And especially regression in the CPU-specific areas, like compiling, audio and video compression, etc. But hey, you get 1-2 more frames on the latest games!
And in 2009, I bought a $59 AMD 2-core Phenom X2 and turned on the other 2 cores on the motherboard to turn it into a $580 4-core Phenom X4. Stock cooler, no overvoltage. It's been running that way for almost 7 years no problem.
"Guaranteed" isn't a funny word since if the 4.2 won't run at 4.2, Intel will give you another one. If the 3.8 won't run at 4.2, tough. Seems like the EXACT meaning of "guaranteed" to me.
It doesn't matter. Write a single-core app on.NET and run it. Watch the CPU meters in Task Manager. Look at that! All 4 are within 10% of each other. Microsoft automatically puts the garbage collector on a different CPU as well as anything else that can run on separate threads already. This has been the case since at least Windows 7, even for a DOS batch file.
After reading through all the evidence, if even half of it is true, it's him. And I think you overestimate how many people own 1 million bitcoins. The answer is: Satoshi.
According to you. If you don't like it, don't buy from that business. If you do buy from that business, you're just an enabler.
Because it is unethical?
According to you. And so what? Why does this matter?
Because it is a poor business decision?
Wrong. It's a good business decision. Do you see Microsoft's profits disappearing? I don't. People keep buying from them. So their strategy seems to be working, therefore it's a good thing for them to do.
According to everyone. It's wrong and unethical if you override someone else's will to do yours on something you don't own. The customer bought the computer and the OS. Overriding their will with their computer isn't an opinion, it's just flat-out wrong.
There is definitely something wrong if it is saying that buffer-overflow-happy c++ is better for security than other more-modern languages. Almost all the pwn2own stuff is c-based.
It will be interesting to see how well they validate registrations.

And what happens when the yields start providing 99% perfect chips but the demand curve is still the same?
Lack of competition.

Don't you mean "if you don't turn on test mode during emissions testing, I'll fire you and find someone else who will!"
Engineers rarely get bonuses.

I think they have value for EXACTLY the reason of your last statement. They solve a real problem, that of who can control your money.
And anonymous VPNs, and donations to unpopular political entities like Wikileaks.
They already have his PGP key, as the post above you points out.
You have to admit the timing is unbelievably coincidental...
Oh, so the Julian Assange thing....
Yeah! They're not America!

And those human/scorpion/locust things in Revelation WEREN'T real! They were supposed to be figurative, right?
Windows 10 is much faster than Windows 7. It has a lot of weaknesses, but this isn't one of them.

I used my old eeePC netbook. Works fantastic after putting an SSD in it and hanging a large external drive off it.
10w all day long after turning off Bluetooth and WiFi.
Or he ran some ridiculous benchmark that will never mirror real-world use...
I just bought a brand new i7 4970k from amazon and it most certainly did come with a full fan assembly.

Plus, EVERYTHING else is terribly slow after using SQL Server.
I've always heard it as "Post gress see quill"
