Oh oh, we might as well get "Tonight Show" on cnn cancelled, comedy network abolished, hollywood closed.
Its another form of ENTERTAINMENT man ! And quite impressive and sometimes quite hilarious one indeed !
Maybe it is their "Work too much, be in good diciplinline, tradition" heritage, but japanese can really crack themselves and the audience up with what they do as entertainment.
Some of the mind-bending laughter i had over my whole life were from animes.
You would do better to take a more positive view and try out some of the more prominent anime titles.
Well, it did not. Egypt has only been able to go as far as caanan (middle lebanon) around 1500 bc, and at that time they were fighting against the hittites, another superpower. This period lasted short, and the reason ramesses II is named such a great pharaoh is that he have undersigned most of the military action egypt did in that period against other nations. Almost all other time egyptians were either not fighting, or fighting amongst themselves. They were a rather self contained nation.
The reason people propose that 'they are not doable' comes from the economics and the way of life of the era, not only technology. These buildings are megaconstructions, even now. Just as 17th century europe was not able to build a london bridge, it is shady proposition that egypt, a mainly agricultural nation was able to do hordes of similar projects by itself, and in such a short and turmoiled time.
If the money buried in oil drilling, distribution and developing, manufacturing and distributing AND maintaining combustion vehicles were poured into electrics, we would be using cars like the one mentioned in the article for fun by now, or as 'classic'.
The combustion scheme went further than it was capable due to the fact that the governments and big money can control oil production and distribution - whereas any weirdo with the right equipment can produce electricity enough to charge a car - profit loss for big corps.
This should be prevented. People are coming forward with hilarious schemes to exthort money from corporations, even though there are corporations out there really sucking their blood for 50 years.
Oh well, they are in a critical point already. XP has gotten old, vista is being delayed much, and is not spoken about highly around the net - its said that not much change from xp. There is something stirring up in mac front, linux got too widespread, apache taken over iis in webserver lead and so on. Yea youre right. If ms does not do something good these days, the struggle will probably reach to a level ground for ms competitors at last.
Delegating the functions of the government to private sector is a logical step, but it is too much in infancy since it was only progressively widespread in the last century. There are major flaws with it :
First of all, corporations exist to make profit. Furthermore, as the stock market and 'investment' became popular, corporations (not only healthcare) started to change hands easily - investors getting out, new 'groups' coming in. And all these groups intend on profits. Their focus is profits. And they pressure the corporate management to give ever better returns on their investment.
This leads to what ? NOT better service. It leads to high pressure to increase profitability. And the managements do that. They have to. And if they dont they just get replaced by a management who WILL do what the investors want. So the result is 100% focused on MONEY.
It happens generally so that, some interest/investment group totally unrelated to the field of healthcare might take over a company. As they are just investors who put in money and want money back, and they almost never see the company they bought, or the people it services - ie they are totally unrelated to the field, do not know anything and do not feel any responsibility or affinity to it, the result is generally the worsening of the service/the public consciousness of the company. A good example for such occurences would be the gaming industry - where once mighty trendsetter companies are turned into manufactured, fabricated, makeshift game makers to get bigger profits, after being taken over some big 'investor' group. Why ? because the investors know only money, they invest and want back. They cant wait for passionate aims to be reached, revolutionary new stuff if they wont be bringing in the maximum profit.
This has far reaching implications in more serious sectors like health industry. Companies in this field live to make easy profits on people. And as it is paid by the government, and if you are a big interest/investment group that can affect or place senators to speak for you in the senate, voila - you hit a goldmine of easy profits.
This is one of the problems that havent been solved with privatization of government functions. It goes on almost every field, not healthcare. So in that respect, and until that problem is solved (maybe in a way teddy roosevelt did in the early 1900s) it is logical for people to propose a more government weighted healthcare, beause it is a matter of no chances and risks.
Isnt it ? While being a matter of jokes all around the world for delaying vista and the problems theyre having with it, they still pour lots of money for msn. who uses msn anyway ?
I used to run adsense in a hobby site i run. One day after doing a code modification i was checking out the site. One of the ads appeared in adsense was very absurdly worded and caught my attention. I clicked on to check what it was. It was some place selling ebooks etc or sorts i dont remember now.
After some time, i logged on to check the adsense account. A little later that day, voila - invalid click activity, account disabled ! No responses except a pre scripted stupid, flat-face, cold text.
It seems that the moderation / the staff that created the moderation code were MORON enough to think that there were people who would attempt to earn a total of additional $0.5 by clicking (with the same ip !) 5-10 times a day on their ads, and then be stupid enough to log in to their system without changing their ip ! So this is it - if you mistakenly log in to your account, after clicking on an ad with the same ip, nomatter what reason - youre bust. And the people who actually do such frauds do it with scripts that change ips automatically from amongs the ip farms in their networks which they are maintaining for that purpose still.
This does not end there either. I heard that if somebody has some grudge with you, and gathers 10 or so persons to click on the ads at your site regularly for a week without your knowledge or slightest idea, voila - youre blown away again. So its not too much an effort for the competitors to oust their 'foes' in schemes that only monastery nuns do not know.
Google may be doing things the right way in many endevours, however it is clear that they have hired the wrong bunch of idiots to define what is fraud, and what is not.
If the society is going to take the responsibility for good upbringing and protection of children to THAT extent, what are parents for ? We should erect cloning centers and have it the safest way then.
They are cutting down social security but they always find the money to feed the military industry complex.
From where ? From U.S. Taxpayer pockets.
Ah, in addition the same taxpayers will have to replenish the military ranks using the machines they paid to manufacture when a war starts - tanks, guns...
In short, theyre surrounded in all sides - first pay for the machine, then pay to use the machine with your life.
I agree with you in that one. However one has to consider all the assets it has. Democrats are a more valuable asset than republicans when it comes to preserving net freedom. The better among the worse, im saying.
It was in Democrats' time that internet was spread all over the world, and it became the medium with the most freedom ever known, and it is democrats again who are trying to protect it.
they made until now ? They were able to pay startling amounts to actors and actresses so far ? Much extravaganza was going on. There will be a little less parties and splendor around for them, but hey, they still are better off.
It is vision when something becomes successful, and it is lack of it when it doesnt.
The problem here is, in all the examples you have pointed out, the attempt has given clear signs of its success, and some of them were attempts that were made in areas that would definitely be a neccessity, but yet virgin.
Search engine area was not virgin when ms started concentrating on msn, and they have not gained any considerable ground since, and furthermore there is no considerable gains in sight.
Insisting on this, i deem a lack of vision.

