If the just turn them off then the systems wit the problems will HAVE to be fixed, isn't that the idea?
Perhaps instead of just turning them off when the time is up, start now by redirecting every request to a webpage explaining what is wrong and a link to a removal tool.
Pay to win on steam? Where? You can craft anything you can buy in tf2, perhaps not the day it comes out but soon thereafter. Also in a team based game, a single player having an uber-weapon does not assure his team of victory.
Rule #1 being that you do not connect control systems to the internet. I don't care how good the hacker is, he can't overcome an airgap. Which leads to, Rule #2 Train your people well enough not to fall for helping him.
The unlocked chips are sold at a premium and are with a sold to the overclockers, Personally I'm an AMD guy unless performance requirements justify the extra $ but I think it's excellent that Intel is extending real support to the overclockers, they are after all the "bleeding edge" of enthusiasts.
There is NO reason whatsoever that libraries need publishers for ebooks. There must be some association of librarians that are capable of weeding out the wheat of ebooks from the chaff and there is certainly no lack of authors. Perhaps we will even start getting books in categories that the publishers are neglecting by choice like Hard Science fiction, Steampunk or Cyberpunk. I am sure that you have a category or two that you'd like to see more books in too.
Once the publishers figure out that libraries are only buying and lending independently produced ebooks and are buying fewer dead tree editions they will change their minds (and demands) in short order.
Hell, if done right ebook sales could be turned into a cash cow for that Librarians Association, if not for the libraries themselves.
It's my understanding that the camera systems that run suspended on cables over the football fields and up and down the sidelines are run on forth, not that that's a huge job market but it's still in use.
Good for you and please, don't mind me when I point and laugh when you break something and can't get your problem solved in time for that all important customer meeting where they would sign the check if only your system worked.
Sadly, the that does not prevent them from being used as methods/carriers to get malicious software past the company firewall.
Also, any programmer could create a virus for any platform any day of the week, just because YOU or the AV company hasn't head of one dosen't mean that it does not exist.
Ignorance is NOT bliss, ignorance is danger that you aren't smart enough to recognize.
In about 1971(ish) friend of mine's little brother managed to get a dart to the top of the head, he was about 7 at the time, and as I never hung out with him (I was like 4 years older than him) before that I cant say what he was like before that but I can assure you he was never quite right thereafter.
worrying too much about arseholes are why we can't have nice things.
There, fixed that for you.
The bottom line is that nothing you can do will stop the people that are going to pirate it no matter what. NOTHING short of not releasing it will prevent them from getting a copy for free and thinking they are the hot shit because of it.
Lets say that there are 1000 of those people in the world that want your product, is it worth pissing off the 100,000 people that legitimately buy your "product" with annoying DRM to slightly annoy just one of those 1000 jackasses while he breaks whatever actually useless DRM scheme you PAID EXTRA to use on your product? To say nothing of the fact that you are pumping up that one jackholes ego by giving him some drm to crack!
Well that's all of my.02, I'm off to go buy a comedy album, even though I've never seen this guy. Maybe I'll check out youtube first.
Ya, I think the lesson is clear to anyone that isn't an idiot, or working for a DRM creation company.
If Microsoft is indeed using tools like Google Analytics for applications they are completely ignoring what those tools tell them, Windows 8 is the windows mobile interface that everyone hates on a larger non-touchscreen. I predict that the FIRST thing anyone will do with windows 8 is shut that damn thing off.

Geekoid,
Do you have any idea how stuff actually works on the internet?
Seriously, if eldavojohn is so wrong, what do you consider to be the right way?
Do you even have the slightest clue about what you are insulting others over?

Microsoft may have finally found a way to completely kill off console gaming.

you are posting AC to criticize posting AC?
YOUR head should asplode from the idiocy.
People being paid to push a viewpoint can afford to haunt /. to make their owners point.
I've seen way more of your bullshit than anti-microsoft bullshit.
Come to think of it though, I HAVE seen a great deal of PRO-Microsoft bullshit lately so perhaps he has a point.
Ok, so replace "all" with "95% of all" I'd still rather not freeze.
Wouldn't glaciation pretty much end life as we know it on the planet? You can't grow anything on an ice sheet.
Given the choice of planet wide starvation and freezing VS moving to high ground and breeding heat tolerant crops,
Given the choice between the extinction of some less mobile less heat tolerant species VS the extinction of all species,
I pretty much know what I'd be in favor of and it dosen't involve freezing to death
How about one of those self winding watch mechanisms then?
That was a very profitable time for all my consultant friends and I.
I look forward to businesses putting it off till the last possible second and paying me double to do it RIGHT NOW!!!!!!
