Great post. I absolutely agree with you. Sadly, maybe my imagination is failing, because when I saw those towers on the river it took my breath away. I'm pretty sure there were towers described in the book, but I never imagined them being so impressive. I tend to gloss over some descriptions and focus on the plot, unfortunately. So, after reading the books so many times, it will be fun to see images put to the words.
But if they wait for someone else to fix their machines then they will have more sympathy with users who have to wait for someone else to fix their machines:-)
An earlier post also had a problem with paying for content on top of access.
Let's consider an automobile as "access". Access to marketplaces. And physical goods are content. Should I complain that I've already paid for my car so I shouldn't have to pay for toilet paper at Target?
(Please don't anybody bring up a distinction between physical goods and "free" bits - Intellectual property does have value to those who create it.)
What kind of rates are we talking about? I pay $45/month for AT&T in Minneapolis, MN. Is that a lot? I'm very happy with the service level now - I'd be concerned about any change that might affect uptime.
Of the many good scenes from the Holy Grail, this is one of my favorites:

Man. Sorry. What knight lives in that castle

DENNIS
I'm thirty-seven.

I-- what?
DENNIS
I'm thirty-seven. I'm not old.
ARTHUR
Well, I can't just call you 'Man'.
DENNIS
Well, you could say 'Dennis'.
ARTHUR
Well, I didn't know you were called 'Dennis'.
DENNIS
Well, you didn't bother to find out, did you?
ARTHUR
I did say 'sorry' about the 'old woman',

Oh, King, eh, very nice. And how d'you get that, eh?

Hypertext links. Does that answer your question?
Inform them that their lack of quicktime support for linux is hurting their bottom line.
Because a bunch of geeks can't freeload short movies off their server? This is hurting their bottom line?
I think the key was to use the word "Prehistoric" :-)

We the nerderati, maybe, but probably not the literati.
Can you say, exaggeration?
Sorry. I don't read every comment in every story and this is the first time I've come across this post. I didn't know. Please forgive my moronity.
Just type "band name" "song name".
Somebody always has it.
Yes. It was an awful horrible thing that happened in New York and Washington.
So: When will it be ok to talk about ordinary day-to-day things?

Speaking of award winning trilogies, one that I've never seen mentioned as a possible film conversion is the Foundation series by Asimov.
I love the foundation stories, but I'm not sure if they would translate into good movies. There is a lot of talking and not that much action.
No sour grapes here. I suspect that the reason I never get modded up is that I never make substantive comments.
Man does that sound needy. Why do you care about the moderation?
Hooray for you!
BTW, is it only the dead Apple enthusiasts who are offended by this?

If people are consuming it then I'd say they are finding some value in it.

I think it was "having a personal life" is like stealing from the company. Either way, funny stuff.

Yeah. So?
Man, it's so hard keeping up with these threads. I hadn't even noticed that the conversation switched to "The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe"!
Thanks for letting us know!
I got it, and thank you :-)
"I could care less" works for me if you inject a little sarcasm into it. Hard to do in text however.
