Really? The Mozilla bug for a Javascript whitelist is about ten years old now and still unfixed. Why the hell do I need a half-megabyte extension full of extraneous baggage I don't need for such a basic feature?
4KB is the minimum size of a memory page under x86. So yes this is a good thing, because things like disk caching will no longer need to care about fractions of pages being filled.
And if you're worrying about running out of space for 1KB files on a hard disk that has 250 billion 4K sectors then you've got bigger problems.
Blame Microsoft for setting the standard at 96dpi MS Sans Serif fixed-layout dialogs in Windows 3. Valve are only doing their part to look like a native windows app.
In all seriousness though, I think the only possible outcome is that YT will have to go along with this and manually screen every video that anyone inside Italy attempts to view.
Then they can put a nice big message on the access-denied pages millions of Italians will see, telling them precisely why they have to wait for manual approval for every single video they want to watch, and exactly who is responsible for forcing this change on them.
One of the major problems is that ZFS was designed as a huge blob of interdependent code, or in other words the complete opposite of the layered Linux VFS design. Even if they hadn't intentionally gone with an incompatible license it would still be a nightmare to port into the kernel, and that's effort that could be spent doing far more productive things (Btrfs, Tux3, Reiser4 etc.)
Automatically notify the Italian government of every single public video uploaded to Youtube, and offer them a 5 minute delay before it becomes viewable inside Italy in which time they can reject it.
They'll be begging for it to stop after half an hour.
Actually it's more like "all the enemies in the direction you were facing when you fired it from the position you're standing when it hits".
The trick there is you can fire it down a long corridor in one direction, run off the opposite way so someone gives chase, and when it hits the wall the guy behind you gets blown to bits. Similarly you can survive it completely unhurt by getting on the opposite side of whoever fired it - as long as you know which way they fired.
You can block stories by slashdot editor name, you know. The only drawback to blocking ads that way is that CowboyNeal doesn't post articles to the front page all that often.
Oh, it's self-jest alright. They're just laughing at a different joke than everyone else there. Laughing all the way to the bank.
You're complaining about Chrome having an inconsistent UI? On a Microsoft OS?

Even Internet-fucking-Explorer FOUR can do this.
It can be done.
Why wait a few years to throw money down the drain? Someone could simply start DDoSing the server on launch day.
I don't buy music CDs any more for the same reason.

My phone survived the iPhone - it still works just as well as it did when I bought it 4 years ago and I still don't need a new one.
They've been around since before Longhorn even had a name.
I noticed some pretty visible lag in that video between the top left and the rest of the screens. Is that going to be fixed?

Wait until Microsoft starts doing this to go after copyright violations. Will y'all be cheering then?
I've been waiting for them to start cracking down on warez kiddiez running pirated Windows for a loooooong time.
Those people are half the reason botnets like this spread like wildfire in the first place.

When you've used Linux long enough, they both look bad. But Windows' blurry rainbow-frilled text is definitely worse.
Um, did you even try looking?

Linux never uses a bit of VM unless you need it.
Actually it does. But they're fixing that too.

Not really something you can build in real life.

Good news for owners of the other consoles.
Your point is that people who act like assholes tend to get completely shunned for being assholes even if they had something worthwhile to say?
Point made.
Not even Fox News deserves to be insulted like that.
Yeah, it seems odd anyone would dump a full Ubuntu on this thing when Xubuntu or the like would be a much better fit.
You should give wicd a try as an alternative to NM; 99% of the time it Just Works. Oh and it tells you the encryption type too.
