Haven't we had them for a long time already? I remember reading a couple of years ago about some DIY hobby guy putting together an aliens style sentry gun out of an old camera and a paintball gun. And if a DIY hacker can do it, the military has it. Also, don't Predator drones already have autonomous kill capability?
Except you're not taking into account the angle of the plane of the orbit, or where in the orbit the BetaPicB was at the moment the image was captured. This means that there is a significant cosine factor missing from your calculation.
Actually, you can't tell anything from the picture, because there's no scale. Is the 25 pixel blob 1.65*Jupiter? Is the solar "blackout" disk 1.8 solar radii? Is the distance from the center of the blackout disk to the center of the blob 8 AU or 1, or something else entirely? There's no way of telling.
Hello. This is OnStar. We notice by our tracking system that your mileage has improved We are concerned because the sensors indicate that you are carrying about 180lbs less weight since your recent stop by the river. Did you leave someone behind?
Fine, except they're not imaging 1AU diameter planets that are a mere ten LY away. They are imaging Jupiter sized planets at 63 light years away. Using the data from wikipedia (Jupiter's radius*1.65)/ (distance to Beta Picrotis B) = X/(distance to the Moon), they should be able to resolve objects with a radius of about 5 cm. In other words, Armstrong's bootprint should be a pixel or two across.
Oh! Sure. They can take images of planets light years away, against the light pollution of the planet's sun, but somehow they don't have the resolving power to image the license plate on the lunar rover to silence the moon landing deniers.
...a smart TV would come out with a quad HD tuner, an ADSL modem with VOIP handset, wireless base station, 4 ethernet port switch, decent CPU/GPU/Storage, SteamOS running MythTV, LAMP stack, personal cloud services for email etc..
Then I could replace the half dozens devices cluttering up my living room.
Did you ever try MessagEase? It takes a little getting used to, but it's a lot easier to use for those who don't have emaciated, spindly little fingers.
What's more, the US-controlled GPS system can be crippled at will by the US military - and was for the longest time, until fairly recently.
Although Selective Availability was turned off (in reality, the random offset was set to zero), don't believe for a moment that the US military has given up that capability, or that they don't have similar backdoor capabilities on other satnav systems.
Why should the freedom stop with hunting?
Why shouldn't the freedoms that we enjoy also extend to flying drones?
To put it simply, your freedoms and use of them stop when they interfere with the exercising of my freedoms (and vice versa.)
Drones aren't silent. If there's a drone tracking me while I'm tracking game, it will scare the game away and prevent me from exercising my right to hunt.

Launches and ISS rendezvouses are risky enough on their own. No sense in adding to the risk if you don't need to.

Our economy is increasingly based on collecting, trading, and exploiting customer information, rather than actually making and selling a product.
When's the bubble going to burst?
Customer information *IS* a product.

How many governmental agencies are in charge of "National Security" ?
Navy Army Air Force Marine Coast Guard NSA CIA FBI TBA ...
How many governmental agencies are in charge of "Law Enforcement" ?
SEC (for financial/security) DEA (for drugs) ATF (for guns) Marshall (for witness protection)
With FBI withdrawing from "Law Enforcement", who is in charge of interstate criminal activities, racketeering, and so on ??
Responsible for? All of them, and a few more besides. In charge? That's a complicated jurisdictional question, but ultimately "We, the People".
There is only one Germany. They unified back in 1990.
So... the rubber molecules are like Higgs particles?
No, the shape of the bank exerts a sideways force on the car. This causes it to turn.
And there was a spherical cow

Dyson or Hoover?

What, like a QNAP box of some sort?
People on average do not need to diet.
Just Americans?

Meh. As far as I'm concerned, fish sauce is off the moment it's made, no matter what it says on the bottle.
Putting yourself at risk of a crime, doesn't really excuse the criminal for comitting it.
Do you know a better way of being caught and punished for a crime than committing the crime?
I am sure you can explain to us why it was Jesus' own fault to be nailed to a cross.
Yes, it was his own fault. In fact, it was his own plan, and the very purpose of his life.
It's not the US space program that keeps Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman in business. It is the US military.
Disturbingly, the stock price of the top five US defense contractors have experienced a distinct and steady rise since the beginning of 2013.

And not all of us do time travels all the time. :)
I think most of us do. I had no idea there was a way to stop, or to adjust the rate of movement.
Sure there is. Gravity wells, travelling near the speed of light...
not only can you use the excrement to find your way back...
Hansel? Is that you?

Whatever happened to NASA's Cool Robot of the Week website?
Windows is held in place by corporate fiat
It's like you're a Fox News commentator.
I notice you left out the "not by merit" part of the sentence, so obviously you agree with me on that point.
