  1. Re:Outsourcing Outsourcing on Outsourced Call Centers Losing Feasibility? · · Score: 1

I suppose I should have secified which jobs I was talking about. I was talking about call centers not factories. US companys' products being built outside the US has been going on for several decades and I'm not going to disagree that that is the best way to build products as far as expenses go. My comment was focusing on the outsourcing of call center jobs AND, now that I think of it, software companies.

I deal with a lot of 3rd party software companies and theres nothing fun about trying to troubleshoot when you're talking to a guy that doesn't speak very good English.

The point is if you're dealing with a US company and you need to speak with customer service, you should be able to talk to someone in the US or atleast someone that natively speaks English.

    Heres an interesting article.

Hey, I'm not going to complain. U.S. companies like Dell should keep their jobs within the country so they can provide more US citizens with jobs and in turn those people can buy their products - improving the economy (as much as they can).

Thats just a bad analogy, of course you're not going to put regular gas in a Ferrari - that could impose physical problems where a cheap memory card will NOT do the same thing in an expensive digital camera. That is unless the card is homemade or something.

Okay, first of all I didn't say she did something wrong as far as beliefs - yes she did the right thing but they have the right to discontinue her being employed. I'm not saying she should be thrown in jail for the rest of her life, I'm just agreeing that the CIA had good reason to do what they did.

Secondly, I agree - the US has taken a turn for the worse but starting this November, the American people will be doing something about the previous 6 years.

Waterboarding is due to become a banned practice by U.S. personnel (including CIA officials) pending the release of a revised manual on interrogation procedures.

Although I don't have much to say about this quote, other than its good to know that this horrible practice is being banned; I can not argue with the fact that she should have been doing the job they paid her to do and not be expressing her opinion on a system that was developed for business use only. A question I have is, can contractors even be "fired" or does the employer just have to stop giving them work to do?

You're spot on. Although I would probably never buy a prebuilt computer from Dell, HP, Sony, etc. it might come down to it one day with the amazing prizes and payment plans they offer - especially when it comes to laptops. Shouldn't you be able to add a comment to your order requesting that they do NOT preload all of the software and just provide it to you to use at your descretion on a CD as you said? I'm not sure because I have no experience with ordering from any of the previously listed companies.
