Sure, it's not the library, but I don't have to purchase anything from Amazon.com if I don't want to. Mr. Bezos may believe that he can make more money by kowtowing to special interests, but he won't get another cent from me if he unreasonably censors Amazon.com's products.
I used to purchase items from Amazon.com because of the breadth of material available in one "store". Knowing that they are intentionally censoring products makes me really want to support the smaller stores.
Seems odd that the US space agency needs a "modernization program". Obviously, it should be called something else since NASA still plans on using Russia's own antiquated hardware to keep the ISS going. Anyhow, I don't understand why we should be so happy that NASA is funding a program that it's not planning on using---regardless of where the funding is coming from. Well, it's only money. After all, it's not like they are taking your money, out of your wallet.
Well, this speaks volumes about Steve Jobs' reading habits. Obviously, he just looks at the pictures and only "reads" titles from the larger publishing houses (like the Oprah book club).
Earth (like any celestial body) is surrounded by "outer space". Earth formed in "outer space". Everything on Earth came from "outer space". So, yes, one way or another, all water on Earth came from "outer space". The question is really when, how, and from where did the water come from!
The real problem is not on the "negotiating with terrorists" end, it's the other end (the ass end?) that makes problems for everyone by suggesting knee-jerk solutions to the wrong problems.
I forgot to mention that Bruce Schneier's blog entry on the value of terror can be summed up as follows: taking pot shots at someone is cheap and easy. This is hardly news.
Let's face it, I don't know if the Terrorists have "won", but we have surely lost. Terrorists have changed our lives, robbed us of many of our guaranteed rights and freedoms (in the US this has occurred with the aid of our government), and we are paying for it every day (and not just with dollars).
How many times does Steve Jobs or Apple have to do something like this before people realize that Steve Jobs is EVIL. He makes Bill Gates look like little miss goody two shoes. He's not Big Brother, yet. Let's just call him "Skinny Brother".
Unfortunately, the US Government thinks the Constitution is just wasted toilet paper. In the grand scheme of things, compared to the Guantanamo Bay detention facility, the TSA, and other jack booted trampling on civil rights, taking down a website is small potatoes.
Sure. Passengers may be scanned and groped, but what how are the complete rail systems, roadways, etc., going to be secured? Is the Federal Government going to enclose all of the railways, roadways, shipping channels?
Also, did the Feds forget that the toner bombs were not brought on board the airplanes by passengers?
Honestly, there are may other ways to destroy planes, trains, and automobiles that do not require you to be on board.
Patrick Leahy and the rest of Congress are a bunch of sewer rats, so this legislation should be called CLOACA (Congress Likes Obstructing Anything it Can Attack).
The real story is that the Soviets had clip art collections that made their job easier. This was years before clip-art was widely used in the West. People doctoring photos could choose from the "Still Popular Heroes of the Bolshevik Revolution" as well as "Accepted Images of our Beloved Leaders: Lenin through Gorbachev". What was little known at the time is that if you bought both sets, you would also get a free set "Communist Leaders of the world". This set had flattering pictures of Chaiman Mao, Fidel Castro, and Che Guevera.
US law is already subordinate to other foreign laws (ever see the Lacey Act Amendments of 1981?). So, why shouldn't the US just kowtow to the UK, or any other government? What I want to know is: when is the Constitution brand toilet paper coming on the market?

Not much to discuss, so I will make a trip to the local bookstore.

Slartibartfast needs to fix this. This is what happens when you use untested software.

This is so stupid, I just don't know where to begin.
I guess it's true what they say about military intelligence.
I know, it's just a C&D order, but the posting suggested otherwise.
The ancient Romans and Greeks debated policing the police many years ago. I guess we just forget from time to time how important this is.

You can sue anyone for anything. Winning a lawsuit is a whole other matter.

What about regular SLR cameras? Why ban D(igital)SLR cameras?

So, that's "Developers" 14 times in a single tweet.

...in Soviet Union, picture edits you...
OK, so the Soviets could by western hardware (Pericolor drum scanner and an Apple ///). Big deal.
NASA should just buy truckloads of Viagra. It will help them get it up.
If the UK doesn't want it, they can put up a firewall. Like China.
