...for hackintoshes, period. If you want to run Mac OS X and Mac applications properly, you can just buy an Apple machine. Apple will not likely give away it's crown jewels to some cheap-ass laptop maker. Why is this so hard to understand? I mean people have been posing the same old question since 1984. Apple is, and has always been, the Mac OS (or, originally, the System), bundled software and hardware that's extremely tightly integrated with the software, and this will *never* change.
This possibly the stupidest advertising campaign I have ever heard of. How does this build confidence in the Toyota brand? How does this treat the customer in a respectful manner? How does this make people buy Toyota Matrix cars? The very unprofessional and careless people responsible for this at Saatchi & Saatchi and the people at Toyota who signed the approval should be fired immediately. Yes, this woman was probably not really in real distress, but maybe she should have the money just to make sure this kind of advertising never happens again. Unless, of course, further evidence reveals that it was clearly stated, or plainly understood from the very beginning, that this campaign was a joke.
"Meanwhile, Jerusalem is communicating with the Kremlin about a list of Russian scientists it believes are assisting Iran's efforts to develop the bomb."
If you are referring to the capital of Israel that would be *Tel Aviv* and not Jerusalem.
I *never* shut down my Macbook Pro, and only restart after a software update that requires it. Why shut down when the machine has efficient power management? I don't see the point. Windows is such an old load of bollocks, I will never touch it again.
I measured the RF levels of all electric and electronic devices I had in the office and at home, and the Wi-Fi base stations had the radio emissions of all the devices I tested. An old CRT TV and a microwave oven had moderate levels and my GSM mobile phone was by far the most high-powered of them all!
That is not to say this man hasn't got problems, but the symptoms are cause not by wireless base stations but by something else, his stress levels or social situation in life perhaps. It could be he simply suffers from severe sleep deprivation.
Now, I am NOT putting him down. I take this VERY seriously because I have been suffering from stress myself, but I know there is treatment for this in the form of medication and therapy.
Base stations are however, and I can say this with some level of confidence, absolutely harmless because the power levels are so very low compared to all the other RF we are constantky surrounded by in the modern world.
I want a phone that's designed and built by a single company, with a reliable operating system and software distribution model. So, simply put, vertical integration is fine. I don't see any reason why Apple should open source the iPhone. Apple, and the iPhone, are doing just fine, and this results is great products.
As I was saying, it's a very small percentage of users. Linux is a great thing, but it has largely failed to make an impact i the market, probably because there is no single dominant distribution, at least two popular user interfaces, and lots of user interface problems and limitations. Evolution was a great initiative, but they somehow went out of business. I like Linux and I want it very much to reach out to a wider audience, but as long as there are so much fragmentation of Linux' mindshare, it simply going to happen. It's still, ten years late, a VERY small market.
I'm happy. As long as Ballmer remains CEO of Microsoft, Mac OS X and Linux will continue to thrive. That guy doesn't seem to get anything right. Ballmer is great for all of Microsoft's competitors.
We are talking about software here, not robbery. Microsoft doesn't need to be punished for past crimes. Microsoft needs to be controlled and very tightly regulated, and other vendors should be given the exact same chances. Thus, no PCs should be sold with Windows installed. The user will have to buy, steal, borrow or download that separately.
I am normally not the one to defend Microsoft, as I think the company, their business practices and almost all of their products suck bad. But I think shipping Windows without a default web browser, or to force Microsoft to bundle in Firefox, Safari or some other browser is problematic and actually unfair. Yes, unfair, because how can Microsoft be responsible for other people's products? Instead, the way to go in my mind is clear: As long as Microsoft doesn't make their own PC hardware, why not simply outlaw the sale of PCs with Windows pre-installed? The customer has a right to choose whether he or she should have Windows, some flavor of Linux or maybe FreeBSD on a new machine. You could argue that Apple should be forced to unbundle Mac OS X so you could install that system on any PC, but I believe that's different: the Mac OS and Apple's hardware can be seen as ONE integrated product, whereas the basic PC is a modular product: hardware plus OS and bundled apps. Unbundling Windows would force Microsoft to a) build their own machines and/or b) sell Windows ONLY in unbundled versions. The latter case would be very beneficial for customers.
Just get them iMac 27" machines and they will be happy!

The Mac has had multiple-button mice since the end of the 1990s, but you already knew that, right?
But I hope they won't do this to the Mac version of Firefox! What a stupid, ugly, rotten idea.
That, my good man, is just too cool! How did you find it?
That's 8,3 percent of the population!!!! How is this possible in modern times?
"the unmatchable power of GNU/Linux" Linux is not "unmatchable" by any means. There are other operating systems with the same capabilities.
Airborne laser? Pffffffffff, just toys. What's needed is a real Death Star.

What a useless piece of junk. But yes, even in a recession, some people have money to throw way I suppose.

How does David Niven fit into this? ;)
I agree completely! Microsoft still don't get it.

And get a real life.

That will never happen, not in a million years.
Linux' share of the market is in the 0.1 region, whereas Mac OS X has 9.9 percent. Windows has nothing to fear from Linux.

I'm very happy with Steve Ballmer as CEO of Microsoft. What's bad for Microsoft is good for everybody else.
I'm not the one who is confused, buddy...
