The person who wrote the parent is obviously a prude. Do it. Do you really think someone's going to come in after the fact and go 'yes, this developer here, its all his fault. He conceived and created the whole thing'? Get a grip on reality, thats why your company has a legal department. Thats why you HAVE a boss. It isn't your place to second guess every decision that is made. Do your job. Don't ask questions. If you don't like the work you're being asked to do, quit. End of story.
I agree with troll. People are responsible for making their own decisions. If they are too stupid to make informed purchasing decisions, like buying a computer that comes with a restore cd, then they don't need to be buying computers. IMHO the consumer should be responsible for protecting themselves. I wouldn't buy a car without consulting a car expert, likewise people purchasing computers should consult a knowledgeable computer expert.
Your state is running a high budget surplus, almost none of which was used to pay for infrastructure. You don't need new taxes, you need smarter congressmen/senators.
Unfortunately, it will probably not be a hot ticket item for any candidate to spill the beans on their beliefs one way or the other. Politically, it would be suicide for any candidate to do anything else than skirt the issue. Like it or not there are a lot of people in this country who believe in Creationism or at the very least have some kind of nebulous view of the world as created by a diety. This means that if a politician, especially a Republican, were to say "I think Evolution is the truth", they would probably alienate a good sized chunk of their voting base. A Democrat would probably fare better, however even a good portion of Democratic voters believe in some sort of creation.
How in the heck did the parent get modded 'Insightful'. You're saying the Bush is killing Iraqis to keep oil prices high? WTF benefit would that have? Making the American public pissed at him because their gas prices are so high? Good political move there ace!
Sorry, I could give a crap about global warming. I really just don't care about the environment, what I'm doing to it, or even Al Gore's electricity usage. I'm sure we'll adapt to whatever happens and I'm just as sure this will get modded down to flamebait.
I personally think this woman is quite the idiot for posting forged IDs on her site. I hope her blog gets axed by the Gov via the DCMA. Serves her right.
I work for a nationwide VOIP company that is in direct competition with AT&T. We just secured the largest law firm in the country as a customer, beating out AT&T. Perhaps this is the reason they stopped doing voip?
Am I an idiot for thinking this guy is just a bit too much of a goody two-shoes? You're worried about installing copied software?
I'm guessing that you don't have much pirated software at your house.
What are you worried about in terms of getting in trouble? Are you worried about just getting fired? Or maybe even some litigation?
I don't really know what the problem is, if they're that bad just quit. Otherwise suck it up and install the damn software. Jeez, I've used more pirated copies of office than I can shake a stick at.
If your worried about cracking under the painful whip of the BSA inquisitor, just remember, there is always plausible deniability. Maybe you thought the corporate licensing plan covered multiple installs. Maybe the same key got written down multiple times instead of the correct one. The point is that there are about 10 million possible excuses you could make none of which involve your incarceration or a lawsuit. Install the software and get over it. You won't get thrown in jail, nor is anyone going to point the finger at you, nor will you lose your job. Unless of course you can't handle the stress on your concience of knowing that you did a possibly immoral thing and that you'll burn for all eternity in the blazing hot fires of hell.
In the company I work for at least, Management is always in the trenches right along with those of us who are on call. I've been on many a conference call at 3am with my boss, his boss, and sometimes even the their collective boss. As for why women are leaving these type of jobs, I think a lot of women are fleeing jobs like these because it is very, very stressful for the unprepared.
So Microsoft designs for intelligent users who care about their OS, while Apple designs for people who use their computer as a mono/ semi-multi purpose tool and don't care (for the most part) about advanced functions / OS information. I, for one, prefer to be included in the information stream from the OS because I don't trust it to know what's best for me.
I agree 100%. However, I think we should leave them turned off. Just think about the amount of email generated by automated systems in response to this spam. Bounced Messages, auto-remove responses, etc. I wonder what the net result would be at the end? Maybe letting spam get to the destination would result in overall less email.
I haven't met many people 'just out of college' who were very bright and knowledgable. Alot (at least in computer fields) seem to have strange beliefs on how to get things done.

Yes, it is. Just because you didn't know about it doesn't mean it didn't happen.
Just because you think you're smart, doesn't mean you're actually smart. I know it's a shock, but true.
Who cares. If someone's paying you to do a job, do it. Plus non-compete agreements aren't worth the paper they're printed on.
You're a pinko. And you need to get rid of your father issues. It sounds like you need to see a psychiatrist.
Seems to me the bill passed... am I reading this wrong?

Does this mean that Chris Dodd is an impotent fool?

Double agreed. Maybe we can get a chain of flamebait mods going on?

Disclaimer: I think creation is stupid.

If the internet gods had intended us to not to encapsulate our packets, then we wouldn't have GRE/PPTP/IPSEC..
Here Here! :)

I actually got in a wreck once for following too close. And you know what? I still do it. Deal with it.
Not true, I propose that as long as the employer is aware of the risks such behaviour is okay.

I want your job. ... ... ...
has 30 seconds passed yet?

Let's hope not for my sake :D
