-Lower Temps. -Lower Noise. -Lower power users, hence longer battery life. -Lighter. -Faster bootup. If you are paying 60 USD/hour or 1 USD/min, and saving 1 min every reboot or startup. You will make up the difference in 1 year or so.
I think the next software patent would be on the lines of:
A method for developing a computer program product, the method comprising: Inputing characters and symbols with the help of an input device after processing the semantics and possible meaning mentally beforehand.
You would have to look at what people throw away, in poorer countries people tend not to throw away reusable items like plastic bags and glass containers. And also less food is thrown away.
You are missing a big point. If they add this tech, then their saws will useless in damp, highly humid, or RF polluted environments. Do you think the guy who has an el-cheapo model or even a contractor with a top of the line model will be happy replacing a saw every time something wet hit the blade or some static builds up.... From the explanation I would assume that this would be triggered by a drop of sweat or a sneeze or RF polution.
The manufacturers are not adding this tech because they want their saws to be dangerous, they are not adding this because it would cripple their saws.
As most people said, a person should know that the a freaking blade and especially a blade spinning as fast as a table saw blade is dangerous and is not a toy.
Also timing does not work all that well with USB/BT serial ports.
Serial ports are a simple and easy way to move data to an embedded system and they can run of very low power systems (unlike USB).
They designed SLI:

It is much easier to manage 1 device than to have:
1. Modem.
2. router.
3. Switch.
4. AP.
5. Network Print Server.
Less material needed to produce a sturdier structure.
"....fair", As in using an F-16 vs. an RPG dude on a mule. War is never played fair. And it is not a game to be played.
You my friend do not have any relatives that need to be connected to The Internet.
With Ubuntu, most issues can be resolved via ssh.... And I have not had any issues at all.
Skype, works.
Firefox and Opera, work.
Flash, works.
Viruses and Malware, does not work.
I agree...
Or it stuck because it made your food/predator easier to spot.
But they sure did help you get there.
It is more of comparing Tape with a USB flash disk.... Tested vs. Easy to Use. Guess which one is used for critical backups.
So now instead of just editing one file and running one command, you have to go through multiple commands and and still not get a sane setup......
I can see that you met Murphy....
SSD's are cheap.
1. mount / on SSD. In most cases you would not need more than 5GB /home on HDD.
2. mount
problem solved.
I know a location in Lviv Ukraine with pre-WWII wiring which gets 24/1 ADSL2+, granted is under 1KM from the exchange.
I get full ADSL2+ goodness with my 60 or 70's wiring.
I cannot understand how "Palo Alto, California. Silicon Valley, USA." does not have a better connection...
Also the building I am living in is covered by 3 other ISP's that provide Cable Internet via fiber.
Not as easy as you think.
1. Make sure you copy the HDD with something like DD so that you have multiple copies.
2. Use google: http://www.google.com/search?client=opera&rls=en&hl=en&q=convert+xp+to+vm&sourceid=opera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8
Note, there is a good chance that it might not work 100%... but worth a try.
*Lower power usage*

So now there is a loophole for the believers....
And a good business idea for the smart..
Start selling Supper Magnet Tin Foil Hats, which will insure that the Soul (TM) would stay clean while the wearer can screw the world...

It is a "Raid of Really Big Rounded Optical Things for Seeing Further".
Compared to a car your body parts are a tad more difficult to replace.
What do tits have to do with this?
PS: A-SCIISKI, sounds a lot like "What about the tits?".
