This article completely ignores the big elephant in the room. Why was this information on a server hosted on the Internet? Shouldn't information like this be separated on a separate subnet? It talks about Intrusion detection systems and all sorts of technology to mitigate the risk, but the answer is simple. If your business data is isolated completely from your public facing presence, you need an insider or a physical break-in to be at risk.
I'll continue to use my google account for chatting with people for now, but if they pull the plug on 3rd party clients such as bitlbee, I'm done with google. I'll either setup my own jabber server running XMPP, or just switch back completely to IRC.
I've used the php web calendar from k5n.us for a number of clients and for personal usage as well. It's nice because it has very nice print friendly pages for printing your calendar, multi-user support, group support, public access calendar, rss feeds, and webdav support for keeping in sync with sunbird or icalendar.

Now, now Johnny, just sit down and watch Desperate Housewives with mommy... But, but, but... I want to watch the Sesame Street DVD grandpa gave me for Christmas! No, no, Johnny, that isn't appropriate for kids your age. You might pick up bad habits, now be a good boy and help your mommy by watching Desperate Housewives...
It makes me sick...

We are called to serve with humility, not arrogance. By coming on a public board and making a rant about not helping the homeless, you only hurt yourself. Be humble, and serve those that need your service. It isn't your position to attack others for not being as much of a humanitarian as you. If you brag about your own works they will burn as straw, but if you humbly serve wanting nothing in return they will be eternal.
Okay, we have Second Life & WoW Terrorists, Smarter teens have less sex, Mouse or Trackball, No Demand for Linux in UK and now a dvorak article on Web 20 bubble about to blow. Is it just me, or does it feel like this is the tabloids at the grocery store and not slashdot...

Lets look at the facts of damage: 1. No data was damaged 2. No data was taken 3. The user chose to download what they thought was a game 4. It prevented the user from logging into the machine
I don't see any permanent damage here. This isn't a crime in the least. I never said THE PARENTS shouldn't make little Johnny do community service for stealing the candy bar. I just said the punishment doesn't fit the crime to chop off his hands and then ask him to write he won't steal candy bars.
My bullshit about using Linux is more accurate than your perception of it. 90% of home computer users need a word processor, a web browser, and possibly an e-mail client, and that's it. There is no expensive support with Linux. Last time I tried Ubuntu, I booted up, logged in, and clicked the little firefox logo on the top bar. Want to install something, add and remove programs and install it. Heck, my sister uses Linux and she's about as far from techy as you can get. Maybe you should try the latest linux distros before blabbing your mouth.
Okay, and next time little Johnny grabs a candy bar off the shelf and eats it in a store, lets cut off both his hands and make him write I will not steal candy bars... People's definition of harm is so whacked these days... If you computer dies, who cares, there is more to life than the computer... If you can't afford to get the thing fixed, you should be using linux like most sane people that can't afford to fix their computer every time a teenager decides to pull a prank on all the windows users.
It's a kid and a prank. If any punishment happens it should be at the discretion of the child's parents. No real harm was done. It's not like this non-virus stole millions of peoples credit card informations and committed credit card fraud. Let kids be kids, they can grow up tomorrow.
Really? all apps usually seem to be in/usr/bin if their installed with the distro's package manager. Sometimes games are thrown into/usr/games/bin, but other than that, all regular apps go into/usr/bin. Now, if you're referring to the menu layout, yeah that can get kinda weird between distro's or even wm's and dm's within the same distro, but that doesn't change the fact if I open a terminal, all those apps are still in my path unless I royally screw up my bashrc/cshrc.
Yes, is this the US government? Yes, I got word that Bat_Masterson is planning to blow up the whitehouse. I think you should go arrest him and give me $5000 for reporting this incident before he could wreak havoc. What he's an upstanding citizen? No that's just a front he's pulling he really is a terrorist and needs to be dealt with. Okay, I'll get the check in the mail next week, sounds good to me. Glad to do my part in averting terrorism.
Sorry Bat, I know you weren't planning that, but I really need the $5000...
Solution: Everyone use LaTeX and the world will be a much happier place;-)
Seriously, after doing my CSE and math homework in LaTeX last year, you'd have to be a complete idiot to use a graphical word processor for anything more than "Basic" usage.
This is capitalism, the more venues the better. Probably the most obvious answer to this is Intel didn't like what it saw in the other projects, had an idea of what they wanted, and ran with it.
I've been accused of not being able to interpret sarcasm in the past, so I think I'm going to take this as being sarcasm. If it's not, man you must be a very insightful guy. Hey I got some property in a very nice part of the Atlantic Ocean for sale, are you interested?
Don't forget the Intel chipset. Those work great out of the box. I'm not sure if they've come out with any pci cards, but their internal wireless works like a charm.

If linux does contain code MS has patented, then MS distributes said code under GPL v3 license, MS is unable to sue ANYONE, not just SuSE customers indemnified already for that patented code. We have no proof there are any patents being infringed in linux, but MS claims we do infringe, so as soon as this code is released by SuSE and someone cashes in with one of these coupons, MS is bound by GPLv3 for the distribution of this software and they lose their right to sue because of it.

opengroupware has a plugin for working with outlook. I haven't used that one in a while though.

Or St. Seraphim of Sarov. I'm reading the life and teaching St. Seraphim right now. He is absolutely amazing! Sam
actually it's easier: sudo passwd. Sam

This reads like an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting:
Step 1: Get everyone to admit the project has a problem
Step 2: Figure out what that problem everyone admits is wrong really is
etc...
