When we refer to Monster Cable(TM) we are talking about a 2 metre off the shelf bit of cable to connect a TV to a set top box. You have a point if we were wiring up a building with dozens of metres of video cable that required exacting standards, but then you're hiring professional cablers who will provide you with cables meeting exacting standards at wholesale prices. Most people just want a cable that goes from the TV to the Cable box, what level of attenuation is happening here?.

In simple terms you'd have more chance of losing the signal (dropped call) even though you had a relatively strong signal (bars for the average moron). If you can see it you can copy it even if that is just pointing a recording device at the screen. Realistically all you need is an input device that can take an encrypted HDCP signal and output an unencrypted signal, hardware DRM broken and I can imagine this being done with a hacked TV. Once you have that output the DRM is useless.
Content protection is useless and adds nothing to the product. Well it does add cost to the product but few see that as a benefit.

Apple seems to have very specific ideas as to what HTML5 should be. This reeks of the same kind of standards manipulation that MS used with IE in the 90's in order to force sites to write for IE rendering engines rather then an actual web standard. I think we need to take the specification of HTML5 away from interests like Apple and MS (perhaps even Google) and put it back in the hands of the IEEE or another group that will allow input from the likes of Apple, MS and Google without permitting them to co-opt the standard.

Relying on callerID is fine but a password must be enforced. The password is key, you already know my /. username but you dont have my password.
