The person who wrote the parent is obviously a prude. Do it. Do you really think someone's going to come in after the fact and go 'yes, this developer here, its all his fault. He conceived and created the whole thing'? Get a grip on reality, thats why your company has a legal department. Thats why you HAVE a boss. It isn't your place to second guess every decision that is made. Do your job. Don't ask questions. If you don't like the work you're being asked to do, quit. End of story.

I agree with troll. People are responsible for making their own decisions. If they are too stupid to make informed purchasing decisions, like buying a computer that comes with a restore cd, then they don't need to be buying computers. IMHO the consumer should be responsible for protecting themselves. I wouldn't buy a car without consulting a car expert, likewise people purchasing computers should consult a knowledgeable computer expert.

  10. Politics and Evolution on Putting Anti-Evolution Candidates On the Spot · · Score: 0

Unfortunately, it will probably not be a hot ticket item for any candidate to spill the beans on their beliefs one way or the other. Politically, it would be suicide for any candidate to do anything else than skirt the issue. Like it or not there are a lot of people in this country who believe in Creationism or at the very least have some kind of nebulous view of the world as created by a diety. This means that if a politician, especially a Republican, were to say "I think Evolution is the truth", they would probably alienate a good sized chunk of their voting base. A Democrat would probably fare better, however even a good portion of Democratic voters believe in some sort of creation.

Disclaimer: I think creation is stupid.

Am I an idiot for thinking this guy is just a bit too much of a goody two-shoes? You're worried about installing copied software? I'm guessing that you don't have much pirated software at your house. What are you worried about in terms of getting in trouble? Are you worried about just getting fired? Or maybe even some litigation? I don't really know what the problem is, if they're that bad just quit. Otherwise suck it up and install the damn software. Jeez, I've used more pirated copies of office than I can shake a stick at. If your worried about cracking under the painful whip of the BSA inquisitor, just remember, there is always plausible deniability. Maybe you thought the corporate licensing plan covered multiple installs. Maybe the same key got written down multiple times instead of the correct one. The point is that there are about 10 million possible excuses you could make none of which involve your incarceration or a lawsuit. Install the software and get over it. You won't get thrown in jail, nor is anyone going to point the finger at you, nor will you lose your job. Unless of course you can't handle the stress on your concience of knowing that you did a possibly immoral thing and that you'll burn for all eternity in the blazing hot fires of hell.
