if the adding of a "K" to the front of an apps name makes you dislike the app or GUI rather than the ability of the app or GUI to do what you need it to do I think that is a shallow and foolish way of thinking.
I am not saying that you don't have valid reasons to dislike KDE, or parts of KDE, which you do. I am actually pointing to the people who hate "dislike" KDE specificaly because of it's naming schema. Granted, I somtimes think the "K" thing gets out of hand, but, I also think that it works, for example Konqueror, Kicker, Konstruct, and to a degree Koffice, using the "K" is actually apropriate and tells the user that these are KDE specific apps. But, overall the naming thing gets blown out of proportion by alot of people because IMHO they cannot find a really good reason for not using KDE, Like it being not mature, or extremely buggy or unusable because of having an inconsistant GUI.
To my observation, knocks about KDE are mainly about it being ugly, the "K" naming schema, KHTML not rendering like GECO or not being able to choose GECO as Konqueror's html engine rather than KHTML. or just plainly KDE "sux" sucks. which I just don't get. I don't really use Gnome alot, so I have nothing to say about it except that without Gnome KDE wouldn't be a good as it is. I think that KDE would be not much different as it was at 1.x if the competition from GNOME didn't drive KDE to really kick-up development to keep up with the advances that Gnome was proposing and did implement. the competition has made both DE's mature and faster than anyone could imagine. and that is the best thing about them both existing, we, the users get some cool features and choice. and, to me that is what's it's all about.
Mandrake is NOT a defunct DISTRO. get your facts stright, they are in development of 9.1 as we speak. all thier web sites are still active. I am still an active club member.
Same here, in my opinion and experiance level All other Distro's are lacking, only Mandrake gives you an easy to use real Linux Distro (it's not idiot proof and it's also not a full blown hacker os) Without Mandrake and thier large community of great people (no damn RTFM assholes) I would have stopped using Linux after my first try.
I am truly amazed about how bad his films have gotten, there is more flash and gee wiz than story. I heard that he will directing another Indiana Jones film, I hope that he doesn't screw it up Like Lucas is with Star wars. what do you expect from a guy who is asshole buddies with Bill Gates.
there were only 2 gravitic ships, the FAR STAR piloted by Golan Trevise with his friend and passenger Janov Pellorat and later BLISS from GAIA. and the other (I cannot remember the name) that MI LUN COMPOR followed them in for the first foundation and secretly for the second foundation.

They keep pushing tablet pc and they get a lukewarm reception from consumers....the companies that make these things keep forgetting that price and usefulness drives a new market. All this talk about "tablet PC's" is a waste until they are being sold for around 250.00 to 500.00 why would I spend 2000.00 and up for it? you would have to be an idiot to spend that kind of money when you can get a High end laptop that has tons more functionality or a pda which may be small but is also relativly cheap. I will tell you what a tablet pc would be good for. when you want to browse the internet in bed or on the pot. it would be better if it was a wireless device for your PC. now THAT would be usefull.
I have read the foundation series a couple of times and as a matter of fact am re-reading "fountations edge" for the fith time, EXCELLENT read, "foundations edge" and "foundation and earth" in my opinion have got to be Asimov's best work.
She was in a gene wilder film "The adventures of sherlock holms smarter brother" If you EVER want to see Ms. Kahn in her acting prime this is the movie to watch! This is a sad day in comedy.
no matter what the reason that commercial software is buggy, articles like this one will only make people see the true value of Open Source Software. having laws passed to wash thier hands of responsability/liability is not a way to gain a loyal following of repeat customers. The true power and value of the OSS alternative is evident more and more every day, propriatary software digs themselves deeper and deeper into the mire with these tactics while OSS plugs away improving and refining without worrying about deadlines or BIG profits.
I wouldn't worry about it, if Sun did as stated it would just be a big PR mistake for them. every buisness has two faces, the concerned, friend of the community, and the "money-grabbing" back-stabbing "who cares about the customer OR the Community" face. personally, I would just stick with one of those High quality Open Source programs like Koffice when it comes out, or just use maxwell, or klyx, or just get wordperfect 8 if you want a commercial product.
