As long as I've been paying online, they've charged a fee if you use your credit card. No fee if you pay from your checking account, and this hasn't changed.
This article illustrates why I don't regard Slashdot as a reliable news source.
I got rid of my car a year ago. I ride my bike to work most days and take a shower at the office. Or if it's snowing I'll take the bus, which is much less expensive than driving a car, and unlike driving isn't a total waste of time - I can read a book or the paper rather than sitting there fuming at other drivers. I also don't have a smart phone. I really really want one, but I don't need one and I don't want the extra expense.
If you need a car or a smart phone for your job, those are good excuses for having such things. All I need for my job as a software developer is a dumb phone, some decent clothes, and some smarts.
I'm a cancer survivor. I'm also sympathetic, to a degree, to alternative medicines. But never for cancer! I have known a number of people who tried to treat their cancers through diet, herbs, acupuncture, and so on. Every one of them is dead. Every. Single. One. For cancer, you need the big guns, the heavy chemicals, the knives, the radiation. They leave lots and lots of collateral damage, but at least they have have a chance of keeping you alive for awhile longer.
So when I see people like Burzynski preying on frightened cancer patients and their families with their snake oil, it makes me see red.
You, sir or madam, are ignorant. Most insurance plans don't cover hearing aids. And try to get one of these digital hearing aids through the gummint. Ain't gonna happen.
With all the complaining here about this being useless info not worthy of the front page, the site is slashdotted. Can someone please post the path to the application?
Learn C++? When I was laid off from my C++ job almost 5 years ago, almost nobody was hiring C++ programmers in my region. I ended up getting a Java job on the strength of my C++ experience (and picked up Java on the job in no time). Learn Java, learn C# and.NET - those are the areas that are hiring.
I'm a 61-year old software engineer. I learn new technologies every week. A few years ago I taught myself Java in 3 days. I am respected by my colleagues, many of whom are young enough to be my grandchildren. The only thing holding you back is your attitude.
40 years old? Get off my lawn and off your ass and go learn something new.
And does that $329 monitor double as a docking station? (For what it's worth I wouldn't buy a Thunderbolt display, but you're comparing Apples to meatballs.)
You, sir, are too ignorant to post. Please surrender your Slashdot ID.
If you had ever seen the Xerox GUI, you would know that Apple took the basic ideas or vocabulary of icons, windows, etc., and developed their own unique GUI that was completely different from the Star and was arguably better.
"I wonder what sort of technological wonders the companies involved could come up with if they took all the money they're giving to lawyers and spent it on R&D instead?"
I wonder what sort of technological wonders the companies involved could come up with if they stopped copying Apple and concentrated on coming up with something original.
The fact that this complete fabrication is currently rated +4 Interesting while the two factual replies are rated +2 and 0 Troll says something about the quality of moderation here. Is there a cadre of antisemitic whackos with mod points?
When I was a wee lad, I loved spinach. Why? Because I watched a lot of Popeye cartoons on the marvelous wood-cabineted black and white television set in the living room. It didn't help my spindly forearms much, though.
This wasn't the Washington Post saying this, it was a columnist who writes a weekly column for the Post. Saying that the Post says this is like attributing George Will's tirades to the Post. The Post publishes opeds from all over the political spectrum that may or may not reflect the editorial stance of the Post. Thiessen is a right-winger from the American Enterprise Institute. If you want to get pissed at someone, get pissed at the AEI, not the Post.
When FIOS installed my router, the tech changed the password from Password1 and didn't tell me he had done it, or what the new password is. I contacted Verizon about it and they just told me to reset the router to factory settings. I haven't done it because I frankly don't trust their advice and am concerned that something vital to connectivity will be reset. Opinions? Should I bit the bullet and reset the router (I would like to make a few changes like unpublishing my wireless access point)?
I used to hate the idea of speed cameras until I saw how they were slowing traffic on a major street near my home. Now I wish they'd install them on my street. Maybe I could walk across the street without taking my life in my hands. Don't want a ticket? Then slow the f*ck down!

technology coming down the pike. the new diesels look especially intriguing. And it appears the rotary isn't dead, it's just restin'.
It's pining for the Fords.

Is anyone other than the anonymous coward familiar with this? Real or scam?

$100 per credit hour isn't nearly enough to compensate for the destruction the MBAs will cause throughout their careers.

I wish I had mod points, I'd moderate you as -1, Brainwashed.
Yeah, tell them you refuse to buy any more of their film!

I saw this in a theater back in the 1970s. Cheesy and funny (mostly intentionally so). There's nothing new under the sun.
