  2. History in Movies on History In Video Games — a Closer Look · · Score: 1

Whether it's World War 2, the American Wild West or ancient Greece, history has long provided a rich source of movie narrative. Historical fact has been painstakingly preserved in some movies, yet distorted beyond all recognition in others. Whereas one movie may be praised for its depiction of history, others have been lambasted for opening fresh wounds or glorifying tragic events of our near past. Movies have utilized historical narrative extensively, but to what extent does the platform take liberties with, and perhaps misuse it?

    so?

If i want to spend my entire paycheck in another country, either physically or online the government should have absolutely no say in that.

The US is well within thier rights to sweeten the deal a little bit, to encourage people to gamble in US casinos, but there is a difference between using tariffs and taxes to promote domestic spending and abusing the legal system to prevent international spending, it desn't matter what the good or service is.

  7. Re:Free speech anyone? on Political Bloggers May Be Forced to Register · · Score: 1

Paid speech is hardly free, if i tell people on my blog to go vote _____ on ____ because i think its wrong, then i'm fine, if someone pays me for the specific purpose of telling people to Vote _____ on ______, then i'm a lobbyist, this is just closing a loophole that i'm sure many higher powers use to not have to register their lobbyists with the government.

meaning, if someone is paying you to say something, then you're a lobbyist. If I go and give my roomate a wad of cash (more than 5000$ during a semi-anual period, if you read the bill) to go and tell people tp contact their senator and representatives about the the recent increase to minimum wage in arizona, because it will hurt my business, and he plans on telling more than 500 people, which, for what i'm paying him hopefully he does, then he is a lobbyist, and lobbyists are required to register.

if i get drunk and decided to post on my livejournal telling people to be pissed about minimum wage because i don't get a raise, then i'm just an angry alcoholic, not a lobbyist, i may need a little AA, but definitely not to register.

the idea is we know where people's motivations are, its like the scene in clerks, where the guy was telling people not to smoke, because he worked for the gum company, knowing what people's motivations are is important in keeping elections semi-honest.

If not, what's to stop people from pouring money into bloggers who are popular to get the public's opinion because they trust said blogger? I'd like to think its important that its known that he's getting a kickback for whatever he's trying to sell to you.

Actually I used to work customer service for a bank. We said stuff like that all the time.

you should try to just tell someone no sometime, the kinda of no that means "no matter who you talk to, or how much you bitch, it won't happen"

I liked telling people "even if you were the president of the bank, i couldn't do this"

    its fun.

technicalities are the types of things that people get fired in banks for letting up on, the fact that paypal isn't regulated by the federal government gives them more ability to slide on things of this nature, because if they decide to say "well i know it's policy, but we can go ahead and give you the money" they just go against their own policy and put themselves at financial risk, if a bank says "i know its a federal regulation, but here is the money anyway" they get fined and have the possibility of losing their banking charter.

it seems like the only time i post on here anymore is with banking related comments.....

its not important to my job to have all the records at home, but if it were, then i'd recieve a company laptop with a number of security features. there may not be a large number of people with the information, because for the most part it isn't a necessity for most situations, and there is also a difference from sitting in a public place analyzing customer information, and having it at your house, there are a number of policies involved in the storage and safety of information. and the diamond analogy isn't valid, because unless you're toting around a safe, the jewelry would be completely unprotected. but even on a laptop the information is going to be very protected, and most people wouldn't even be able to begin to attempt to extract it, and furthermore chances are 9 out of 10 the person stealing the laptop will have no idea that its even on there. the idea behind having the abillity to have and access customer records remotely and having access to those items on a computer away from a building associated with the bank isn't so john the analyst can sit in a coffee house and look at things, its so when people are traveling or living outside of an area with a banking office, that they are still able to do their job, and the need does arise for that situation. unless you work directly in the banking industry i doubt you'd see the need for it, so i'm not going to try and convince people that its needed, but the truth is, its what goes on, its not by any means a stretch and i'd be willing to bet that most companies, even non bank companies have people doing the same.

I work for a major US bank, at a fairly low level, and i have access to a good 90% of information in our database its important to my job to be able to access the information. There are also a number of positions in the bank which require employees to have laptops with the information on it, its locked by a number of features and encrypted, but its still a big deal if one of these is lost, because even though whoever has the laptop might not ever be able to access the information, the information is out of the hands of the bank, i read the article, and the statement from the bank, and nowhere does it say the laptop was not secure or unencrypted.

this isn't that strange that the employee had the laptop, and i work in the fraud department of my bank, trust me, if it was a situation where the information was just hanging out somewhere out in the open, the bank itself would be doing a lot more than issuing an apology. This is just the bank covering themselves publicity wise, most likely there is no actual risk.

I work Customer serice for a bank and you may well be the bane of my existance, if you can check your shit online and choose not to, its your own damn fault, true story.

if you dont want to go online, fine, its just as easy to call the bank to get a balance on your account, the bank isn't going to "scam" you by not sending your bill, because honestly, the shit money they would gain from the few people like you who are too stubborn to get the balance other ways before its late, doesn't offset the amount of money the lose when you call into customer service, i know, because i spend a good 2-3 hours talking to you people daily, and at my pay rate, thats more money they paid me to tell you you're a retard, then was gained by the fact that of the millions of customers they have, a bill either wasn't sent, or more probably was lost in the mail, or passed over you while your head was in your ass.
