not only that , but what if you pirate stuff you already own ( legally ) . It can be a lot faster to just download it , then to go looking for some scratched cd stacked in a box somewhere , wich probably won't play anyway.
You payed for that , so why shoudn't you download it ?
Also , what would the price be ? A new song is a lot more expensive than a song played 20 years ago.
Dehydration (hypohydration) is the removal of water (hydro in ancient Greek) from an object. Medically, it is a condition in which the body contains an insufficient volume of water for normal functioning.
and for you :
Joke:
A joke is a short story or ironic depiction of a situation communicated with the intent of being humorous. These jokes will normally have a punch line that will end the sentence to make it humorous. A joke can also be a single phrase or statement, such as with sarcasm
this article is a bit strange , since wikipedia has always existed on the balance between inserting new information , and replacing other information.
But what some might find to be useless information , others might find usefull . That is , however , not a problem , since the information is split up in articles . You search it , you find it . Most articles are structured in such way that you can easily find basic information , and more trivial information divided in chapters .
advertisment is pretty difficult , since any information about a product , is advertisment in every sense of the word. But that doesn't mean people won't be interested in it . It seems normal to me that the page of Coca Cola tells me what products they have.however , spreading that information is advertisment.
It becomes a problem when it's no longer neutral information . A list of the products should be fine , but we don't need stories about how great the product really is.
In GPL , anything that is derived from that code , must also be published under GPL . So all code use must be GPL .
Lesser GPL changes this , in that it allows the LGPL'ed software to be linked with non GPL'ed software ( ie it can use non gpl libraries)
This means that , if OpenOffice remains pure PGL , then there's a problem if someone wants to extends OpenOffice with properietary libraries . This problem doesn't present itself with LPGL.
Off course , there's a danger that the proprietary code becomes a main part of the application , making it basically a proprietary application.
So what you're saying is that pakistanis are backward monkeys who see communication devices as western witchcraft. Nice tolerance you got going there, in another context i'd mistake you for a muslim. </quote>
Well , now you are generalizing.<br/> <p>Just change 'Pakistanis' with 'Pakistani government' , and i'd say 'backward monkeys who see communication devices as western witchcraft' is a pretty accurate description.</p>
<p>It's clear they see youtube as some kind of evil thing , which the Pakistani people must be protected against.</p>
Think 'hd encryption key' . Most people that had the key , and put the key in their signatures , where never going to use it to create a program that can decrypt hd-dvd's . They just did it because , when something is outlawed , it becomes valuable (and cool).
So having certain information , in no way implies that you will use it. It's even more likely to be the other way around : if you are planning a murder , you would be cautious not to let that information lay around , while someone without that intention , will probably be quite careless about it.
Well the desktop systems for Linux keep getting better and better , so what's the problem .
Linux works great for the desktop . If you look at the newest window managers , it has all the stuff Windows has , and then some more .
The files themselves are not downloaded from the tracker . The tracker is like a map , telling peers from who they can download . It controls the traffic .
But with 10M peers , even that becomes a huge amount of traffic .
Ubuntu's numbering is based on the year and month of a release .
For instance 7.04 means is the release of April , 2007
I think the person writting the article means the 7th release , wich is the latest release (7.10) .
A part is also maintenance and upgrades. You can't keep a tracker running on outdated hardware.
Also , it's important to note that TPB isn't the only site they are running. They have multiple projects they work on , and spend money for that too .
And there's no real problem with ads . If you want , you can even block them with adblock . If you compare that to some spyware infested p2p programs , your choice is quickly made .
I agree with you . While i like the fact that i can get stuff for free , i also like to donate to artist that i think are worth it.
But there are also songs , created in such way , that when you here it at first , you want it to hear it more , and then , after a few weeks , you realize the song actually sucks.
If you bought it by then , you've been screwed . I'd rather givbe my money to artist that actually create timeless , good music .
Switch to a more user friendly ISP then.
"This is how it works. Whatever you sink, we build back up. Whomever you sue, ten new pirates are recruited. Wherever you go, we are already ahead of you. You are the past and the forgotten, we are the internet and the future." -Brokep
You should understand that P2P is not just something solid . It's an idea , and cannot be destroyed .
It depends on what you put on that computer . Childeren are always curious . If you put mainly educational software on it , and make that attractive ( for instance in the form of a game , they will learn from it ).
You underestimate a child's desire to learn new stuff.
Put edubuntu on a computer , as the only OS , and let your childeren play with that. Most games on it are educational , so they will play that . It's not because the market creates a hype around games that teach only violence , that childeren would suddenly only be interested in that.
But i agree that they can not replace teachers . But it can help in places where there are no teachers. In the end , it all comes down to good parenting : parents should keep an eye an what their chileren are doing with the computer , and assist and provide information.
While i do think health care is a matter of great importance , and so a major punishment is in order , a charge of murder seems a bit ridiculous .
You might just as well charge him with genocide or crimes against humanity.
There are more important lessons to be learnt here . Like , who could this have happend ? Was the security lacking ? Was the person given to much trust ? And more to the point , how can we prevent this from happening ever again.
GPLv2 worked fine for Linux in the past . Why wouldn't it work fine for Linux now . It would be less acceptable if Linus immediatelly accepted GPLv3 , without looking at it . The fact that he stays with GPLv2 means he looked into it , and decides to play on the safe side and stay with a license that worked well.
not only that , but what if you pirate stuff you already own ( legally ) .

feeling very tempted to make beowulf cluster joke about it
good idea .
That leaves a hole in the market , namely defensive devices this , like a tin foil t-shirt , sweater , etc
Together we will make millions .
I prefer to put my own pc together.
That way , there's no license costs , i know what i'm buying , and it's a lot cheaper in total .

with PGL i mean GPL offcourse ( dyslectic by lack of coffee)

Warning : telling people that a site is malicious will lead to increased traffic for that specific site

That's just my view on it
i don't know , but we could use unix style naming :
like that BLAST :
BLAST Large Area Space Telescope
But then we miss a part about Gamma rays
Well the desktop systems for Linux keep getting better and better , so what's the problem . Linux works great for the desktop . If you look at the newest window managers , it has all the stuff Windows has , and then some more .
Who are you to judge the quality of TPB ? Or any other torrent site for that matter . It's not like you are paying for it .
Trust , it saves a lot of bandwith .
The files themselves are not downloaded from the tracker . The tracker is like a map , telling peers from who they can download . It controls the traffic .
But with 10M peers , even that becomes a huge amount of traffic .
Ubuntu's numbering is based on the year and month of a release . For instance 7.04 means is the release of April , 2007 I think the person writting the article means the 7th release , wich is the latest release (7.10) .
So , if u would follow your argument , all trucks should be banned , just because they can be usesd to transport contraband.
It's like saying that Nokia should be sued because terrorist might use their phones ( insider TPB joke )

Finally , a good excuse :-)

When i'm frustraded at some application hanging , i take it by the title bar and shake it a few time . Helps to reduce frustrating.
