate groups, but the balance is too far the other way these days.
Bethesda have been putting out buggy releases since time immaterial...
IIRC, Bethesda was the original company that made Wayne Gretzky Hockey. It took 2 updates before that thing was playable enough to simulate a season. Of course, in those days you had to call them and complain and they would send you a floppy disk with a inkjet-printed label. I guess some things never change.
Exactly. I was explaining the Fair Tax to people, and how it would handle things such as welfare, social security and unemployment, and they complained that it was completely socialist. I then explained that we already have these same programs to which the response was stunned silence...
Actually, I would say that clueless Windows users won't do this. They are used to going to websites, whipping out a credit card and doing an install. But most users have no idea how to get into the advanced screen in Windows update to add optional items.
For the Friends and Family crowd, I now always uninstall what they have and replace it with MSE. Not only is it free, but it's been rated as the best and the updates happen automatically. It's so much lighter weight than Symantec and Norton that people tell me it's like a brand new computer.
I have not had a single callback about any problems.
G originally meant "generation". Sprint's 2G network was better than their first one. It really caught on with 3G so that people understood that they were advertising a 3rd, different thing. Since this is Sprint's 4th network, I really don't see how some outsider can come in and say, "it's not a 4G network".
1G was around the same speed as 128kbps ISDN. I had a phone that used this. It was slow.
2G was around DSL speed (about 450kbps). It was better than before, but still very slow.
3G was around fast DSL speed (about 1.2MB). It's also known as EV-DO and I use that now. It's pretty decent for a phone, and even tethered.
4G is the new super-fast 3-6mbps.
From the Wikipedia topic on 4G:
The nomenclature of the generations generally refers to a change in the fundamental nature of the service, non-backwards compatible transmission technology, and new frequency bands. The first was the move from 1981 analog (1G) to digital (2G) transmission in 1992. This was followed, in 2002, by 3G multi-media support, spread spectrum transmission and at least 200 kbit/s, soon expected to be followed by 4G, which refers to all-IP packet-switched networks, mobile ultra-broadband (gigabit speed) access and multi-carrier transmission.
NAT sometimes gets unique addresses (if DHCPed), offering additional privacy.
NAT firewalls allow you to make ports visible on the internet, so that's not really a negative in practice.
With NAT, because the address ranges are completely different (and non-routeable by default), it is impossible to accidentally end up on the internet. With IPv6, one wrong unnoticed setting and you're there.
Companies don't track IP address too much, because there are too many users behind them at large companies. That would change in a heartbeat if every machine was individually identifiable through the firewall.
IPv6 is typically slower on every machine that I have tried it on. I don't know why this is, but turning it off always results in a speed increase. This will probably change as time goes on and they find bugs and refactor algorithms.
Personally, I see lots of negatives and no positives. And maybe I'm not alone, because there seems to be a great reluctance to switching over.

I have that book. I was just looking at it the other day. I remember typing the listings in to my Atari computer at home and the Apple in the library at school. Once I typed in Super Star Trek (and changed the characters to look like the ships), everyone wanted a copy.
boxen is wayyy stupider than virii.

Actually, he claims he was detained at the airport while he should have been free to go and said he is considering a "False Imprisonment" lawsuit.

But wasn't the result that nobody ever DID find evidence of that?
His only crime was he wasn't as rich and powerful as Mark Zuckerberg.
Except, as noted above, when it is the founder of Facebook...
Actually, if the door is already open, they are only trespassing if they have been asked not to be on the premises in the past.
You're right, we should kill all marketers... ;-)

Easy. Because Europe said so.
With most AV solutions other than MSE, I would rather have the virus. They use less resources and pop up less dialog boxes.

So, you're saying that ITU-R should be careful here?
There's only been 4 generations in a span of about 10 years that I have had a phone, so the generations are more like every 2.5 years.
If HTML1-5 were used freely by manufacturers and then they suddenly had their terminology hijacked by a standards body for HTML6, then not really, no.

BTW, only Catholics believe that Mary was without Original Sin. This is not a common belief among the rest of Christianity.

Yeah, but he called it "OPOC".
