They have a Wii at the local EB Games on display. My friend and I saw some kids playing it, and it had whatever that racing game is. When we got to try it, it was instant fun. The controller is the coolest thing about it. Theres just so much potential, and its so intuitive.
Microsoft's world domination issues aside, this is pretty damn cool. It'll be even better if they can manage to get the whole country. They're going to need a lot of vans to cover suburbs and things too. Although I'll bet they'll stick to big cities.
Although Internet Explorer is a piece of crap, I can understand why its nearly impossible to remove.
If it could be removed, how many people do you think would accidently delete it, and cut themselves off from the internet. What then? They can't download a new browser.
Or, what if a computer was infected with a trojan which uninstalled IE? Try finding a fix when you can't get online.
If the SciFi channel has taught me anything, its that there are absolutely no reprucissions of building intelligent machines and then sending them to war.
Just put a freaking red scanning eye on it already.
AOL is competing with Google and Yahoo? I guess in the sense that a one-legged horse with rabies is competing in the Kentucky Derbie, that might be accurate... if the horse is also dead.
Does anyone know if us local nerds can contact these companies and their recycling centers, and offer to take that old hardware off their hands? I mean, even if there was a small fee, thats a whole lot of goodies going to waste.
Google really needs to get all their stuff working with Opera. We may not be a giant part of the market, but we're still here. Gmail works well enough, and this works okay with the browser check workaround, but such a great company really should go the extra mile to support Opera.
Some of us like the big beige box. My current PC was a gift, so its got a sexy case, but my old PC was in a gray box. Or, rather, it had the frame of a gray box. I like leaving my computer open. It helps with ventilation, and I like the cyberpunk look of exposed electronics.
I get to be the smug Opera user. I loves me my Opera. Its like a nicely configured install of Firefox with all of those neat plugins, except it does it right out of the box.
He'd be here commenting on this story. The fact that I haven't seen this guy comment on a story about himself on Slashdot makes me wonder just how tech savvy he really is.
Did they just shutdown the eDonkey client, or did that take down the network too? Isn't eDonkey partially centralized?
Either way, long live the gnutella network!
Wouldn't it make more sense for Microsoft to make what people are speculating the "true" video iPod will be? I mean, if I were Microsoft, I'd be making a media player with a similar form factor thats entire face is a touch screen. Maybe a little larger than an ipod to accomodate a larger battery.
I know that the patching after you're infected may not do you much good, except to prevent reinfection after you clean your system, but why don't viruses and worms start doing things like pretending to be a firewall and blocking sites like microsoft.com, or monitor what you search for and prevent you from searching for its own name?
You can say that evil old Microsoft is stealing from the great and wonderful Apple, but don't forget that all these shiny graphics come from Apple stealing from Xerox.
Yeah, from what I've seen, wireless technology is GREAT.
In fact, I get to see how great it is everytime I go to a lan party. Either someone's wireless mouse dies and we have to look for either batteries or a wired one, or someone drops out of a game of Warcraft because their wireless ethernet connection just crapped out.
Now, for things like ethernet, I can maybe see the benifit of wireless. But mouse and keyboard? They aren't going anywhere. They're going to be sitting in front of my monitors and next to my computer. I have a desk. Those cables go through a hole and sit next to the wall. This is not a problem.
Because its fun.

That Big Rigs game with no collision detection and such? And where is Daikatana?!
It is indeed the fault of Jobs. Damn him and his sleek white machines and charm!

Tor. That is all.

Quickly! TO THE VAULTS!
Some good Vaporware!

Yeah, but people in Iran still chant "Death to America" on a regular basis.
Mmmm, yeah... I'm not in the habit of taking technology worth thousands and SHITTING IN IT.
I'm all for curing depression, but I still have to be wary of genetic engineering that makes you incapable of being unhappy...
Wouldn't this be a good solution to a lot of the problems currently faced with active camouflage?

So... 37 years ago we could go to the moon with slide rules and 64 k of RAM... but today its really hard? WTF?
