""Person $x is a spammer retard, don't buy their book.""
That to me that doesn't sound like libel, but IANAL. Now if they would of accused you of fudging your research, or claim that you are a card carrying member of N.A.M.B.L.A., or say that you didn't really have a degree in X, that would be libelous. Besides, I would guess most people that read reviews from sites that let anonymous people post would take those reviews with a large grain of salt. I know I do. But freedom of speech must be protected - sometimes you are going to have to hear things you don't like, but that is the price we must pay for freedom.

And what if Anonymous Joe used an anonymous wireless connection at a coffee shop, or the hallway of an apartment building?? It really isn't hard to put more layers of anonymity on if you try when going online... Making everyone up the chain liable is just a Bad Idea(TM) - all I would have to do to get revenge on anyone with an unsecured wireless connection would be to use their connection to write libelous statements, then sit back and watch them get nailed. This is why online publishing and real world publishing differ. In the real world, you know who REALLY published it.

"It's not like global warming was unheard of - it just has a credibility problem."

That's because people like to get political instead of scientific when addressing the issue. In the film, it is stated that out of 928 scientific studies on global warming, zero had any doubt that A) it exists and B) we are causing it. So it depends on if you want to listen to science, or politics. Usually the people with the loudest mouths on both sides of the issue have the least to say. Whether or not you believe that it is even happening, it may be prudent to at the very least look into it a little.

That is being annoyed at someone else's opinion. Your opinion is not any less or more valid. Just because you do not agree with something doesn't make it "wrong" or "irrelevant".

"If the movies were mostly shit, ala SW prequels"
Again, those are your opinions - there can be no definitve "fact" that the movies are good or not, because good or bad are all subjective opinions.

"Hey, if you don't want an earful, qualify your statements,"
Well, I was pretty sure that was what I was doing when I stated "All art is objective" - if you think that is a false or uselesss statement, then why are you arguing about it, thus proving my point? And I DO want an earful, that is what discussing differences of opinions is about.

I'm not saying you are right or wrong about the movies being good - because there is no "right" or "wrong" answers - only opinions. Scream yours as loud as you want, but don't tell me or others that we can't do the same.

And you know what? You are both right. Other's opinions are of no less or more value than yours. If you have the right to call it great, he has the right to call it shit. If you are "annoyed" by someone else's opinions of art, you should not discuss art with others.

If you still think gold is more valuable, you still have the option to buy it - albeit at fluctuating prices. And those price fluctuations had something to do with giving up on the Gold Standard.
