No pun intended but this comes as no surprise because the software being developed was outsourced to India or H1B Indians whom just aren't good software engineers. This fiasco could have been avoided if these energy companies had employed the highly skilled and qualified people in the United States. I personally have been tasked with cleaning up garbage code full of memory leaks that was churned out by WiPro.
The effort is laudable and it is even cool from an ultra-nerd standpoint but UNIX is/was always cooler. I still do most of my best work from a UNIX shell prompt. I don't see why it is even practical to keep DOS alive, other than purely for historical purposes and interest.
I really like Libre office. It is a total and complete replacement for Microsoft. My brother runs his business on it and thunderbird. He is now completely free of Microsoft. I'm completely free of Microsoft. Good times.
Donald Trump's bully bullhorn might be toast. Donald Trump will be crying because his principle method of intimidation might actually shut down. Waaaaa!
So the Nigerians have progressed from advanced fee fraud to phishing? Well, they must be getting better because it is usually clear to me when an email is sent that is not legitimate. The email is rife with spelling and grammar errors and even word misuse.
I have to wonder why Sharma chose Chatango as a target. It looks like a pretty worthless target to me. There has to be more to this story than meets the eye so I'm left wondering if he was part employed by Chatango, got screwed by them, and decided to exact some revenge. If it was the case that Sharma got screwed by Chatango, I fail to see the problem here. I don't automatically think that just because someone is arrested or charged with a crime that they are guilty.
I would think information overload would be less of an issue for the more youthful demographic. I am 40 and have had to get used to more information. My new work from home tech support job requires 4 monitors. Yike, that can be overwhelming for a guy used to doing the same job with one or two. I am just finally, after 5 working days, am getting used to navigating that way of getting work done. I don't really 'LIKE' it yet but it is slowly growing on me.
I really dislike the information overload and I have to force myself to stop multitasking by keeping my smartphone in a different part of the house so that I'm not using it while watching TV. I really have to do the same for my laptop. I guess the psychologists are right when they say that the information stimuli is kind of addictive. Yikes!
On one hand, I cheer Prugar because I have been fired from jobs and I was told that I am "not a team player." Never mind that I had one of the highest issue solve rights and work completion rates of my team and department. Yes, I am socially awkward and have a disability but, when the day is said and done, isn't a job about productivity? Firing someone because you feel threatened by them is evil. On the other hand, I think that two wrongs don't make a right. I believe he would've been better off asking for his job back.
It has become too easy to fire people based on a whim so this is why I like to see corporations take a big hit occasionally. They get too big for their britches and need a little bit of that hubris deflated.
The levels of incompetence and stupidity are hilarious. Thankfully, I don't live in the Commonwealth of Virginia. More like the People's Republic of Virginia.
Thank gawd I use OpenBSD and host my own web, email, and cloud services. Let the FBI give it a go against one of (if not the) most secure operating systems out there.
It isn't always that easy to spot fake news right away. Some hints can be dubious websites but simply because a site is small or obscure, doesn't mean it is a source of yellow journalism. When researching, you have to compare sources.
I like seeing technology advance and 4K video looks fantastic but there are still few devices capable of displaying video at these resolutions. Furthermore, Big Telecom isn't a fan of giving people large amounts of data for cheap so anyone that has both limited broadband and limited mobile data will be unable to partake in this offering. The harsh, cold reality is that data infrastructure is pathetically weak in the United States. Since there is virtually no competition with the few big telecoms out there having regional monopolies, there is no incentive for them to offer larger data pipelines at affordable prices. With my current plans, one 4K video would just about kill my internet usage for 30 days.
This is why I don't use the cloud for anything! I have my own email, web, and sftp server. I set up my own personal private cloud via ownCloud and all this gets hosted on a small, low-power server in my house. My information is relatively secure and I don't have to worry about anyone else monetizing it or providing it to a government authority.
Bullshit! I think it can be made for a reasonable cost. It sounds like Apple is fudging a few things. I remember when US Airways got it's panties in a bunch over having to give up it's foreign call centers. It turns out that on-shoring all of the reservation processing added only a minor cost increase.
As someone that believes we should be free from government intrusion, I am happy that Twitter basically told the FBI to pound sand. Those that would trade liberty for security get none and deserve neither. Thomas Jefferson said it best.
Do we really need another mobile operating system in the ecosystem? Unless this one offers the stability that Android currently lacks, I am totally not interested.

I built my own router because I don't want any of these mass-produced, consumer piece of shit routers with more holes in them than swiss cheese.

Sudden outbreak of common sense ....
Isn't this what the yubikey is supposed to do? I mean it isn't exactly open but it does provide a nice easy 2FA.
Just another soulless corporation. Can you imagine getting fired by a machine?

Makes me glad that I am absolutely Apple-free! Open source all of the way. Make your shit in the US!

Because giving up liberty for security does not make society safer.

Fuck religion! I'd rather take a bong hit.
This is a true win for freedom!
