It's about time employers get a taste of their own medicine. A corporation can let someone go with no notice and it completely disrupts that person's life. It's time the corporation feel that same kind of pain!
From the summary, it's still more of the same unicorns farting rainbows. I am sick of the "Oh boy is this going to be something really great" line that I am hearing more and more of since the Drumpf campaign days.
Okay, I am confused. I thought that Intel was abandoning the 10nm process because of difficulty and cost issues. I was under the impression that they're going right to 7nm fabrication.
While I am first and foremost an OpenBSD user, I still consider it a win when a new version of FreeBSD or NetBSD gets released because it shows that BSD Unix continues to remain very relevant in the open source operating system world. I use FreeBSD as the OS for my NAS box and it works very well! I do both NFS and SMB file sharing from it. I haven't delved in to Net- very much but as long as development continues, it's a win!
But wouldn't it be cool if a 'driveway encounter' with TRUMP would end up w/ something productive & better for humanity?
It really would and I would be further curious to see if it would even be possible. I don't know if Trump is truly sociopathic or if he's just simply a dullard.
The Edge HTML engine is so patently shitty that I wonder why anyone would want to work on it. Microsoft probably did right by just letting the damn thing die.
Bear spray is typically nothing more than Pepper Spray at a higher concentration. While I'm certainly not downplaying the effectiveness of Pepper Spray ( I once cleared an entire downtown building with just a few shots of it: long story ), unless you have a breathing issue like Asthma, COPD, or the like, I don't understand how you can be in Critical Condition after exposure to it.
The simple fix is to require damage resistant packaging for such items.
What about an allergy or a bodily reaction causing a anaphylaxis? That's pretty serious.
Amazon is in gross violation of 100 year old Anti-Trust. The only business they have that makes any money is AWS and they have been engaging in illegal subsidizing schemes to sell below cost of goods to drive out the competition in the other business lines.
whether open source or not. It is going to be interesting to see how we address open source monopolies.
Open source and monopoly don't belong in the same sentence. Open source means that if you hate parts of the product but like its core functionality, you can fork it and make it your own by stripping out what you hate.
At the time of XP it was a joke. At the time of vista it was an amusing idea. At the time of Windows 10 it seems that things look that way. Or, at least, Microsoft is working hard to abandon OS market altogether.
Frankly, IT market would be much better without Microsoft. At this point it is just an obstacle.
With the proliferation of Linux and BSD, it's better to focus on writing software rather than try to reinvent the OS wheel every few years. By not having to spend obscene amounts of money maintaining and developing Windows desktop and server editions, it can instead focus on really making its administrative tools and software even better. Apple basically recognized the superiority of BSD and wrote a custom GUI and few other things on top of it. Microsoft doesn't even have to go that far. It just has to implement Windows as a desktop environment, brand, and release.
I could see this happening which is basically morphing Windows into a desktop manager for Linux and/or BSD and using Win32/64 binary compatibility layers. This would honestly be the best move Microsoft could make because the NT Kernel is an awful kludge.
Normally, I reserve a special place in hell for people that do this shit because is drives up costs for everyone. However if it ends up screwing over Walmart, I'll gladly make an exception to my own opinion.
I really want these fuckers to fail. I hate all companies in the "so-called" shared and gig economy. I hope all these guys fail in the next major recession. All of the shared economy companies prey on people and they get the better end of all of the business transactions.
In order to prevent this from happening, there needs to be much stiffer penalties for incidents like this. I am not talking financial ones but criminal ones. Subject the entire senior management to arrest and criminal prosecution for failing to take reasonable safeguards against incidents like this. Then you watch how serious IT departments will take information security.
I love it when these guys call me with that ominous warning that I've been infected with a computer virus. I play the very basic, naive computer user (with a short term memory problem) and try to waste as much time with these guys as possible. I use an incredibly high pitched, slow, whiny voice and ramble on and on about things outside of computers. I do as much to frustrate them as I can. When it is finally played out, I reveal that I am running OpenBSD, they get pissed off, cuss met out, and then hang up. That's 30 minutes less that they can devote to stealing someone's identity and money and I get a good belly laugh.
HR is fucked up enough. Maybe with Watson writing the job deacriptions they will actually be accurate with proper spelling and grammar. Imagine that. Maybe Watson will actually be able to screen candidates that some flunky HR analyst that walked in to work hungover from a night of partying cannot do. HR seems to be the bullshit career for people who cannot make it in anything else.
The Onion is scarily not far fetched at all.
You're a fucking asshole corporate shill.

I think an autopsy needs to be ordered. If there are no obvious causes, then further investigation needs to happen.

Is this going to be another Theranos?
How does that work ?

Do you have any proof to cite?

Then you're not a real Republican, just a confused little racist apologist backing the liars against your actual stated interests.
I never claimed to be a Republican. I am very left.
And I am actually pro-welfare. I am pro social support systems.

And when it finally does die, I am going to shout out in happiness. Thankfully, I am now 13 months free from that monstrous nightmare.
I honestly wished I had went to a trade school instead of college. I have a Criminal Justice degree which is as good as basket weaving.
For my laptop and desktop!
