In light of a certain parallel programming news item a few days ago, I'd like to see him use the same code, same CPU on this one:

There is no substitute for good old optimisation. Efficient memory usage, looping techniques and a little thought towards to branching can go a long way. That, and batch processing on multiple cores takes a fair bit of beating when the clock is ticking. I realise that there is still some *big* gains from finer grained parallelisation but I see a lot of coding behaviors that would never have been used ten years ago.
Compared to some of the perl scripts I've seen, I thought it was rather elegant. So, yes, the GP is a shame to the profession. Must be a perl newbie. Never mind, another couple of years of solid perl and it'll be compacted to 19 or so characters.
Actually, I'd like to see some formulas for the progression of perl programmers. Clearly, reducing the number of characters by 50% for each year is too simple. Damn. I see some irony approaching.
and that doesn't apply to the ipod because..... when I walk into a store there are about one hundred different mp3 players for sale. I choose one that is lightweight, and in my opinion, better. The one that I choose does not require iTunes to be installed to use the thing. I can use libusb if I want to.
convergence of the GPU and the CPU is the next big thing Wow! That's really insightful. Given that I've clocked my GPU at 182GFlop/s for FFT who would have known that this was going to happen?
insists that fighting piracy is the main reason for the existence of gaming consoles Honestly, can you blame the console makers for this? I have my old hacked XBox and was pirating content. I have my 360 and have bought plenty of content for it. The game makers are getting their money, pushing newer, more advanced games and will require more advanced hardware. Making

Come over and visit Australia. Can put you up in chook shed. You can bear witness to the mullet of yesteryear, the modern mullet, aged mullets and mullets from space. We got all types.
Ahh. But you can spot the chapters in those books that were written by Gentry Lee and those by Arthur C. Clarke (This news really, really saddens me... Rest In Peace). Many chapters focused on human behaviors while others were filled with math and concepts. It was very clear who wrote what.
I was under the impression that it's been a cease-fire for the last 55 years. North and South Korea don't actually hate each other. One just thinks the other is the pawn of the infidel. It will all be over when Kim Jong Il kicks it... as long as his son is not as bad.
For me, you hit the nail squarely on the head. I switched about 5 years ago because library management was becoming a pain. Now, things change when I want them to change. Churning out C code is much, much easier under Linux.
But is this a good thing? If you patent this type of advertising, then google can sue the crap out of anybody that uses it? If google doesn't use it then nobody does. Yah! I'm gonna patent bills in December.
for a old priest, a young priest and a couple of virgins Oohh, Oohh. I know this one! First you take the virgins and the old priest across, and then... dammit! Young priest masturbates.
First you take the... dammit!
I wish I had more than one boat. Taking all across concurrently would be easier.
I'm freaking out, man! You like, post that, and like, you have 314 in your userID. And the other three digits also appear in Pi. Early too. Three layers of tin foil today.

But some of us don't use MMDDYY format. Hence, we don't get Pi day. Unless you want:
3rd of January,
31st of April (1st of May)
Awe shit, who said it had to be the first three digits? It could be anywhere in the number, hence everyday is Pi day! I'd like to see you prove me wrong.

Sadly not. Those images had Windoze stamped all over them. 2009 may not fair well either. We should just hibernate till 2016.

Sorry! My bad. I should have known better to look at the username and userID. That's the perl I'm used to :)
The dot is the cork bobbing in the toilet because, being a drunk bastard, have yet to learn aim.
That's to match the arseholes-a-plenty we currently have in surplus.

Wow! That is slow. Painful to boot.

What a great science fiction prophet.
I'm pretty sure i've heard "Bad teeth in outer space" before. It's a quote from something ... tried googling but got nowhere. Austin Powers?
That 'smoking crack' was some of the funniest stuff I've seen. Oh, and comment was useful but a waste of time ... the RTFA bit anyhow.

Just curious, what is VB used for that fortran can't do? Fortran code is pretty quick to knock up, especially for quick calculation work.
Thankfully there are now higher uids, like mine, buoying slashdot. We wouldn't be so brazen to knock an Apple product.
