    BlueMountain made the counter-bet that bond holders would lose when GM went into bankruptcy. And that was backwards from normal bankruptcy actions. And Andrew Feldstein, who founded BlueMountain, was a college buddy of President Obama, and both Feldstein and BlueMountain were significant donors to the Democrats and President Obama. Not as significant as the $13+MM of the UAW, but still pretty big...

    China is facing an economic meltdown of their own making. The only market that's been "hot" in China has been the real-estate market. But the Chinese are waking up to the realization that it's not ownership, just a 75 year lease. And with the inversion in population growth coming, the number of houses on the market will vastly outstrip the demand. They'll end up with more houses than people - and the value of homes will plummet. Taking with it a significant portion of the Chinese wealth.

    Hey, it worked for President Obama when he illegally bailed out GM and his college buddy was running the 2nd biggest recipient of the benefits (an investment firm that somehow was the only one to bet that GM would fold and that bond-holders and those with secured loans would lose). Of course, the biggest recipient got most of what they wanted, but when you give $13MM+ to the President's re-election campaign, you get a LOT of favors back...

    They have them already. The best selling EV in the world is from BAIC in Beijing: the BAIC ev160. You can get one for around $9000; an entry Tesla model S (the lowest cost Tesla you can buy in China) starts around $115,000.

    As of right now, any automotive company in China must be at least 51% State owned - meaning, it's a Chinese company and they get to run it as they want, and will do so as soon as Musk is no longer needed. Banking, steel, transportation, telecom - those are the big ones the Chinese Government reserves for itself.

    Yes, illegal immigration costs money. Provably so. I guess if you think otherwise, you'll willingly let anyone who desires to move in with you for free, you can feed, clothe, educate, protect, and provide healthcare for them, and their services as an occasional maid or cook would more than offset the costs?

    2.2 delivers two channels of audio, left and right, and additionally two other channels limited to the lower 8k of left and right, for two subwoofers.

    The "3.." prefix however means they are faking those 4 (really 2) channels by using only three total speakers/sound sources.

    Yes. And they produce a 3.2.2 ATMOS surround experience. That's why it's called what it is. You get 3 front channels, two subwoofer channels, and two elevation channels. All from the speakers in the unit. Just like ATMOS soundbars.

    In which case the "analog hole" with a $50 sound card still gives you lower SNR/THD+N than a turntable or cassette - and eliminates the DRM.

    Check out what soundbars do. Check the ATMOS spec. You can put all the channels in the same physical place as long as you can beam-form and steer sound to where it needs to be. Derp, indeed...

    It's actually a Dolby ATMOS numbering system. The front 3 (3) are left/center/right. The next 2 are the subwoofer channels. The last 2 are overhead/ATMOS channels. So a 3 around/2 sub/2 elevation speaker setup would be 3.2.2. If you pair it with a few surrounds for the rear, you'd have a 5.2.2 system.

    You don't remember too well... They used your phone and iTunes use to target ads on their iAds platform. Yes, iAds is gone - but do you think they're also no longer using your data to target other services towards you?

    I connect a USB cable. Or I can just click on the Bluetooth icon in my Windows system tray, and then drag and drop files to or from my phone. No need for a server, or 3rd party.

    I like to just plug a USB cable between $DEVICE and my phone, and just drag-and-drop files because my phone enumerates as a flash drive.

    Here you go. You don't have to use Google, Facebook, Twitter, or any of those if you want a smart phone with a secured, hardened OS. You can strip pretty much all Google tools out of Android, you don't need to use any of the social/data gathering platforms.
