I have used Gnome with Mozilla in the past, but KDE 2.x that comes with Slackware-Current seems a lot better solution now. The only thing is that KDE 2/Konqueror takes up a LOT of ram, but I guess the speed is nice, and with ram prices being so low it does not matter that much anymore.
The only connection I can get is modem or dish (witch sucks for online games). So me and a friend of mine play network games. Good games that have "LAN cooperative multiplayer" modes are: Boulder's Gate, IceWindale, Diablo, Darkstone (a lot like Diablo). Some games, like MW4 have "LAN cooperative multiplayer", but you can only do one mission at the time, you cannot play the campaign/story game in multiplayer. If anyone knows other games like that please e-mail me. Again, I'm not looking for Deathmatch games, but cooperative play.
I have used Redhat, then SuSE in the past. I have also tried Mandrake, TurboLinux, Caldera and Corel Linux and others. But now I run Slackware, I have learned how to compile from source and use CVS so that I can have the newest software RIGHT NOW. I guess I don't like/trust automated tools to do things for me. Sometimes packages are nice, but often they are out of date, week, month, few months and in Linux World programs can change fast. I have tried Debian before and have to say that it is very high quality software, but I found dselect hard to use and confusing. This is the only distribution that I would switch to in the future. SuSE is nice too, with the amount of programs it comes with. However, they want $ for the Full version and only the personal is for free (last time I checked). Yast is a nice SuSE tool, but I rather do things by hand, and learn how they work.
The Democratic Party has to shape up or will be replaced. Change is good.
People who are not afraid of adversity (Bush, persecution, death) are those who are truly free. I believe it is time to trade in some of our security for our freedom.
Example: If striking workers would be afraid of loosing their job, they would not strike and not get back their freedom/right.
The only reason why I pay attention to this election IS because
of Ralph Nader. He is the only politician I know that talks about
the influence of corporate power on our lives.
I would hate for Bush to win, but I think that Gore would break
many of his promises. The name Al Gore does not bring into my
mind terms like: Populist Leaning, Progressive Liberal. Al Gore
seems liberal on social issues, but fiscally conservative and
Bush is socially and fiscally conservative.
If Gore looses, I hope it is because of Ralph Nader. I hope it
sends a messages to the Democratic party that they need to
become more fiscally liberal. I hope it makes them look at the
issues that Ralph Nader has addressed:
Poverty
Against Corporate Welfare
For Universal Health Care
For Social Justice
Against WTO, NAFTA, World Bank
For Gay Rights
For, Drug problem = Health Problem
Against Death Penalty (unlike Gore or Bush)
For Family Farm Not Big Agribusinesses
Against Your Tax Money going into Billions in Military Spending
For Minimum Wage Increase, Living Wage
For Environmental issues
For Individual Privacy
I'm not a US citizen, but I'm a legal permanent resident of US. It seems to me that when there is poor economy, people vote Democrat because they want Democrats to put more money into social programs, to help those in need. When the economy is going great, people vote Republican. Republicans usually give a big tax cut, by trimming down the social programs and then the economy goes back to where it started.
If I could vote, I'd vote for Ralph Nader. Why? Because I think he is left of our Democrats when it comes to the economy. Oh, yeah, and some have said that he is a communist? I don't think so, he does not belive in government control of means of production, so that pretty much does not make hime a communist. I think he belives that a Democratic Republic like US can work for both the wealthy and the poor, in times of good and bad economy. I think that his fiscal policy is much more important that his views on social policy.
Please flame me, I need feedback. I know my spelling suck...
I use www.usbank.com. They have just changed their online banking interface and I had problems with both Netscape and Mozilla. I called them and they said to use newest Netscape (4.75), I upgraded and it worked! However, Mozilla still does not work with USBANK online banking.
I have to use Netscape also for www.linuxmail.org and my work WebMail, mail.digitalgreen.com:8383.
Did we not already have a Slashdot story about this in the past??? Let's agree on this:
The "Mac People" say:
No, Unix is not an OS
The rest of the world says:
Yes it is.
What is your stand on corporate abuse, campaign reform, homelessness, human rights, hunger and poverty, labor rights, rape and domestic violence, gay and lesbian rights, separation of church and state, toxic and chemical waste, WTO IMF World Bank etc, and abuses of mulinational corporations?
I have been interested in SuSE Since 6.1, I have 7.0 Personal Editon right now. I bought 7.0 few weeks ago, but it is still not on their FTP. I think they are trying to hold out, so that people but it first, damn it!
6.4 has been on their FTP right away after it was in the stores. I'm thinking that they are starting to get greedy. I'm not saying that SuSE is the best, but I like it better than Redhat, Mandrake, Caldera, TurboLinux, Slackware, because it comes with a TON of software.
I guess, from now on, I will HAVE TO buy SuSE to use it, and I don't like it. I mean I have bought 6.1, 6.3, 6.4 in the past, but I did not HAVE TO. Now that they are MAKING me buy it, it is time to switch to DEBIAN or something. I think Stampede is another non-profit Linux distro. Does anyone know of any other non-profit distors other than Debian or Stampede?

I'm a Linux user, but my desktop looks like a Mac. Gnome and KDE seem to take up a lot of memory, and they are too "windowsie looking". I guess if I was just starting out with computers and Linux I would like them, but now I rather use a light window manager like Enlightenment or WindowMaker.
It is good that people use Macs, as long as they don't use Windows. If there was no Macs we would only have 2 choices (ok, not 2), now we have 3.

It seems like there is possibility that Microsoft dominance might be comming to an end some time. I hope that they require Microsoft to Open Source all of its applications and past and future versions of its OS. Hopefully we won't deal with another "Microsoft" in the future. And maybe someone will get interested in Intel and its policies too. I guess there is many companies in other industries that make Microsoft look tame in comparison. There always is hope though...

Enlightenment is sweet! It is easy to customize, and I can use all GNOME and KDE programs in it.

I have been waiting for this since I started using Linux, about 6 months now!
There are a few major things in Linux that need to be worked on, but this has been the most critical. THANK YOU XFREE86!!!
You are right on target! Following standards is far more important than "new features", that do not display right on every web browser.
Battlezone is great! It is like "Starcraft in 3D"
