Because iPhone has an (app)store and because it is hugely popular. Also maybe there is no good comic sending app and/or existing comic apps which allow selling comic strips of random authors have unacceptable rules or demand too much margin? The easiest way is to just write application which will sell author's strips or which you buy once and you have access to all strips and author has some money.

I recommend Terry Pratchett's book 'Making Money'. One "quant" essentially created a glass model of economy which was so good, that he moved some money by manually moving liquids inside. It looks like our quants are beginning to have such influence on current economy.

Yes, but OBD standard only specifies some common elements, every car manufacturer now has extended proprietary commands along with standard one but you need to buy expensive licenses to obtain specs and use them in yur tool. This is main reason why those simple OBD plugs are so expensive, hardware costs about $20.

  16. Re:As an engineer... on Any Open Source Solutions For DIY Auto Diagnostics? · · Score: 2, Informative

Not really. It's the cost of licences. All auto manufacturers have their proprietary commands in cars. Only most common things are specified by OBDII spec and you have to pay about $2k per year for licence of one manufacturer to get their proprietary specifications and implement them in your OBD tool.

But just like with usb (it stands for Universal Serial Bus), you will still need several types of cables for various music players and cameras. Add to this all those LPUSB converters, LP hubs...

Some physicists "invented" a system where every voter gives each party a score, instead of just selecting his best party. This may be the most fair system, which is probably why it won't be ever implemented.
