Wow they make it THAT horrible even after you opt out? I've said it hundreds of times. PDFs are garbage and should never be used in any situation. Its like a picture file that requires a 80MB ap to open, uses about that much ram while running and introduces dozens of security holes. Plus they don't natively open in your browser and they are larger that picture files. If you have ever purposefully inflicted PDFs on others I wish you a long walk off a short pier.
Heh I said English to discount the AFP, i'm well aware of them. That they are funded by a government may or may not be a good thing. Though it doesn't matter if it is, a lot of people will see it as a bad thing. Still AFP, reuters and AP isn't exactly a huge variety.
True, I do read Al Jazeera on occasion. They get international coverage and have an English side BUT Al Jazeera does NOT have world-wide foreign journalists. They have reporters in the middle east and that is very valuable. But they don't really have a whole lot of investigative journalists outside of the ME. South American or European news is unsurprisingly missing. It brings up another sad point. The recent Israeli incursion into Gaza where Israel did not allow journalists to enter. Reuters had 1 reporter and Al Jazeera had a handful inside. They were the ONLY journalists attached to international papers that were in the country at the time. How can a WHOLE country under fire get only 1 internationally accepted journalist. With a kill ratio of over 100:1 you think it would be newsworthy enough to deserve more than one journalist. (I realize Israel wasn't allowing journalists but investigative journalists are SUPPOSED to break those rules to get to the truth.)
Pish, literally is a fairly commonly used and accepted hyperbole. If you really want to nitpick then 'literally' comes from literal as in literature.... It originally meant 'word for word'. And since i wasn't talking about copying anything down it doesn't matter if it is alive or dead since I'm already so far away from the original meaning. Language is a living thing. Get over it.
I think if stories had to cite their sources in huge bold font it would help. Even FOX viewers would be a little suspicious if every story started with "TAKEN FROM ASSOCIATED PRESS". So FOX might be forced to do their own research. And in doing so some occasional truth might slip through. Maybe some fox reporters will get blown up by the us army in Iraq. Even if their fans don't want to hear man bites dog. It would be hard to justify not reporting. (I know i'm setting the bar pitifully low)
AP is one of the 3 or so papers on the planet that does investigative journalism internationally. Don't compare it to the papers that just reuse other people's news. It IS expensive but they still do it. Most people can't tell the difference between news that was taken from the source or crap wire rewrites. It would be depressing if AP died, without them a lot of news stations don't have a source for their crappy wire stories and we don't have a hope in hell at getting to the real story.
This leaves Reuters the only free international newspaper in English. By that I mean a real newspaper with actual foreign correspondents and journalists. How terrifying is the thought that news could be turned 100% into opinion piece blathering with no actual research. As of last june CBS had 0 people in Iraq, FOX and CNN have 2. No American television network has a full-time correspondent in Afghanistan. Reuters has 100people in Iraq (inc staff). I'm sure AP has a similar number.
If AP and Reuters go this way news is literally dead.
Seriously, all hardware will eventually die, unless it joins the Q continuum or part vampire, demon or god... Really the summary should be. Mac user is retarded and doesn't backup. But then that would be redundant given that hes running a server on macs...
I for some reason doubt you hung out near ghettos in mainland china near the factories... Probably went to hongkong or something. These two places can pretty much be regarded as different planets.
supernova wasn't a tracker, TPB is the biggest tracker. Slight difference there. If TPB goes down, alot of the trackers will have to fill in the gap and its a pretty big burden, some trackers could get crushed. I think what will happen is a index like isohunt will take control completely. Then all trackers will be small but there will be thousands of them. In this way the riaa can play whack-a-mole with the trackers as much as they want to no avail. And the index are innocent or atleast fairly easily replaceable. And we won't see a repeat.
i had 103:1 on a cbb soundtrack torrent once. I was only keeping it there as a record after a certain amount. Server seriously crashed later so i had to redl everything and my total ratio is like.6 from the 6:1 i had before. I should really backup my azureus files to keep ratios. I feel like such a leech
child labour is LOVED by people in poor countries. They figure, I know its horrible our 8yr old has to work but it sure beats being dead. Plus, making next to no money is a step towards making money. Making no money leaves a country mired in starvation for decades. You need money and a system to support children. If you don't have that they need the labour. If we had laisse faire economics then this wouldnt be an issue. Currently laws are written to screw poor countries. If they had the chance they could make things at 1% what we do and it would destroy half our businesses. Oh but it would instantly solve the problems in the poor countries and allow them to support their children without making them work. We just aren't ready to do that.
Also, some anti-discrimination laws like quotas are bad and they are just reverse-discrimination which doesn't help anyone.
This is AMAZING news for Google. Why use MS office? You cant open two aps. Just open firefox and winamp. Do all your docs and research through google. Winamp or last.fm for music and you are good. Really I don't need windows, just a shell that can run FF. Though really this is all pointless since its hearsay over a product i'll never see so w/e
So the net splitting into chucks caused by bureaucracy and country lines is better than greed how? The end result is the same. Why bother sending anything to Africa? They don't have the money to pay for stuff. Man those north koreans are jerks lets not send them their search results. The eu has so many rules and british tv show plus they keep allowing people to fileshare. Why should we let them get tv while the pirate bay still exists?
The world being unified was the best thing about the internet. It was an amazing force for good. People making friends around the world (or atleast realizing they to are human) is a great way at killing support for wars. It ties countries closer together, helps us get over our differences which online are minimal. Chopping it back up into country sized slices and putting up walls is devastating. We are returning to 1950s style information. Where country leaders hold massive amounts of power over their people and use it for propaganda. Think about how evil most americans over 60 think communism is, or russia/china themselves. That type of division is a HUGE step backwards. And is possibly more depressing that division by isp.
Hulu is the exact same as the espn you despise. Instead of blocking people based on ISP they block based on country. I live in Canada where Hulu is not supported. Please don't support Hulu. It seems ok since you are on the right side of the fence on that banning but it does NOT help your case. As for a proxy, If you find an open proxy that can match your dl speed and stream hd videos I'll be shocked.
First off a proxy will not help if you are being blocked by your ISP rather than the site. I'm pretty sure the list of proxy ISPs will make it near impossible to use a proxy within a week. Open proxies would be gone the day it released.

Thats total BS...
Too true
'typically' for some routers probably wont hold up in court.
LoL forming the greatest source of child porn on the planet. *user logs in to check there were no false positive* *browses 10,000 CP pics*

In the same sense that horses and monkeys are JUST mammals. Doesn't mean that they share THAT much in common...
But... courts work that way because it makes logical sense...
