    I'm shoehorning my Raspberry PI into my TV. Planning to leech power from standby circuit, and using HDMI-CEC to use the TVs remote control the RPI. Network via 802.11N.

    More than once? I've never met anyone that actually uses video chat. Not even iOS users.

    But does that imply that someone has the right to force the manufacturer to open up their source code?

    Does she require the code to be "opened up"? AFAICT, she wants to check the code, nothing more.

    If I was the manufacturer of the device, she'd sign an NDA and get the code. Worst case, she spreads the code and gets sued. Best case, she improves the reliability or security of the code.

    I don't really see any problem here.

    You'll save a lot more battery if you undervoltage your CPU. Eg. My Galaxy Nexus by default runs at 1350mV. I can run it perfectly fine on 1200mV, even overclocked to 1,4GHz. By my (possibly completely wrong) logic, the faster the CPU runs, the shorter time it spends in higher voltage states. Thus, overclocking and keeping the same voltage (or even undervoltage) actually saves energy.

    (Of course, underclocking also achieves the same since the voltage is lowered automatically. But then I've got a slower device rather than a faster device, while using more or less the same amount of juice.)

    Which also sucks, because people use random images and use tagging to describe different people. Facebook made me play the guessing game twice. Almost half the pictures were completely useless. In one picture, a bush was tagged...

    Seriously? There's not enough facepalms to cover the stupidity of truthers. I had a hope that slashdot would be one site with few. I was wrong.

    I personally know three airline pilots. They all confirm that once the plane is airborne, there's not much skill needed to fly it. A few hours of training i FlightSim really does get you most of the way.
    (Yeah, I'm just addressing that one issue. The rest is so beyond moronic that I don't need spending time debunking the crap. A simple google search suffices for most people with an IQ higher than George W. Bush dog)

    That's a very nice thing btw. Since the dollar value has sunken like a stone, everything I buy from abroad is really cheap. Keep up the "international standard" and worthless currency.

    The comments below the Nature blogpost gives some additional info though:

    You're right that the sample from the unit 4 fuel pool does suggest something odd, but Matsui himself admits that it could be down to contamination. Moreover, the video posted above shows very little evidence for extensive damage to fuel in the unit 4 pool.

    So Matsui himself notes that it could be caused by contamination, not by reignition. In fact, the unit 2 results would suggest that that is the case.

    Time after time, the data has shown that SMSes *should* be giant cash cows for these monopolistic entities, but lacking internal financial data it has always been difficult to make an issue out of this at Congress.

    Why should Congress bother with SMS pricing? Isn't that what competition is for?

    Your car unexpectedly looses (some) power while making annoying noises. This will not in any way confuse the average idiot driver. Nor will the requirement to push a bloody button unnecessarily remove any focus from the actual high-speed driving.

    While a "speed-limit-reminder-thingy" sounds nice, a "speed-limit-reminder-thingy" that interferes with your driving doesn't.
