I, as usual, am less than enthusiastic about our choices for president. It would be nice to have a third party (or better yet a 4th party) who can win a substantial part of the vote and a significant chunk of congress (10-20 votes in the house and 5 in the senate and be very powerful)

I voted for Badnarik last time but I don't see the Libertarians even putting forth a palatable candidate this year.

I'll be satisfied as long as some Bible (or other religious book of choice) Thumping lunatic doesn't win and try to control my private life even more.

Have you ever done the research on Global Warming or do you just believe what you're told?

Global Warming is a theory, don't treat it as fact. Global Warming (and cooling) have been going on for a shit load longer than the past one or two hundred years.

If human caused Global Warming becomes a reality who is to say it is a bad thing?

Al Gore and a lot of other people have done a good job spreading the fear of Global Warming around. So much so that people stop looking for facts and just follow the common knowledge.

There is absolutely no reason that Global Warming should even factor into this discussion. Renewable power supplies that don't use highly valuable resources are good for many reasons beyond lack of pollution. The problem with solar power is it doesn't produce a base of power and never will be able to.

If you want to make a real big difference find ways to provide base power. The only real option left in the USA is nuclear. It's cleaner than solar, provides base power, and what waste it does have is actualy pretty easy to contain and dispose of, as opposed to spraying it out the smoke stack.

Can we just assume that no one wants their shitty products and move on? There are literally only three bands I have bought the CD's for in the past 7 years and one of them is from Europe. As for DVD's except for the LOTR extended box and Disney (I'm an addict I need help) I haven't bought a single new dvd in the same time.

Seriously the only thing I've even thought about pirating recently is porn and a couple computer games cause in Iraq if it isn't digital delivery it's a pain in my ass.

Most of those games I'm just waiting til I get home to see if I'll even have time to play them to get, new parent and all.

In the late 90's (97 to 99ish) I volunteered as computer tech for a local daycare for disadvantaged families when I was able to fit it around high school and sports.

Shortly before I began helping them they had recieved a donation of almost 50 assorted old computer systems with various pieces of software and had put them in the basement. I started working my way through fixing and trying to get as many of them working as possible. Some were going to be given to families for their own use. Nothing was faster then a 486 (there were 3 or 4 of these working) but there were about 6 C64s. I didn't know much about them and honestly still don't.

I got 4 of them working in a little computer area upstairs for the kids to play around on. There were some games for them to play but the greatest part was the three little ones who were outsiders finding something they excelled at. By the time I left the girl had the two boys working for her coding "stuff" for the 64s. I never did manage to find out what they were coding; I went off to college before they were finished and when I came home she had stopped coming to that daycare but had been given a C64 for her home.

I agree completely. Google has done a very good job of not being evil. However many people see their ubiquitous presence and immediately go OH SHIT! Stop them! Granted there is precedent in the software industry to suggest that this is the appropriate course of action but by and large Google has not given us reason to. I like Google, I use them over Yahoo because I feel I get better results with Google and I like my homepage on Google better. By extension I use gmail as my personal email. Would I use Gmail as a business account for sensitive information? Not bloody likely. Google is so far a good corporation and I wonder how far they will be able to extend themselves before they lose their edge (and profits if they have any, I don't honestly know if they even do). I like Google, I use Google, but like all large corporate entities I don't completely trust Google to do what is in my best interests every second of every day, they are in it for themselves too.
