    You actually made a good point, but I don't understand why you did it AC. OpenSolaris is a great kernal, with amazing technologies, cleaner code, and better debugging support, very stable ABI interface. The only big hole right now in its adoption is the lesser number of device drivers.

    That is changing too with folks like OSS coming forward and providing their drivers into OpenSolaris.

    Also, I don't understand why you're waiting for Solaris to go gplv3. CDDL is basically GPL-the viral clause.

    Holding back participating, due to the this viral clause, has never made sense to me.

    I'm not sure about the GPS, but does have Sun Spots, which have accelerometers on them, which can detect motion in all three dimensions. This is probably the pager you heard about. I know because I have one of these!

    Another Indian thing is open source equated to Linux. There is a very active OpenSolaris UG[1] in Bangalore and many other cities if you're interested in contributing to the many open projects here..

    In fact, Java does a pretty good job of keeping the GUI looking same as much as possible on different platforms. Reading through the website, I dont see any feature that makes it anything more than a Java wanaabe.

    Any body seen anything apart from this effect?

    We have tons of evidence for a whole load of other stuff. You don't get the right to be so virtuous just because you choose to believe one scientific branch. Its the whole way of reason and rationality, or nothing.

    I really can't believe this debate (and the same "yeah, me too!") still comes up and gets modded insightful all the time. The point is not that Christianity's God wants you to worship him through his own insecurity, but that the bible says that the natural state for humans is to worship him -- that humans are happiest when they do so.

    There, do you see where the logic went wrong?

    That would be ZFS, built from the scratch to avoid the problems faced by traditional filesystems. It is, in fact, a volume-manager+file system, with RAID built into it. Not to mention the very easy to use commands.

    COW has been present for a long time in ZFS since Solaris 10. The overhead there is negligible and its quite stable. Last I heard, it was being ported to FUSE on linux. Upcoming in the next releases of FreeBSD and OSX. Wiki has a pretty good article.

    That is incorrect. You are referring to known plaintext attacks, and modern encryption algorithms are built to be safe against these. (Of course it wont work if you've used a dictionary password, but then no amount of secure algorithms can help you.

    These 2 plugins will stop any semblance of an ad from appearing. My pictures dont load up anywhere by default, imglike opera has filters . Try it out
