err yea, that's kind of off topic. Anywho, do you think if your allergic to cats? That means you allergic to cat meat as well? 'cos you know a $4000 cat pie would be kind of cool.

That's because "profiling" - you know, exercising actual forensic science, is DoublePlusUnGood in today's society because a minority might get "offended." Of course you don't want to offend anyone, that's not the goal. The goal is supposed to be to identify and check the most likely suspects, regardless of what the profile characteristics might be; the fact that in this particular case it's middle-eastern ancestry and subscribing to Islam is just an unfortunate thing. To search whitey just to be PC and not be accused of "racial profiling" is just plain ridiculous, because the truth is it IS racial profiling, based in forensics. Yes, we know most Muslims are not terrorists, most scorn the violence (evangelism via force) that Mohammed embraced for a short time in his life, but the fact is that most of the terrorists are Arabs, so it only makes sense to focus scruitiny there.

Yep and if you define racism as "prejudice or discrimination based on the belief that race is the primary factor determining human traits and abilities" then that's racism too. We, seem to have made a choice as a society that racism on the whole is a bad thing and that we should judge people on their individual merits. Making decisions based on skin color offends our sense of justice. On the whole I'd agree with society on that one.

Whow there. I'm not talking about graphics I'm talking about the raw computational power, you know for science! I've several problems which don't require lots of memory but to require huge amounts of processing power, the PS3 is far faster than any desktop computer you can buy for the money today. The question is will it be when it comes out... I'd say that's quite possible... But hay, maybe by the time the PS3 comes out we'll all have Quantum computers on our desks and be living on mars...

As for a PS3 emulator, I'd wait until we have a reasonable PS2 one first.

Well personally I think it's too soon for the hoards of crappy unintelligent World War 2 murder simulators we have. Yea, it's sensationalist and it's trying to shock, but there might just be a point in there somewhere, even if it simply shows how shocking we find games about tragic events... better that than exploiting the deaths of millions in world war 2 for profit.

The real problem isn't the monopoly it's being able to do what you want with the equipment you own. What if the games console became the mythical convergence device? People started dump their PCs and using XBox's? Can't run any code unless it's signed by Microsoft? It'd be 1984 baby!

It's not going to happen obviously, but having a device that I own but can only run code that Microsoft say it should run is just wrong.
