I know, I know, you are probably breaking your monitor in a foamy rage of self-righteous shoot-the-messenger.
But hear me out. If spammers had to spend lots of money to send spam, they wouldn't do it. If people knew they would be charged a penny for every e-mail sent through their zombie-bot system, they might take better care of it.
I certainly wouldn't miss the $1/month I spent on penny e-mail if I got 0 spams.
Google only makes up 50% of searches, while at one time Windows had a whopping 90% of the OS market. As much as Google might SEEM like a monopoly, they have a ways to go.
All Google has to do is keep spidering everyone else's search engines and they will remain with only 50% of searches forever...;)
I don't think I could consider a database where "not losing data" is one of it's weaker points. I haven't lost data on a SQL Server since version 6.5. NEVER.
If I wanted a database that periodically lost stuff, I would just use Access...;)
A preacher that runs the largest Sunday School in New York City had a similar problem and it similarly went away one day. I'm not sure if it was exactly the same disease, but it was very close if not.
Not to take away from Scott Adams' amazing accomplishment of trying to remap his own brain (and succeeding!), but he may not have been the first or the only.
In other news, Coca-Cola sues coal miners and drug dealers for using the word "coke"....
Please, it's really unfortunate that their brand name is being diluted, but you don't see Coca-Cola complaining that their trademark is a dangerous drug or a bunch of slimy black goo.
If you could have taken pictures of the staples in the sandwich, you would most likely have been fine. Subway's lawyers probably wouldn't risk losing a high-profile case that might turn out to be true. In effect, they would be informing more people than you ever could have.
I thought drivers didn't get paged to disk, since there's already a copy on the disk: THE ORIGINAL FILE. This has been stated several times.
Without additional evidence, this doesn't seem like a valid exploit.
Also, with Microsoft already encrypting the cache contents of ReadyBoost drives, it would seem trivial for Microsoft to do the same for paged out memory before Vista's launch in January.

