Ok, so I disagree with your game preferences a little. I think Super Monkey Ball is great!
But the real point is that with the games they force you to get in the package, most people won't like all of them. It's essentially a mechanism to get you give them money for nothing.
It would be a much better deal if you could select 3 games, and get an extra couple controllers.
I would choose Zelda TP, Super Monkey Ball, and either Red Steel or Rayman. I wouldn't get the special warranty, or subscription. My GCN warranty was 12 months, despite the idiots at EB telling me it would only be 9 .
The cost of video games does not depreceate that quickly. Since there aren't that many games that everyone would want, I'm guessing it will be loaded with useless exras.
I'm thinking: Wiimote Carrying Case (with Nunchaku Pouch) Strategy guide for Zelda, Wii Sports, and Excite Truck pretty Wii posters Wii themed stickers and a whole bunch of other crap.
It's not just a problem with I and L. There are also upper, and lowercase issues, and as you mentioned the mess on top can make letters look like others.
I have certainly failed more than one time when posting on digg. I've actually just given up at taimes, because it didn't seem to accept my captcha entries.
So, we all know that running proprietary software on linux has been done. Some distributions actually ship with it.
What I'm wondering is if microsoft can find some dumb way to make its product vulnerable to attacks. What if they actually weaken the security on the entire system (not just their app)?
I know, that's pretty unlikely to happen, but I have an exagerrated fear of microsoft.
Yes, I thought you would likely be older than me (6 years as it turns out). My goal was to further your point that age range is not an issue. I did not want to say my elite gaming skills were more impressive than yours.
I looked it up, and Dragon Warrior was released in 1989, so your 10 year guess seems accurate. I'm certain I was 5 because my brothers got their turn before me, so it took me longer to get my hands on it.
I will attempt to be more tactful in my future posts.
So, you're saying that some stupid people started using it in spoken word, and it became common enough to get into the dictionary, and that, somehow, if enough stupid people say it, it's acceptible to use in writing?
Every mention of the word I've seen says not to use it, as it is not an acceptible word. the m-w reference you used even said "Use regardless instead."
I hope that eventually the word will not be used in anyone's speech, or writing.
Of course, you were probably just pointing out that there are all sorts of stupid words, because the english dictionary chronicles language. It doesn't define the language.
Just say that the Wiimote is better at certain things. I have yet to see how a game like Mortal Kombat or Tekken would work on the Wii. How do you kick, jump and punch in sequence?
Classic Controller maybe? There's also the gamecube controller, but the d-pad is in a bad location for those fighting games. The wiimote could also be used turned on it's side, but you'd be limited by two buttons, so that would suck. The Nunchuck+wiimote could work too: 1 joystick, 3 triggers, four buttons on d-pad.
I love Earthbound with a passion, but it wasn't really revolutionary. It had a great story, very entertaining elements, and pop-culture references, but the plot was linear (not a bad thing, just already done) and apparently the whole story in modern times thing was already done.
Final Fantasy VII is the first game I can remember that had a main character die as part of the unavoidable main story path, and the first game that truly moved me to think of games as a medium for creative expression in terms of the storyline's divergence from a linear path.
Chronotrigger had both a main character unavoidably die, and a divergent story line. In fact when THE main character died, you could choose whether or not to resurrect him. There were many side quests, and about 16 different endings depending on what you did with them.
How does FF7 even get mentioned, when Chronotrigger doesn't?
That is incredible! Thank you so much for pointing it out, I know of some specific uses I would have for those things.
It's really awesome how something like that is even practical for visualizing 2D flows, I can see that being useful for some math/engineering work I've come accross.
I use KDE. It's ridiculously configurable. Many people actually complain that it has too many options. Pretty much anything can be configured in the "Control Center" or by right clicking the item you want to modify.
I just go into the control center, and walk through all the different options, and select what I want. For example, the fonts section allows you to choose the fonts for all KDE apps, and (I think) it affects most other apps that run in KDE. To remove Desktop Icons, just go under desktop->behaviour in the tree view. The panels can be completely customized too (all buttons, apearance, size, location, appletts, etc.)
None of it requires editing config files, so it's pretty easy to do. This is actually the reason why I like KDE more than Gnome, and Linux more than other operating systems.
Everything is done with either numerical entry, or object snaps and constraints. Many 3D design packages actually involve doing a rough sketch, then adding constraints to the geomety, then adding the numbers.
An interface like this will make tool seletion faster, rough drawing faster, and numerical entry will be easy too. The only drawback is that it may be more difficult to select objects with less precise input.
For anyone who doesn't know yet, there was a database error, and we can't reply to eachother until it's fixed. It will take a few hours.
There is a story about it on the main page, please stop asking about it.
Do I sense bias? From a Slashdot Editor? I would have never thought such a thing possible!
If they're unemployed, then they couldn't afford the console. I assume they're just playing hookie, or they have rich spouses and parents.
I say we somehow modify the PS3 to make these people become productive members of society. That, or kill them.

Where can I get one? Seriously, it beats a shower radio anyday.

I finish most of my good RPGs in about a week (or less). I'm the type of gamer that will spend hours at a time playing a game.
Considering many these kids are stuck in a bed all day, I think they'll have more than enough time to go through just about any RPG in a week or two.
I started playing RPGs at 5. I have fond memories of coming home from my half day at kindergarten, and playing Dragon Warrior.

The fact that the control scheme doesn't match the sword motions will probably help left handed people learn to play.
I agree that using the opposite hand would be much harder if you had to do the actual motions.
A few days ago in http://games.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/11/02/ 1715207this article Nintendo explained that you could get the cables in stores in UK.
I would expect that the same is true in North America.
He doesn't even know how to spell wiimote. It's pretty obvious.

Still in my top 5 RPG list, though.

This is why we should all stick to the standard yyyy-mm-dd format. As a Canadian, I never know which format is being used.
That is incredible! Thank you so much for pointing it out, I know of some specific uses I would have for those things.

that's funny,
Apart from it not being a laptop, you just described my linux box.
Precision of the interface is not needed for CAD.

I will keep buying CD's until you can download music at the same or better quality, with no DRM.
I corrected that sentence for you.
