    Pre-Google Yahoo had one of the top web directories available. It was manually curated and therefore doomed to failure, but they were for a while a market leader.

    Didn't last long though, admittedly. Wouldn't let that malware infested shitfest anywhere near one of my browsers these days.

    Varies by vendor. Tier 1 SAN storage is fucking expensive, but comically the solid state storage is now coming in cheaper - and faster - than the spindle disks.

    That is what Amazon Glacier is for.

    The upload times for 5TB of data are a bit excessive. The download times for recovery are better, but not really usable.

    Local copy then take the disks to a friend's house. Or pay for a secure site of some form.

    The truth is hard to ascertain, as official statistics can only count actual cases discovered, which are estimated to be a small (potentially only 0.4%) of the total cases. The 2015 state department 'Trafficking in persons' report (see http://www.state.gov/j/tip/rls... for details and a copy of the full report) suggests 1366 new victims were assisted just by the DOJ in 2014 - at a 0.4% discovery rate that would be an extraordinary number of actual victims.

    I think it's reasonable to suggest that human trafficking is a serious issue in the United States, whatever the actual fucking number.,

    I'm pro-abortion and I'm pro-life. I fully support the right of any woman to choose whether to dispose of a parasite growing inside her, particularly if it's endangering her health.

    I'm very much against people using their archaic primitive superstitions such as catholicism to deny any actual debate on such issues.

  12. The Israelis are much more pragmatic and cost effective than the Americans in their anti-terror tactics, they do what works and try to get the most bang for their buck.

    That's curious, I was sure that the Palestinian people were resorting to asymmetrical warfare to try and protect themselves against Israeli aggression, and/or to assault Israel.

    At this moment, the Israelis have indicated a willingness to accept anything short of losing sovereignty over the bulk of the territory which they are currently considered to be sovereign in order to attain peace.

    Israeli settlements in occupied territory prove your lies. Those settlements continue to be an ongoing and direct provocation.

    If the Israelis remove their settlements from the West Bank and return that land to the Palestinians they'd have significantly more credibility when bleating on about peace.

    I haven't broken the law to do this.

    If HMRC want to investigate my tax affairs, they can ask me for all relevant information. Where I personally store that information is not relevant, whether I provide it to them is.

    If they provide the tin but you install the software and add the data, how is it their responsibility irrespective of jurisdiction?

    Problem is, he's only one of a number of politicians in a position to push through bans on driving diesel cars in cities.

    The city near me is considering this too. I need to write to them and let them know that if my efficient relatively clean diesel gets banned then I can only afford a very old petrol engined car, and since a second car needs to have practical value I'll go for a 4x4. Lets see them argue a 12 year old 4 litre SUV is better for the environment than my existing vehicle..

    Under UK (and so probably European) law you do have the choice.

    The companies sucking in all your data and abusing it do not. This is a good thing.

    But feel free to put your own data anywhere you like. Nobody's stopping you posting your private information onto a server in every continent.

    Yes. When connecting the board on my cat's harness to a network would you recommend letting the cat drag the ethernet cable behind it or should I program a drone to hover above the cat and route the cable via that?

    Could you also advise on a drone silent enough to not distract the cat or its prey?