As a hardcore gamer, i guarantee that new xbox will be outclassed by new developments in pc graphics, sound, gaming hardware after 1 year of its launch.
People do not generally take into account the fact that, the people who buy consoles happen to be people that came from Atari background, and have affinity with consoles - ie they are a group in hardcore gaming. However the similar crowd in pc gaming group, and what they are capable of doing with their absurd hardware produced by leading gaming hardware and peripherals manufacturers go way beyond consoles at any given time. On top of that we should take into account the fact that almost all standard pc owners are able to play recent titles with appealing detail in graphics and sound.
Having said that, i think that the no console, leave aside xbox will never be the dominant gaming platform as long as there are pcs, but as they have a cult following microsoft will always make some profit there, unless ousted by competitors. REcently a microsoft spokesman had announced that ( i dont remember when it was) up to (that) point in time, ms had always lost money in xbox in order to gain foothold in gaming market.
Come to think of it, we arent seeing much new spectacular innovations, new technologies etc around lately ? I mean compared to the 90es ? Do we ?
Things we get are hybrids of existing technologies - which can happen to be revolutionary at times, but it seems that there isnt any big bang anymore like it was back then ?
Have we reached a stagnation period of it/telecommunications development, like it happens between big breakthrough periods.
I wonder what will the next breakthrough that will unleash something like the situation in the 90es will be. Telepathy ?
Microsoft has indeed shown lack of vision by concentrating not on where its strength laid, the operating system, but instead parleying with the competitors in 'side ventures' it had expanded to.
I cant complain though, i believe that this has given the open source community time to breath and catch up.
Well in that case i must admit that this issue has shaken my confidence in the concept of 'big names' in the internet. I firmly believe that it would lead to a mess from the systems examples i pointed out that have too many semi arbitrarily definable and practiceable limitations and procedures.
If big names can propose such disaster too, then there is either of the below 2 situations we have in our hands :
1 - The 'big guy' concept is too exagerrated and overrated
2 - The 'big guy' has an inferior motive.
In either case we would be in a position that would leave us with noone to trust.
Ill be putting it on the 'acquisition device' tonight thanks.
Nay actually. But ill definitely put it on the list if you give me its full name.

Well the software was not good, but it was strong in that it was almost a monopoly you know.
That aside i do not see any need for upgrading my xp to vista.
Nothing would be a step as big as this towards the big brother.

Japanese have already made big mileage on something that does not have magnifying glass anywhere near.
But 100% the most use would be made by guerillas i guess, in various parts of the world.
I propose that rather than giving crecedence to personas, we people should concentrate on the end result of the argument proposed first.