That's usually the gist of my conversation with those automated systems.
If I'm calling, it's not something that can be solved with an automated prompt. If it was, I would have looked it up on your website already... I'm calling specifically because there's something WRONG with my account!
Sea monsters ARE in the Bible and every ancient form of literature. It's called Leviathan. Nobody needs to "fit" anything.
1 "Can you pull in the leviathan [a] with a fishhook
or tie down his tongue with a rope?
2 Can you put a cord through his nose
or pierce his jaw with a hook?
3 Will he keep begging you for mercy?
Will he speak to you with gentle words?
4 Will he make an agreement with you
for you to take him as your slave for life?
5 Can you make a pet of him like a bird
or put him on a leash for your girls?
6 Will traders barter for him?
Will they divide him up among the merchants?
7 Can you fill his hide with harpoons
or his head with fishing spears?
8 If you lay a hand on him,
you will remember the struggle and never do it again!
9 Any hope of subduing him is false;
the mere sight of him is overpowering.
10 No one is fierce enough to rouse him.
Who then is able to stand against me?
11 Who has a claim against me that I must pay?
Everything under heaven belongs to me.
12 "I will not fail to speak of his limbs,
his strength and his graceful form.
13 Who can strip off his outer coat?
Who would approach him with a bridle?
14 Who dares open the doors of his mouth,
ringed about with his fearsome teeth?
15 His back has [b] rows of shields
tightly sealed together;
16 each is so close to the next
that no air can pass between.
17 They are joined fast to one another;
they cling together and cannot be parted.
18 His snorting throws out flashes of light;
his eyes are like the rays of dawn.
19 Firebrands stream from his mouth;
sparks of fire shoot out.
20 Smoke pours from his nostrils
as from a boiling pot over a fire of reeds.
21 His breath sets coals ablaze,
and flames dart from his mouth.
22 Strength resides in his neck;
dismay goes before him.
23 The folds of his flesh are tightly joined;
they are firm and immovable.
24 His chest is hard as rock,
hard as a lower millstone.
25 When he rises up, the mighty are terrified;
they retreat before his thrashing.
26 The sword that reaches him has no effect,
nor does the spear or the dart or the javelin.
27 Iron he treats like straw
and bronze like rotten wood.
28 Arrows do not make him flee;
slingstones are like chaff to him.
29 A club seems to him but a piece of straw;
he laughs at the rattling of the lance.
30 His undersides are jagged potsherds,
leaving a trail in the mud like a threshing sledge.
31 He makes the depths churn like a boiling caldron
and stirs up the sea like a pot of ointment.
32 Behind him he leaves a glistening wake;
one would think the deep had white hair.
33 Nothing on earth is his equal--
a creature without fear.
34 He looks down on all that are haughty;
he is king over all that are proud."
Not that I wouldn't recommend more in an office environment, but making statements like:
You need 256MB of video RAM to run Aero properly, no matter what Microsoft's marketing says. I don't know of any motherboard-based video chip sets that include 256MB of RAM. Upgrade? While in the PC, add memory: Vista needs a minimum of 1GB of RAM.
My daughter and I play Lego Star Wars II on it just fine (Dell SC400 2.4GHz HT with only 512MB RAM). We're running it at 1280x1024 because of the flat panel (even though it suggested 800x600) and only 1 or 2 rooms have slowed down at all.
I have found it to be FASTER than or equivalent to XP on almost every task, probably because of the pre-loading, offloading of window drawing to the graphics processor and other performance-enhancing features (such as using my 1GB flash drive as additional ReadyBoost cache). It's much snappier with Aero Glass on than without it, where it lags behind XP by a considerable margin.
Also, AnyDVD, AudioGrabber with lame.dll and other utilities that were supposed to be problematic seem to run just fine. I can rip my DVDs to my video server and my CDs to my MP3 player. Also, VideoReDo works but it shifts it out of Aero and back in when it's done. Hope they fix that.
Considering this is still a Beta with Debug code in it, I'm REALLY looking forward to the real thing, because so far, it's great, way more secure (but not too annoying) and VERY FAST.
Because "cool" societies (which I assume you to mean those not based on Biblical principles) tend to do things such as murder and torture and control people that don't agree with them, which in turn stifles the ability to innovate and create and keeps a society down.
And "uncool" societies (those based on Biblical principles) have gone on to be the world power at their respective times:
Rome after Christianity took hold
France after their revivals
England after their revivals
America after their revivals
They accomplish this by not trying to control everyone and just letting people be free. Also, they set up the rules to ensure fairness instead of their buddies getting what they want. This leads to tremendous creativity and innovation. And I, for one, think that's pretty cool.
Now that our American Christians no longer act like Christians (current administration and government, for example), look for other societies that are currently experiencing huge Christian revivals to become world powers in the next 50 years (such as China or Latin America, for instance).
You can argue with this, but a casual comparison of a church history book with the book you read in high school with all the references to Christianity removed will confirm this pattern.
Back to the subject at hand... If I thought they were actually outlawing gambling because of the harm it causes to children of irresponsible idiots and the costs of rehabilitation that are absorbed by society and so forth, I would be thrilled. But, since they stopped short of shutting down state lotteries, that doesn't seem to be the motivation here, does it?

According to the Bible, the Romans killed Jesus at the request of the chief priests, because they lacked the authority to sentence someone to death.
Hence, Pilate's hand-washing ceremony in front of the crowd to show that he was not in favor of executing Jesus.
With .NET, forward migration is easy, because you can easily compile your old apps on the new framework with few changes.
In California, we have a word for BASEMENT. It's: CONCRETE SLAB.
No attic, either. It's VERY hard to do that sort of thing here.
How about we publish an unbiased history of the US first?
That's why I switched.

As a migraine sufferer, I can vouch for this.
Then again, it's not like Aspartame is actually food in any sense (your body cannot break it down), so it's not surprising if it causes damage.
Also, when heated or left on the shelf for a long time, it turns into formaldehyde, which you probably shouldn't be drinking.
Don't let actual work accomplished sidetrack you from what's really important!

Am I the only one ...
yes
No. Except who uses DOS anymore?
But I might make an Enter key clone called Return, just for old-times sake.
No, I don't want to watch SD TV on a tiny screen on my iPod or on my PC screen. I have a 50" HDTV for TV viewing.
Am I the only one waiting for more shows (such as Amazing Race) to go HD, rendering them practically undownloadable by modern methods?
