Are you assuming they will try to grow something in pure ammonia? And to illustrate you point in a relevant way I would like you to take a look at this bottle of medical oxygen, people do breathe it and it does indeed help them, when used to supplement air. Simply put, you are neglecting the fact that the ammonia will be dispersed in the water so that it will indeed be able to create a healthy algae bloom. Or, as the GP pointed out, it may be sold to farmers to be pumped into the soil to fertilize crops which is currently a common practice. (side note: the overuse of ammonia in a crop can lead to polluting runoff)

That takes the MMO out of MMO, and leaves you with a single player or cooperative game that is not an MMO. When you do that, you get a coop game with a 3d lounge. Guild Wars does that. It gets really boring after a short while for players like myself that like a dynamic and social game.

Granted many people wanted to be a jedi, but doesn't everyone want to be a level 60 character in WoW? I agree that they should have picked a better time period if they wanted to stay cannon with lots of jedis. What you need to realize is that some people don't play Star Wars games just to be jedis. If they stuck to lore, then people didn't like the game. That is not true. People did like the game. Then SOE changed it and lost a very large portion of its player base. As far as I know, it is the only game that has an active community (http://www.swgemu.com/) attempting to change it back to its original state, not because they just want to run and control their own servers, but because the original version was significantly better than its current version.

The circuitry (ballast) and plastic case also cost more to make than the filament, both in terms of money and energy. Are you sure that the overall energy consumption from production through the full lifetime is going to be lesser for CFLs?
My guess is that is the reason they cost more initially, so the consumer pays those production costs upfront. If the bulb ends up saving the consumer money by conserving power, that would indicate that the buld is indeed cheaper ($ and environment - mercury is not the only polutant involved here) to produce+operate.

That is not hard to obtain in America. Move out of the urban areas to 'smalltown, midwest'. Ok, you only make 35k a year instead of 45k, but you only work, 40-50 hours a week. Food costs less, and if you settle for an older (>20 years old) house you can live VERY comfortably. I think the problem arises when the 'Starbucks generation' (not that you are, but those people make the same complaints) finds it unacceptable to make 10k less a year and can't find a Panera and Starbucks on every city block, even when it costs >15k less to live there.
