Yes, Yes it would kill them. Probably not as bad as the gazans but letting gazans escape into Egypt without israels permission (which it wont give). Could very well jeopardize Egypts safety. Israel has given them very stern warnings about this, and no body wants to be israels next target. Cowardly? Sure. But they are doing it so the barrel doesnt swing south west.

Unless i'm at university I always leave my network unsecured. My neighbors use it on occasion (i check logs). And I use theirs on occasion, with us being on separate ISPs we get at least 5 9s of uptime. It frustrates me that secured is become standard or in this case enforced. It was much better a few years ago when i could get wireless access in most places to check emails and such. Why do have to have such a community of locked doors? If someone has a laptop they likely have their own wireless internet which you could use, it is a perfectly fair deal. If my neighbours did a few gigs a day i'd stop it but it never went over a few megs.
Standard security should not allow access to lan. It should be allowed to set limits for outsiders and should have a message redirect when you first open FF/IE/Opera saying the rules and so forth. Thats it. Making sharing and redundancy illegal is ridiculous and as the summary suggests it doesn't help anything.

Well they are both part of the EU so gp is wrong you can move from ireland->poland for free.
Secondly, It is a GOOD thing that business' chase poverty! Something shitty happens to a country and big countries move in which will act to save their asses. Ireland will not become poorer than Poland because of this, as the summary says they are retaining higher paying post-secondary jobs. This could be rewritten to show how ireland is moving up in the world. Now they don't NEED the Dell jobs (atleast not as much as Poland does). This if left unfettered causes an equalization of wealth. Which is a fair thing, a good thing unless you happen to currently live at the top.

No, No its not. Its a horrible idea. Increasing the gas tax fine. The idea of punitive taxes is to tax people for doing bad things. That bad thing would be killing the environment and squandering a natural resource. So you tax by the gallon. Changing the tax to driving generally means you are punishing people for going places generally. And when people go places they do one of two things, spend money or earn money, both of which are good for the country. It is insane that anything like this could get put up without being laughed at. That is ignoring the fact that you also have to spend likely millions or billions of dollars to track how far people drive to tax them on it. And it creates a system where privacy is violated like a pretty 18yr old in the pen.
I can only imagine that this was bought and paid for by gas lobbies. Frankly because I don't want to admit that politicians are THAT stupid.
