(X)HTML doesn't handle vector graphics so surely you only need your web graphics in a vector format if you plan to use SVG?
I'm very happy doing front end development from a PSD if it's been made by a GOOD web designer, i.e:
Designed in a way that can be easily scaled
Well organised layers
Easily tiled bg images
Single pixel lines where they want a single pixel line (no aliased borders)
Consistent use of repeated elements etc...
(BTW there are MANY other things that make a good web designer but these are a few that I thought were relevant)
I'm not a web designer my self but the ones I work with find photoshop more intuitive which means they think less about the software and more about design.
...and some of their excuses are hard to argue against and not as simple to fix as you might think.
For example, the number one excuse is 'Our existing client base uses that address to contact us'.
'Simple' you think, 'I'll set their sales@whatever-isp.com address to forward to the address at their new domain and when they reply to their clients from the new address the clients will slowly migrate to the new address'.
The problem is that many of the worse ISPs/older email services don't allow redirects (or only for a limited amount of time, requiring you to periodically log into your webmail account to look at adverts)
'Okay then' you think, 'I'll set their new address to redirect to their @whatever-isp.com address, at least that way they can put the new address on the next load of print work they get done.'
The problem now is that they will still be replying from their @whatever-isp.com address which looks just as un-professional and more confusing for the potential client. Changing the From header isn't an option either (even if whatever-isp.com allows it) as it will break SPF records (and you DON'T want to be adding whatever-isp.com's SMTP servers to your 'allowed sources' list).
The options you're left with are to try and juggle two accounts while old clients migrate to the new address (SMEs hate this) or stick with the old address (unfortunately what often ends up happening).
I agree 100% although I think the biggest factors were that you are an 'educated' internet users and (presumably, as you were using Adblock) you didn't use IE (Same applies to Outlook of course).
If you have ADD and need constant sound effects and graphics or everything dumbed down and edited into some fake reality, filled with game shows and so on, then channels like Discovery are for you
Exactly, did David Attenborough gain fame and fortune, not to mention many awards, including 2 BAFTAs using sensationalist voice-overs and special effects?
Granted, they did make the most of high frame-rate shots slowed down to show nature in action but at the end of the day the subject matter was interesting enough on it's own.
My own personal theory would be that more amateur/bedroom DJs are buying mixing decks (such as the venerable Technics 1210) for use with time coded vinyl that acts as a midi controller.
The idea is you can mix your torrented MP3s with the same controls as you use with vinyl. Of course, once you have a decent mixing turntable to play vinyl on, owning the 'original' vinyl becomes 'cool' again...
Dedicated GPS will always have a place for specialist applications such as sailing and gliding of various types. Personally I fly paragliders, the GPS equipment we use is linked to a variometer (an altimeter with audio feedback to tell you whether you're climbing or descending) if it isn't built into the device.
When the iPhone can log second by second (and accurate) altitude information that's linked to GPS data, and it works anywhere (away from phone cells), then it might replace traditional GPS for me. Not sure about sailors though, how waterproof is an iPhone?
So what would you call someone who hand codes HTML/CSS (as XHTML Strict) and some JavaScript where necessary, has never used Dreamweaver/Front Page and only uses Photoshop to slice up graphics from the designer?
This person also knows PHP/SQL to a reasonable level, enough to build a tailored CMS for an SME and/or build plugins for osCommerce/Drupal/Joomla etc.
If you don't get the vowel sounds right a phrase can take on a different meaning. This what I'm lead to believe anyway.
From a programing point of view, I'd hate to code on a laptop with a French keyboard (having to use shift to get numbers, commas, full stop etc), I guess you'd get used to it though...
Exxon: It'll never happen, why spend so much on a 0.01% chance, we've been fine for the last 16 years.

I remember reading that but I think it only worked on blured text, not totally blacked out text.
I guess if you had to work out one word in a sentence you could tell how many letters it is and, given the context, come up with some possibilities but in these cases I'm guessing (of course I haven't RTFA) that lots of words/sentences/paragraphs would be blanked out.
He also mentioned elsewhere that he installed Ubuntu 8.04 just as 8.10 was being released so many of the apps on the install disc would have been out of date, requiring updates.
I installed 8.10 when it was maybe a month old and had very few apps wanting updates. I updated them all anyway and now I average maybe three updates every few days.
Another thing, although I agree that some Linux software has un-intuitive names, update manager does include a description of the software's role and Windows update's 'Security Update KB76357848' or whatever is hardly luser friendly is it?

They appear to do so already.
I don't have a Yahoo account, but if you navigate to the Yahoo login page via their home page you do get a fully encrypted https page.

The irony is that it will be worth more to collectors WITHOUT the music on it!
If I saw a disappearing and re-appearing paperclip while looking into space through a telescope I think I'd notice...
Why make a tank look like a heavy truck or a rocket launcher look like a stack of pipes when you could make them look like just another rock?

Question: What's the normal rate in the US for say 8MB/s DL/1MB/s UL?
I'm paying about 30Euro/month in France! In the last 6 months I've probably used about 1TB up and 1TB down and nobody's said a thing.
Don't know how long it's going to...EOF

And of course the 'turn left' rule makes a lot more sense when you drive on the left.
You mean English or American English?
...correctly.

~2.2 pounds/Kg so off the top of my head that's about 22.7 Tonnes. Of course it depends what type of pounds your talking about as there are lots.

Most people in England (where we also speak English) and the rest of Europe would say fourteenth of March two thousand and nine.
In Europe we celebrate Pi on the 31st of April...

It could be a GFX driver issue, I haven't bothered to troubleshoot it yet.

Mod parent up!
If the GPs arguments made any sense at all then open source would be killing the programming industry.
