I think what is being said is that 90% of people are morons or jerks. An SUV just makes you a bigger moron or jerk by a couple thousand pounds. The whole helmet thing to me is retarded. I may not like the laws (the libertarian in me) but not wearing a helmet or wearing a novelty helmet is suicidal. The varying levels of protection offered by approved helmets is obvious, how much impact they have in a collision is not as much. But you are right sportbike riders tend to wear the real thing where as a good number of cruiser guys fake the funk.

"House Resolution 4279 is an affront to due process and intelligent discourse. Not only is there other grossly more important issues at hand for the federal government, but this is just one more place to waste resources in an effort to garner more lobbyist donations by propping up a failing industry that has failed to modernize its business model.

This does not begin to address the issues with the DMCA or the incorrect ideas about what constitutes theft (copyright violation is not theft as there is no deprivation of property), the inability of Congress to enact rational copyright laws, or appropriate penalties for copyright violations.

Once congress has resolved all the issues with famine, healthcare, education, energy and oil policy then Congress should feel free to address other less pressing issues. United States IP policies do nothing but hinder progress and remove the US as a leader in yet another industry.

As a life long Democrat I have never supported a Republican for any position in my 8 years of voter eligibility. Should you support this resolution in the Senate I will be forced to vote for your opponent and volunteer my services to their campaign."

That was my letter to my senators who currently are both Democrats.

Don't lump all of us in there. Some of us use full face helmets, armored riding gear, and only ride two up at a stand still (the rest of the time it's staggered).

I also get 60 miles per gallon after rejetting the carb and opening up the exhaust (it was almost 70 before that). I can bring home groceries and run almost all errands on my bike. Leaving my gas guzzling van sitting in the driveway 6 or 7 days a week.

First things first. I hate IE in all of its incarnations at this point. I use Firefox and Opera.

That being said I am currently deployed doing IT support for the USMC, which is a sub-unit of the US Dept. of the Navy.

There are very significant portions of the governments web presence that do not work with any browser except IE6 in any way, shape, or form. I do not know how far it extends beyond the Dept of the Navy but I know it is not limited to it.

We cannot use IE7, FF, Opera, or any of the other browsers I have tried (this includes most of the major linux browsers) to access these sites.

IE6 may fall from use at home but it's not going anywhere soon in military sector...

Think of the ocean as a glass of water. If you have a couple cubes floating on top the water level doesn't get higher when the ice melts. Now if you stack the ice to the bottom so it's stack above the water (not floating) then the water level will raise when it melts.
