  1. How about sum total of OSS web servers on Will Microsoft IIS Overtake Apache? · · Score: 2

In the world of Open Source, I would also like to see the sum total of Open Source web servers VS. IIS:

Nginx http://www.nginx.org/ ( really popular and at least this is in one of the graphs)
Lighttpd http://www.lighttpd.net/ (personally, I have found many reasons use this one in the past and I'm sure I will again)
Cherokee http://www.cherokee-project.co... (yet to explore past a basic setup)
Roxen Webserver http://www.roxen.com/products/... (Still need to take for a spin)

And then special purpose web servers.

    HTTP Explorer http://http-explorer.sourcefor...
    HFS HTTP File Server http://www.rejetto.com/hfs/

At least that's all I can think of. Anybody else?
I know some of these take up negligible market share, but I would still like to see their market share lumped together.

If not DRM laden, such a thing could be a huge win in Linux.

When people opposed to religion "single out" Christianity, they really do mean all of the above and more. It's not bias so much as just being easier to generalize by citing the dominate religion as a blanket for all of them rather than specify each and every one every time. This is with respect to situations where someone specifically cites a religion with intent of focusing on that religion. The worlds religions are very different and can only be discussed disassembled in depth one at a time.

However, if they are ever up for having "the talk", I am happy to corrupt their beliefs with a dose of reality. Likewise, they can try similar on me. Although it rarely comes to that either way.

I realize that they do this so if one tab crashes, it doesn't take down the whole system. But the only thing that makes Chrome unstable in the first place is this behavior. Don't believe me? run this command:

    ps -eo pmem,comm | grep chrome | cut -d " " -f 2 | paste -sd+ | bc

Now start opening more tabs with content and run the command again. Open more tabs and run it again. Memory usage sky rockets. Now try the same command but replace chrome with firefox, midori, or whatever else you have. Big difference.

I would say this discussion fits in well with the frequent discussions we have about the alleged impending death of the desktop computer. Consider the argument that PC's which were brand new around 2007/2008 are still so overpowered for most needs that this is the cause of declining PC sales. Now consider that much less expensive than Intel, yet also brand spanking new AMD chips are practically supercomputers compared to chips from that era. If my 2008 PC is still really fast, but I want to upgrade anyway, why pay the Intel premium (outside of some ultra-demanding professional use) when I can save so much and still have a computer that will be faster than I need for years to come. That's AMD's advantage in this game. I currently have a quad core 3 GHZ AMD system with GPU disabled in favor of a low cost NVIDIA card and it's great. I am waiting till next fall for the price to plummet on current 8 core 4 GHZ AMD chips for my next upgrade. And even then it will be just for the hell of it, not need.

The article states that they are currently making about one per week. I don't think anyone over there has the money for this, which brings it back to a charitable cause.

When the $100 figure is cited, they are not saying that the Sudanese will be forking over that sum, they are saying that at that price point, they can be provided as a charitable cause. The first exoplanet found orbiting a main sequence star was discovered on 6 October 1995, around 51 Pegasi. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/51_Pegasi

It was only detected by gravitational wobble. Prior to that psuedo-exoplanets had been discovered but they involved non-solar system type objects such as pulsars. After the 1995 discovery, scientists slowly made more discoveries based on planetary wobble. At that time, the ability to take pictures like what we have seen in this article seemed farther flung into the future than we are now - if possible at all. But science is persistent and new technologies were developed fast. Now here we are imaging planets as they orbit their stars and the technology to image them continues to accelerate and advance at breakneck speed. If the development of scientific instruments were a race, planet finding and the LHC would at least be neck and neck if not having planet find slightly in the lead. There is preliminary work going on that promises views of extrasolar planets at resolutions as high as viewing the moons of the outer planets with our best telescopes - some say it may be possible to image planets with the resolution of looking back at the Earth from the moon. Is there no obstacle to discovery science cannot overcome? Time will tell. These new ultra-resolution planet find tools are hoped to be developed and ready by 2025, When I consider how far we have come and fast fast, I am inclined to believe we may actually get those images in that timeframe - despite how far fetched that kind of resolution may seem today.
