In North Korea, if you are so much as caught with an unauthorized radio, you are as good as dead.
I doubt a North Korean could get access to a computer unless it was part of his job. And if so, then he had better use it for that job and nothing else. Attempting contact the outside world in any way is treason.
I tend to fail to report contacts with foreign nationals (did it a few months ago, Oh Nooes!). I have an unusually high interest in producing 3d animation and outer space. My 'job scope' is Computer Science. I keep unusual work hours regularly - and on campus. And Sometimes I play hookiee.
does that mean that there should be a democratic process to decide on what "1 + 1" is? Or the definition of 'is'.
Sometimes, you gotta do what you gotta do. Democracy is about choice, not consumption. If I had to loose something so that my kids or grandkids won't starve to death in a freak dust bowl I'd gladly give it up. If the majority of the population agrees, then it will happen. That is how Democracy works.
Assuming the computers cannot be restarted in a day or two, the shuttle and station crew will have to depart. Without those computers, the station will be put in an ever increasing spin due to tidal forces. Once the shuttle leaves, it will never be able to dock with the station again.
Eventually, the orbit will decay and cause the station to enter an uncontrolled reentry. By uncontrolled I mean hundreds of tons of flaming white hot metal could end up crashing in a heavily populated area.
It's interesting to hear repeatedly that they are making so much effort in this area. The obvious target is the United States, though they could effectively attack our allies as well.
Coupled with anti-satellite weapons and a developing blue water navy - One could say they are preparing for conquest.
The rewards are enormous. China could completely destroy our networks and economy in a single day with a well coordinated strike.
That's not enough time to move our forces and fight back.
What is DOD doing? Spying on their citizens and making life a living hell for Iraqis.
Yeah, I was thinking- All right! Ghost in the Shell! (You know, the Japanese Miracle, the swarm of micromachines capable of removing radiation from the environment.)
It's not. This part of the bill will be used for another purpose. It seems like a really good way of imprisoning anyone they don't like. And just where are all these criminals going to go?
Right, learning Blender is no worse than learning Maya. Also, the interface is unique, but I wouldn't dare call it dated. Finally, I'll have to disagree with the jumping-through-hoops thing. A guy named Brecht has created a Sub Surface Scattering module, which will has been added to the 2.44 Release Candidates only 2 weeks after he began showing it off.

What a stupid joke.

I guess I should watch my back for spooks huh?
This is so awesome! You know politicians typically bend the laws in their favor - Bush is certainly no exception to THAT.
I hope the RIAA attacks him and I hope that this forces Bush to fight the RIAA.
That wouldn't be enough for forgive him for everything he's done, but it could be a start.
Also, I'm getting a "page not found" from the Blogger links. Perhaps he was silenced?
Never underestimate the Reality Distortion Field.
Canonical is out of range of Microsoft's Patent arsenal. Mark is also a smart guy and knows what's really going on.
I think everyone kinda knew this already, though it is nice to be sure.

Watch, as all your tax dollars go down the drain.

I hope it doesn't, but you never know.
They don't support Linux? How is that possible?
You forget, we also export bullets.
When Microsoft came for Novel,
I remained silent;
I did not use OpenSUSE.
When they locked Xandros into a deal,
I remained silent;
I did not use their software either.
When they came for LG Electronics,
I did not speak out;
As I did not think it meant anything.
And finally when the suits came for Ubuntu,
there was no one left to speak out.
Embrace, Extend, Destroy.
This is interesting. Russia... demanding IP? Wow. What are they going to do if their demands are ignored? Invade?

RMS is not just another zealot. He is the freakin POPE.

There was an upside?!
I went ahead and read about this guy and his party. My first thought was "hey, he doesn't seem to bad".
My second thought was, "Oh wait, I'm in America, I've been desensitized."
China is quick to legislate change. I believe after this, all of their social organizations will adopt Linux for the sake of national security.

Guantanamo?!
Correct. Because the second your legally purchased version of Windows goes haywire and declares itself invalid - you are boned.
Yes, I think its funny that they are using a screen shot from a game instead of an actual photo. Do they think we're so stupid that we won't notice?
I emailed NO to the Real ID. It took less than a minute.

Sounds like you should have said yes.
Working at Google is like going to heaven. And it's next to impossible. So they know they can do anything they want to you once you're there.
