Actually 14 months. And I didn't notice it when I linked to it. I don't really follow this stuff that closely, so maybe you can tell me, since the article is over a year old, what was the outcome? Did the DVD Forum change their minds or fail to reach agreement and so no region codes for HD-DVD, or did it end up that they have it, or still will have it, in which case the article is still relevant?
I dropped my Zen Microphoto in the toilet but quickly fished it out (won't go into details, but I'll say it was pretty clean water). I quickly flung it around to get most of the water out and it worked at first then quit working altogether. I let it dry out throughly, aided by blowing some dry air in it, recharged the totally dead battery and about a day later it was working fine again.
I was in a couple of Tower Records (yes they still have them over there) in Japan and the average price I saw for CDs was about $18. That was in Tokyo and Chiba areas.
The difference it makes is that it makes no sense to say that 10C is an order of magnitude higher temperature than 1C. They're both mild winter temperatures, and only about 3% different absolute temperatures.
The hardware maintenance manual for my Thinkpad says if I drop the motherboard from a height of six inches onto a very hard surface it will sustain forces of more than 6000 Gs , so don't do it - it will damage the built-in accelerometer. I think it would be a bit more than 20 Gs to jump off the Empire State Building and land on cement or pavement.
Apparently, you missed my pedantic grammar-nazi-ish point, which was that you said your company had been in this *year* since ten years ago. Re-read your own post. You'll see it.

That was just my first try, but it doesn't really encourage me to try again.
In other words, ten years ago, your company was ten years ahead of its time, but it's been falling behind steadily ever since, and now it's not ahead at all? That's a shame, to squander that kind of advantage.
When I was in the Navy, some E-div-er posted a sign in the *AMR2UL head (that's Navy talk for bathroom) that said: "We aim to please. You aim too, please." I like that version better. The japanese version you quoted is great, but I didn't know that 5-7-5-7 was also haiku form. Is it?

Will someone please mod parent up Informative? I've only been to Japan once for a short time, and work for a Japanese company in the US, and while this guy's take may not be the whole story, it is certainly interesting and based on real experience.
Last night on Philosophy Talk on NPR I heard a discussion about the death penalty and one commenter said that the populations of Europe weren't really more against capital punishment, just that European governments are controlled, to a greater extent than the US is, by intellectual elites who are opposed to it, and that Europeans have just gotten used to that. I'd not heard that explanation before.
If the sound is the only way to tell a good one from a dead one, what difference does it make to the function of the thing? Just curious. Do people just really like the sound?

Looks like that's changing (the first part, I almost modded informative) not the trollish second part. See this.
Isn't it charge cycles that matter, not time?

Maybe "milk" is a euphemism for another white liquid found around computer keyboards from time to time.

Genes don't change but expression of them can change. See epigenetics.
Maybe it is insightful to figure out how to get others to mod your post Insightful.

If you RTFA, it said that the suit is not airtight, and doesn't need to be since skin is quite airtight. It doesn't talk about the thermal issues.
Men prefer blondes? Not necessarily. I must not be a Gentleman, because I prefer brunettes.

The original title says it: "You forget..." In this case, you forgot that this is Slashdot.

Just curious: why does everyone keep saying $87 when the TFS says $79 + $6.95 i.e. $85.95, or basically $86?
Someone on Slashdot has a quote in their sig: "The plural of anecdote is NOT data." And you have only one anecdote at that.
You forgot "screendoor on a submarine".
