He's had to be placed under permanent injunction. But remember, that Jacobsen has yet to collect his 100,000 (it has to be paid over 18 months). I wonder whether we (or anyone else for that matter) will remember about it after a few months and follow up. Or leave it to to Mr. Jacobsen who seems to a very persistent person.

    (2) This has been recognised in India long time and infact an India_iran_pakistan gas pipeline was in the offing till it was effectively killed by the US who then and now want to outsource nuc energy creation to India.

Or (according to Asimov in his novels and short stories), they could just take over the world government to avoid conflicts and mismanagement of resources.

But to get back to the real world. As far as IT is concerned, in all except pure programming shops, I thought that it was given that the programmers always field support issues till the system stabilises. It is certainly true in most manufacturing.

Home built means built by ISRO (Indian Space Research organisation) which was founded in 1950 or so (before the cold war "hotted up"). It is an Indian government organisation. But I don't know about the satellite really being home built. Lot of our (I am from India) space launches are based on "cryogenic" fuel vehicles which received a setback once USSR was disbanded.

FYI, it isn't about "Star wars" and any such use.

I believe that like the ESA (European Space Agency which launches from Kourou in French Guyana), ISRO plans to compete in the commercial launch space. They are already into co-operation for earth stations.

I expect that there are already American companies that outsource satellite launch to ESA and soon ISRO may join the list.

Of course the concerns are genuine.

It must be agreed that even though there might be a lot of persons earning good money doing COBOL, the numbers of such people are probably getting lesser and lesser.

Also, the way software is developed is probably changing. Nowadays there is more and more of factory type work where you have a programming pool who are given assignments. (Specs are written by business analysts working with team leads). Programmers don't see the picture, let alone the big picture and what is required is only to deliver functional output. This can be handled well by raw techies and so there is less value add for a "senior"s experience. This is because there is more package and solution buying (eg: WEB page, authoring tools etc) and less ciustom development.

The OP doesn't mention his profeciency or level. Given that, a lateral move to a smaller organisation may be just the thing to enable him to rise quickly. In this scenarion, he would have to have good project management skills.
