    Just came from the Wikipedia article. There is not a single item demonstrating that the Black Panthers used violence and intimidation against white people.

    The finished the marathon (launch very heavy satellite), they just failed their secondary goal of leading at least one mile of the race (landing on barge).

    No, sure the power supply is part of the cooling system but, purely in the context of the cooling system, if its powered down then it isn't doing anything. If it isn't doing anything then, technically, in the context of the cooling system alone, nothing happened.

    But surely, a cooling system that powers down just when you need it reflects a design flaw. Isn't that also obvious?

  9. Before we get too far into the celebration over the fact that we'll be able to use all the fossil fuels forever and there will never be a downside, I'm just curious. Does anyone know anything about the website that is the source for this story? thelatestnews.com, it's called and it looks a little weird. There isn't a single link in the actual article to anything related to the actual scientists or anything published about this work. Just a YouTube video. I also found this story in the "Business" section of the site:

    They start by saying in the title that this "bitwalking" thing is financial nonsense, but by the end of the article, they're saying why they think it's a brilliant idea.

    I'm just a little concerned about who is behind this news site, but then I'm naturally suspicious.

    No, nothing happened to the cooling system. If they are powered down thats the very definition of 'nothing happening'!

    Let me see if I understand what you're saying: The cooling system's power supply is not technically part of the cooling system?

    Does that mean that the power supply in my computer is technically not part of my computer?

    Um, nothing happened to the cooling system in Fukushima, the backup generators and power feed lines were washed away, leaving no way at all to power the cooling systems.

    "The problem wasn't the cooling system, it was the fact that the cooling system didn't work!"

    Just because a group supports you doesn't mean that you support that group.

    Maybe not, but it definitely demonstrates one of the properties of your appeal.

    If all the neo-Nazis and KKK groups support you, then it might be time to do a little self-examination, no? Maybe just ask yourself, "Why are these people all coming to my side?"

    Yep. They could have put a $2 shield on top of the thermal exhaust port that led directly to the reactor core.

    That's the definition of poor design. Failsafes for when something comes down the exhaust port are all well and good, but it's not good design if you plan for a solution after there's been a problem instead of simply preventing the problem in the first place with a much cheaper fix.

    The liability concerns alone mean it won't happen.

    Corporate medicine won't have any problem getting you to sign a user agreement that waives your rights to claim liability and sends all disputes to arbitration instead of a courthouse.

    A lot of people haven't noticed but we're losing our rights as consumers as fast as we're losing other rights. Maybe faster.
