...you can download ISOs for Vista from Microsoft. Obviously, the disc itself is not important. It's the keys that determine legit or not. I'll bet they found out about this image only recently and this is the spin.
If an average user can't find help in the OS and an average user can't locate how to run a newly installed app, it's not 'Vista Killer' material. With MS Office now available at Costco for 75$ (Student/Teacher edition) and new PCs with or without Windows costing ten/twenty dollars difference, Windows X with Office is not costing the average user $500 either.
Wanting it to best MS at the desktop game doesn't make it true. Those rose colored glasses make you look a little goofy.
I think you are looking for a Samsung YP-MT6. 1 AA lasts about 40 hours, has FM stereo, records from said stereo, line in to record from any other source, built in mic, USB2, 1GB (225-240 songs) and supports all audio formats I can find (MP3, WMA, OGG, VBR x, flac.)
The cingular card works here (Dallas/Fort Worth) and http://dslreports.com/ tests my connection at 170K sec (down) consistently. Up stream is even faster. That is better than my DSL was until I upgraded to it to the 3Mb connection. I have only used it for a week so far, but so far, so good.
...Yamaha has had writers that do this for at least a couple of years. Maybe how it's done is different, I didn't RTFA but I do know you don't have to wait - you could have it now.
The web is your current interface. If your app is 15 years old, you had another interface before. Don't believe this is the last one. Keep you SP and data logic in the database and it will grow even if/when your interface changes. You'll change/add interfaces more often than you will change databases.
Since the average guy has to run the spam filter, virus scanner, Service Pack 12, pop-up blocker and spy-ware removal tools, his new Dell runs about the same today as those did. Why did we have to go from 4.77 Mhz to > 3000 Mhz and and not see near 1000 fold increase in snappyness? Because of all the freakin' 3l337 haxor d00d, because-I-can-spammer's, Gaim a**holes, MS programming school of buffer mangement & X10 snakeoil salesmen.
RH, Debian etc make a lot of decisions for you. With Gentoo, I learned more about how the system works as a cohesive unit since I had more input on it final configuration.
If something was wrong with RH, google had the answer. Gentoo, on the otherhand, requires you to configure almost everything by hand. I knew where to start looking on my system to tweak it. That's how I learned.
I am not saying it's the best way either but LFS was overkill. Gentoo kept me interested in Linux to the point I am now comfortable with it and feel confident I could 'get my hands dirty' in any distro. Before, I was afraid to make many changes since any failure would leave me in the dark since I really didn't have any idea how things were put together.
I have dealt with a LFS install...I don't want to have to assemble an engine from scratch. Buying a crate motor works for me. While buying a car wasn't what I wanted (I am not going to get exactly what I want), neither was buying 2500 diffrent parts to assemble (too much time).
Daniel Robbins day to day contributions will be missed. He has created the simplest way to manage a source based ditro to date. I hope his spirit will continue to influence the direction of the project.
I have learned more about how Linux works in the last year with Gentoo than I had in the previous 3 trying RH, Debian and Suse.
What exactly is the criteria for 'AskSlashdot' quesitons to make the front page. I have seen several 'ask' stories that could have stood on their own on the front but were delegated to the 'askslashdot' section alone - yet not this.
"IMHO a GUI should offer a complete, graphical environment. [...] Maybe you have been disappointed long time ago too, when you installed X with a nice window manager, clicked on that beautiful "Help"-Icon... [...]...an ugly, unsuable, weird xman appeared on the desktop:-("
And 7 years later the help system isn't worth a dime. Don't get me wrong, I use KDE everyday. But this help file will prevent everyone's mom from replacing windows. That help button is just begging to be pressed, only to not answer the simplest of questions.
At least windows moves the help button 2 clicks away instead of putting it on the launcher giving a false sense of hope... er, help... no hope.
...and yes I know mom's don't use the help in windows either...
The way I see it, all of these layers of software are what are going to require faster processors. What exactly will you not be able to do next year with the 3Ghz processor you bought this year?
Then again, are these layers going to cause bugs that can never be found?
It had 3 unnecessary words. It should have read only: 'US Consumers-Clueless'

this is a bad idea because it fragments the user base

Kind of like how Knoppix and Ubuntu have been detremental to the growth of Debian?

Actually, you are both wrong. It's based in San Antonio, Texas.

Windows 2000 was advertised before it's release as only having 7 events that would necessitate a reboot.

...over a year ago. Worked everytime; surprised me. I don't know if they still have it since being swallowed by Cingular.

We can enforce our opinions as law when they hire the new farmer-overlord judges. Anyone here with an opinion to enforce?
Time for a revolution!

That sounds like a power problem. I wouldn't hook those new ones back to the original power supply.
...it will support many things not yet common. So will every other OS at the time.

So your apache.conf file was built entirely from 0?

For a hires version, try here

Don't b an insnsitiv clod! W can't all hav your luck.
I've read that some press reporters still use them due to the great keyboard and 4 AA batteries.
