    yes,nes got better graphics than coleco and Atari VCS,but it also got a lot more ram and rom space than atari,and as the PPU did basically all the video work,then you did not needed to waste 70% of your processor time doing the graphics,what allowed nes to have really superior games in all the aspects,not just graphically

    well,with linux pre installed on the machine,how sony will get her 20 million royalties per game? simply,she will block X from running on the machine using the OS SPE :3

    the PS3 will aways have a SPE reserved for the Sony OS,that uses the Cell protection to avoid you to hacking it,then if sony does something that detects and kill X on the sight,there will be no way to use it on PS3

    right now,there no much people ith HDTV,but in a near future,there will be probably a lot,thanks to the cheaper OLED process and etc.

    but on this day,how the broadband internet connection will be? according to the H.264 standards,you can stream 1080p movies in a 8 mbps connection.

    i live in a small city in brazil,and right now if i move a block away,i will be able to pay for connection of that kind for something like 40 dollars per month,and i'm talking about now,not 3-4 years when the Oled tvs come out,just imagine how it will be at that time.

    then if microsoft is smart,it will starts to sell streamed movies over the Live service,and just plunk down both HD DVD and BR in the process.

    this look to me more like a protection against lame lawyers than anything else

    the 1 stuff protects microsoft from the old "copy and modify a bit" evil tricks(mostly for sony) and the "pass to someone to do the above" too ,but also protects you when using the stuff to implement the format on your code

    the 2 stuff protect microsoft from any idiot implementing the stuff wrong just to wreck his own computer and suing microsoft later

    the 3 stuff is a extension of the 1,basically impeding the merging enterprises to do the same shit when merging

    the 4 stuff allows microsoft to freely implement your suggestions and make you obligated to give then to everyone else using the document

    the 5 stuff allows microsoft to tell anyone who did the suggestion about the modifications(this way allowing then to tell when CIA secretly implements a spybot on the specifications :3

    and finally the 6 stuff makes you need to go to washington to sue then if you found a way to go around the other 5 stuffs so they can shoot you when you arrive XD

    basically,there no evil "you will belong to us" stuff its just "okay,use as you will,even on your linux stuff,but do not try court shit on us"

    well,reading some rumors,and some stuff that was told and etc,for me,what happened is like this: IBM did the processor,and its ready :3,and its probably the last unrelased G3 with some heavy nintendo modifications to support game cube code and some new stuff like physics (just look at a truck collision on Excite truck,and tell me,a nintendo coder really can do that on a game cube or overclocked game cube?) but ATI on the other hand is Slow,thanks to the X-box 360 video as we all know,ati had all her vid chips slowed down by the 360 video chip,and i think that the nintendo one is on that slowed down list,so,this wii's on E3 probably are a frankenWiis,with a ready processor,and the original gamecube vid with some overclock on it but Why Wii vid needs to actually be ready,instead of just getting the X1300 of the shelf and etc? my guess is that nintendo instead of reliyng on heavy shader performance,just got a "ok it works" one,and did all the trendy stuff like normal map and sub surface with a dedicated hardware stuff,as dedicated hardware is a lotta smaller than shader execution units,and faster too o.o

    you really belive that sony really show realtime stuff on that killzone 2 video? really? ouch x.x just look at motorstorm of that same E3 and how it is on this E3,and you will see how probably killzone 2 is and er... the IA of the original killzone was worst than unreal tournament one x.x

    actually it helps just imagine that on each frame,the snes calls the vid interrupt that calls the code to the next frame,and then it calculates the physics,update the sprites,updates the scroll,sent some command to SPC700 to play a SFX,gets the controller input and stuff then goes idle,waiting for the next interrupt then we have it doing this 60 times per second right? not in all cases, you see,in 60 frames per second we have 16 ms to do all the stuff above and if you code takes more than that (and assuming that you disabled the vid interrupt,otherwise this will going to be REALLY screwy XD) well if you did take more than 16 ms to do the stuff (even 17 ms XD), then your code will idle and wait for the next frame,because you just lose this one :3,after all,you cant just go and refresh the scroll value mid frame,this will make the image do some screwy stuff :3 and if this "ops i lose a frame" pattern keeps repeating,your game will be running at 30 fps now,not 60 :3 and there a LOT of games of snes that do lose frames sometimes and do that slowdown times,and they WILL not lose the frame if the processor be fast enough to run their cloggy code faster
