Forget the post being sensationalist, what about the legal system? What kind of legal system (or university or whoever is bringing the prosecution) pushes for 40 years for this kind of thing? Clearly not one that expects to do any public good...
Don't worry, the whole point is that I wasn't *on* your lawn (otherwise I would have known about these cultural icons). In fact I'm the other side of the duckpond...
From T second FA:
The centre is fitted with state-of-the-art security and has undergone an array of checks to allow it to process data up to government level. If they're up to UK Government data security level I wouldn't trust them with anything
I'm guessing that's Economics? No, we tend to abbreviate rather than shorten subject names. PE (physical education), RS (religious studies) and DT (design technology).
The only way to solve this kind of problem is to make the decision makers accountable to the people who employ them (the public). If this made headline news (and possibly some rent-a-celebrities got onboard) this kind of thing wouldn't happen.
They shouldn't have just broken it. I would have pointed it toward a server that disrupted 5% of connections at random, rising 1% each day. Would have been more fun to see how long it took them to notice...
TBH I got it because I wanted a new keyboard and I wanted a good one. I bought it because of the blankness (obviously) but I wouldn't have considered it unless it had very nice action.
Which it does. If you can touch-type, no braille necessary. It's really not at all difficult. But for some reason I can't get the numbers into my head. Which makes programming tricky (C++ is hungry for !%&*()- etc).
I have to disagree. I have a black Das Keyboard (you know, the one without markings). The numeric keyboard is a life-saver (somehow it's just not possible to touch-type the numbers above the keyboard)...
People go with what feels good. Efficiency feels good because it gives us the feeling of having achieved something in little time. Good design feels good because it gives us the feeling of having achieved something without raising our blood pressure.
Coverflow gives us a good feeling because... have you tried it? It's great!
Everything comes down to feelings. We're animals after all. And to dismiss one imperative over another is to deny that.
600? In facebook-land that's a relatively small group...
There's your answer! The fruit of your speed trade-off!
Won't that slow things down quite a lot?

I reckon there's a difference between a title and a position. Yes, 'professor' is a title, but it's a professional one. 'Sir' isn't.

what are bleachers?
Of course they were. Why needlessly jeopardise the American business contracts with the Nazis?
Any company that not only gets Unix[like] onto the desktop of NORMAL people, but also makes it look cool matters.

We have maths. MATHS. There's an s.

I can go into my local Tesco (our Wal Mart) and buy an EOL real DVD for £3.

2034? That's quite some job security you got there.
How many standards do we need? The ISO should wade in and sort this out ... no wait.
If this were DreamHost there would be a few flippant words in the official statement but pages and pages of photos...

Sorry to play devil's advocate, but I'm fairly sure there are escrow arrangements over this kind of thing.

At last! An *accurate* 1984 comparison...
the colonial era never died. It just crossed the duckpond
